So, the panels are up and working...

I hate to be the one who brings down these stars but my experience with Photon Brothers is quite different from nearly everyone else. In the end, the panels are up and working but it was painful to get here. I went with this company because it was larger and as a single woman I thought it would be easier down the line to get repairs done. Their biggest fault is the lack of communication. The panels they quoted me are different from the panels that were installed onto homes of those who gave me references. When the installers arrived we talked about how they'd put pipe from the garage to the roof, hiding it behind the trim and along the gables, but after they were done I saw that the pipe went straight up through the center of the exterior. It's a side wall, so it's not a big deal but still, they did not do what they had offered to do. I told Photon Bros that I was going to be out of town for a specific period but they scheduled someone to come out and do work. Fortunately my neighbor was able to cover during my absence. I was again out of town (a fairly rare occurrence) and told three different people that I was not available but they scheduled a review with the city during that week. Two times. The third time I told them (most of this is via email) to let me know when it was scheduled and I would be there. No response. I finally called the city to get the information. The inverter quit after a few days. I discovered this by looking at the online output table. When I called Photon Brothers they pretended that they had been monitoring the system and they knew of the problem. I find this hard to believe. And then they had to order a replacement, which took a week. I was billed before the final inspection had been completed. And once I paid (after the inspection) I had to ask three times for my $1,000 "rebate" through the company. If you only care about the end result, this company gets the job done. However, I would not recommend them.

Excellent Experience with Installation

For our solar system we contacted multiple solar companies and, ultimately, received proposals from 3 companies. Not only was Photon Bros the least expensive of the 3 companies, but they also had superior panels. Photon did an excellent job on the installation. Everything looked very nice on the house and the team from Photon was courteous, professional, and listened to all our input during the installation process. To-date (we have been "live" now for 3 weeks, we have had good solar generation and absolutely no issues.

I'm a firm believer in renewable energy, I researched and consulted with at least 10 providers, and choose Photon Brothers becasuse they offered a program that I felt comfortable with, Price wise, installation times, etc. They promised a date and we had to move it up because of some snow the night before, they installed the system and did the electrical work in a timely manner and did a very good job, the employees were very professional and friendly. Our system has been in operation since 12/26/18, the biggest drawback was Xcel that took approx 6 weeks to install their equiptment. but we are very happy with the production we are getting and WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

Best Home Improvement Experience Ever

We moved to CO in 2015, from CA, where we had previously had a photovoltaic solar installation on our single-family house. Our home here is a townhouse, in an HOA governed community. We were reluctant to seek approval of a rooftop system, as the roof is metal, and there is no attic. One of the HOA Board members did have a photovoltaic system installed, on their flat garage roof, so we checked out the installer. Having been through the process once, we knew generally what to expect. We were absolutely amazed at the professionalism, the quality of work, the dependability of all representatives of the company. Kris Tallent was our salesman and advisor, he set up a great system, fully explained every detail and was always available. Richard Szymanski was our lead field worker, he solved more issues with the city building inspector than I thought was possible, and was an outstanding electrician. And our primary main office contact, Itzia Romero, was always available, always had the answer, and always responded immediately. I felt like royalty working with this company. Absolutely great value for the price.

Excellent job

Had a 6.2 kW system installed in January 2015. Selected Photon Brothers because they were the best priced and most responsive of the Sun Power dealers in the area. System was installed and has been operational since without any problems, and is producing more than the estimate in energy. Very pleased with Photon Brothers and Sun Power panels.

Very Frustrating

This company operates like a start-up company. The appointments are changed or they are hours late, and the paperwork is not filed correctly. The COO makes excuses and really has no idea what is going on with his employees. The owner is more concerned with his ratings than doing the project correctly. They sold me too many panels which should have been confirmed with paperwork that was never filed with the local utility company. An incentives were missed due to lack of paperwork on behalf of Photon Brothers. The project took five long months to complete due to mistakes. The installers were nice and did the best they could, but had to come back several times because of missed steps. The product might be great, but I would look for another company for your solar panel needs due to the lack or organization.

Sun Power by Photon Brothers Did an Excellent Install

I did advance research on solar installers in the Denver metro area so I had narrowed my list of who I considered to be reliable installers of the equipment I wanted to just 7 companies before I even went out for bid. I am sure any of the 7 would have done a good job, but in the end, I selected Photon Brothers. From start to finish, I was pleased with my selection. Photon Brothers provided a seamless, smooth experience from the initial cost estimate to the final inspection and beginning of operations. I particularly give kudos to the crew of Tyler, Dan, Nick, and Derrick (and the rather amusing observation that "I wish I had paid more attention to math when I was in school.....never thought I would use it in real life!). However, I have highest praise for one of the company owners, who is also a master electrician. He said he personally inspects work to ensure the smoothness of the inspection, doing extra work himself if needed. We have our solar power, we got it at a competitive price, and we can monitor its performance via the internet.

Everything done as promised, when promised and for promised amount. Follow up and caring truly stand out in this day and age. If they had shares I would buy them.

Great to work with!

Photon Brothers has the best top of the line panels, converters, and warranties! They did all the leg work with our local power company and ensured all contracts and permits were correct. We didn't have to lift a finger! They also installed our panels 1 1/2 months ahead of schedule!!! Highly Recommend and we are already banking our solar output paying zero electricity on our bills!!

Above and Beyond

We are very happy with our new 5.88 kw solar power system installed by the Pueblo office of Photon Brothers. They were quick, efficient and very friendly, explaining every step of the way and answering all my questions. Our system is flawless, we have consistent power and are generating more than we use almost every day. For the same average monthly cost that we were paying to Black Hills Energy company, we are paying off our system and investing into ourselves and our home--with no unexpected price increase! Black Hills cannot guarantee that for the next 15 years! We would highly recommend Sunpower by Photon Brothers Pueblo office!

Best Price, Best Quality, Best Service

We just hired Photon Brothers to install an 8.2kW solar system on our wood patio at our home in Templeton, CA. I can't speak highly enough about the team at Photon Brothers. After talking with many other companies and researching the options, it was a no brainer to go with them. Unlike all of the high-pressure solar companies you find in stores, David (the co-owner) is very honest, fair, and looks out for your best needs. Not only did his price come in at or below all of his competitors, we got top-notch American-made equipment and excellent local service. Don't waste your time with the big guys. Talk to David - he'll take care of you!

I had solar installed from Sunpower by Photon Brothers. Very happy with it as my monthly output is just the monthly fee of 20$. The look of them is nice. I recommend highly.

Solar Panel Installation

After a lot of research and interviewing many companies, including the big players out there... Solar City and SunRun, I decided on going with Photon Brothers to install my solar system. David the owner met with me three times and answered my numerous questions quickly and honestly. I felt comfortable with Davids no pressure approach and his knowledge of the whole process. I prefer to deal with smaller companies where you have access to the ownership and Photon Brothers fit that bill. The whole installation process was painless taking less than 3 days total. The installation crew was polite, efficient and neat, cleaning up at the end of each day and answering any questions I had during the install. Maddie, the project manager, kept me up to date on all phases of the project. All questions that I had were answered quickly and efficiently. Not the norm for a construction project. I was very pleased with my experience using Photon Brothers.

The Photon Brothers and Matthew Moody ROCKS!!

After a couple months of researching solar panels and installation companies for the first few months of 2016...with several companies coming to the house and giving me a detailed installation plan and estimate, I decided to go with the Photon Brothers and their SunPower panels. To say the least, Matthew Moody's presentation spoke for itself. From my extensive research, I already chose SunPower...it was just a matter of who was going to install them. With my list of questions literally in-hand, Matt answered each one concisely with data to back up his answers. I could not be more impressed during the presentation. He quite frankly blew the competition away. He worked with my solar loan company...Mosiac...so with no money down and an agreement in-place...I merely pay for my solar loan instead of to the electric company...money I'd never see again! Once my loan is paid off, I'm looking forward to years of electricity with no electric bill. Thanks, Matt!! :-) It wasn't too long after the presentation concluded...with permits in-hand and my electric company's approval...the work was getting accomplished. I left for work that morning and came back to all the brackets attached to the roof and 22 panels securely mounted. Honestly, I don't even noticed they're on the house anymore. The moment the switch was turned on last summer, I went to the new meter and was happy to see it rolling backwards...that was about 6 months ago now. I can say I haven't had an electric bill since! Everything is working as advertised as Matt promised. Thank you so much, Matt. I really appreciate all the time you took with me as I decided to finally cut the ties with MVEA. I couldn't be happier with the panels and your team's installation. I would HIGHLY recommend the Photon Brothers and Matthew Moody to anybody who wants to stop wasting money with electricity companies while doing their part to harness the sun's energy. Matthew Moody made it easy to understand the up front contract and the financing options that were available. Photon Brothers are the best! Brandon Hoffman, Installation Manager did an excellent job on the installation from up front coordination through completion. There was an issue with monitoring that Photon Brothers systematically worked through until they were successful coming up with a solution. Great Company you should consider working with

5-star experience

I agree with the other reviews here. Everything about our experience with Photon Brothers was 5-star, from start to finish. After placing my initial phone call, John came out to our home 2 days later (in a snow storm.) He had prepared a detailed project and quote for us ahead of time. He stayed 2-3 hours and answered all of our questions. By the end of the meeting we were signing up for solar. After researching other companies/products ahead of time we felt very comfortable with Photon Brothers and SunPower. From there was just a waiting game, especially with the lengthy approval process in Adams County. During this time I had a few random questions for John in which he was quick to reply back. Most contact during this time comes from a project manager who is also quick to reply back. The only thing I can criticize is the lack of communication during this time, and maybe that is just me being needy. It is a big commitment and would have liked a few more updates even if all they said was that there was no update and things were on track. My project did get pushed back by 2 weeks and I had a very short notice of this. This was due to production issues I was told. Then came the installation phase; Brandon was the Installation Manager on my project, and I can't say enough great things about Brandon, his team, and the work they do. I have OCD cleanliness issues, and when I would get home each day I couldn't even tell that anyone had been in & around my house. I am still impressed with the condition they left my home and how clean and neat everything was installed. I inspected the wires that needed to be installed and everything was very neatly tucked away and just perfect. Brandon had to move a portion of a large desk in my office to install a wire, and I couldn't even tell he had moved it, he put it back exactly where it was before. I didn't know this, but when he moved it one of the frames on the attached bookshelf fell and the glass broke. Brandon came back the next day with a very nice new frame for me (even better than the one I had before.) I told him he didn't have to do that, but that's just the type of person Brandon is. After install and inspection he explained the system to me and helped me log online to show me how to monitor. I can't rave enough about our experience with Photon Brothers and would recommend them to anyone considering solar!

These guys work hard

I researched solar and found that both the best equipment and skilled installers are needed. Proton Brothers have both. The install went well, they communicated with me all the way and falowed up with me. If they sold stock, I would want in. Yes, I recomend them and hope they show you my house.

Great company!

From initial contact to generating power, the process has taken roughly 4 months, which is to be expected with major contractor work that requires permitting, utility oversight, HOA approval, and scheduling. Throughout the process, I had a project manager who I could contact with any questions or concerns I had. A coworker went through a nightmare with his Homeowners Association when he installed panels without their written approval (his installer said CO law prevents them from blocking a solar install, but they weren't fully correct). My PM gave me a packet with all plans, what the panels would look like, where they would be on the roof, and other information so that I could submit it to my HOA early for their approval. After permits, HOA approvals, and utility approvals were obtained, I was contacted to set up an install date. They were flexible and gave me options which was important with my workload. The install took two days, and the team that came out was very personable and friendly (even to my dog!), and I have nothing but nice things to say about them. Inspection went well, and they hooked up the monitoring solution that allows me to log into a dashboard from anywhere on the Internet and see my current and trend of power production. We're turning the switch tomorrow after the utility installs their meter! This is a great company that I highly recommend. More of a personal touch than the other companies I got quotes from.
