Exemplary Experience - A Retired Const. Exec's Endorsement
As a retired construction executive, I approached the decision of installing solar panels on my home with a meticulous and informed mindset. After conducting thorough research on various solar companies, I narrowed down my options to four reputable firms, each offering similar systems within the $30,000 to $36,000 price range. My choice ultimately fell on NuWatt Energy. The deciding factor was their sales representative's exceptional responsiveness and attention to detail in answering my numerous queries. This level of engagement and thoroughness was a clear indicator of the company's commitment to customer service, a crucial aspect for me. The execution of the project was impressive. Given my extensive background in construction and my naturally high standards for such companies, I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of NuWatt Energy, who earned a rare 'A' grade from me. Their communication was crystal clear, and their responsiveness was commendable. They handled all aspects of the project, including permits and paperwork with the utility, with utmost professionalism. Their punctuality and the quality of work were exemplary. The team, comprising the project manager, solar installers, electricians, and the business manager, demonstrated exceptional skill and professionalism. Based on my positive experience and the high standards they met, I confidently and highly recommend NuWatt Energy for solar installation projects.

Unable to Contact as of 12/11/2023
While our system was installed correctly, it is no longer functioning properly and communicating with Eversource, via Enphase. We were told by Enphase that we needed to contact the installer and have tried multiple times to contact them with no success. We need to have this resolved ASAP since we are getting NO credit from Eversource since July 2023. This is completely unacceptable. Do NOT utilize this company.

Run Far Away!
I had an excellent experience with NuWatt right up until the ink was barely dry on the contract. I will detail the issues that I experienced, and continue to experience. I will also preface the whole thing with the fact that, at least in Rhode Island, NuWatt subcontract everything even though they claim "our installers" and "our electricians" during the sales process. It was only after the contract was signed that I discovered this. You have been warned! The contract for the project was signed on 8th July, 2022. Immediately after signing the contract, I reiterated to Adan (my sales rep) in email (having previously mentioned this in phone calls) that while my address is in East Greenwich (quote) "...we pay taxes to the city of Warwick, and therefore the permits will need to be filed with Warwick and not East Greenwich". The response was "I will put it in the notes... it won't be the first time we have to deal with it". This is important to note for later. From 15th July when Josue introduced himself as my project manager until 12th August, I heard nothing at all from NuWatt. I eventually texted Adan on 12th August to see if there was any movement with the REF grant and was told that an approval letter was expected shortly. Nothing then until 27th August when I checked in with Adan again. I was told that there had been a lot of REF applications but that something was expected soon. Nothing then until 15th September when I checked in with Adan again. I was told that they were (quote) "asking for some stuff" for the REF grant but that NuWatt would probably know something by the end of the month. Nothing then until 12th October when Adan informed me that (quote) "...we're just waiting for the permit to be approved so that we can schedule you for installation" and requesting that I initiate the first payment with Umass5, which I did. Umass5 sent payment out on 17th October. Nothing then until 1st November when I asked what was happening with the permits. I was told by Adan that they still hadn't been approved. I asked him to get back to me with any application numbers etc so that I could go and chase City Hall. Remarkably, 4 hours later, he let me know that they had been approved. On 8th November I was informed by Adan that installation was scheduled for 16th November. This was only after I asked for an update. On 15th November I texted Adan to make sure that the installation was going ahead the next day. Again, with remarkable timing, Adan had "...just got word that it looks like your installation is being pushed back to the 30th". I guarantee that if I hadn't messaged to make sure the installation was still on track, I would have been sat home the next morning waiting for a crew that never arrived. The installation actually happened on 28th November, and I have nothing but good things to say about the installation crew. Their work was excellent. I asked the electrician if he could confirm which municipality the permits had been pulled from, but he wasn't able to check. This seemed odd. On 12th December I received an update from Adan that (quote) "...there was an administrative issue with your permit, something to do with your address, which we're working to fix now". I asked Adan and Josue if the issue was that the permits had been requested from East Greenwich rather than Warwick. Josue eventually replied on 14th December and admitted that they had been pulled from East Greenwich despite the fact that I had stated on multiple occasions that they needed to be pulled from Warwick. I won't bore you with the rest of the details, but Aiman Alawa (the owner of NuWatt) got involved and assured me that this was just a blip, that it wasn't the way NuWatt usually do business, blah blah blah. I wish that was true. In April of this year one of the panels started to only produce 2/3rds the power of its neighbors. I noticed in May and notified NuWatt. On 1st June 2023 they sent out an electrcian to look at the panel, and subsequent to that informed me that Enphase had asked them to wait 24 hours and check again. I informed them on 5th June 2023 that nothing had changed, and they stated "Let us check this with EnPhase and Panasonic for further clarification and we will get back to you." Since that date, more than 2 months ago, there has been no information at all from NuWatt. The panel in question has been completely dead (zero output) since 13th August 2023. They no longer reply to emails about the problem. I am currently in the process of filing a non-responsive installer claim with Panasonic, and requesting that they assign a competent and responsive installer to diagnose and fix the problem. In short, run far, far away from NuWatt if you value your time and sanity.

Most Abusive & Unprofessional Company
I dealt with the following at NuWatt: Maan Alawa, Julia I Enescu, Jonah Guerin & Matt Holm. I also dealt with a number of sub contracted by the company. The entire experience was a nightmare and is still ongoing with the company no longer replying. We'll keep this to spark notes. NuWatt did not scope out the project and that resulted in the need for a transform upgrade at my expense. Based on this delay we replaced our roof a month prior to the solar work. After having a new roof and several rain storms, there was no leaking. The day the solar work started, the company failed to follow our towns building department policies on notifications. The company began work on both the roof and electrical meter side of our house. The town ordered them to stop work. A few days went by and we had a rainstorm that resulted in water leaking into your bedroom ceiling. We notified NuWatt, their crew and the company denied doing any drilling on the roof and indicated they were not at fault. We had video proving otherwise. Within those same few days, we found a hole drilled into our living room floor from the electrical meter side of the house. We notified NuWatt, their crew and company denied having ever done work on that side of the house. We had video for the floor undamaged a few weeks prior and no documented work on that side of the house. We were accused of lying twice with both times we had documented proof of the condition of the ceiling and floor. The sub contracted crew came out to look at the leak and reported that it was an HVAC leak. We provided proof that this wasn't possible as the HVAC was at the completely opposite side of our home with no source of water within upwards to 30ft of that location. The company lied to us and claimed no responsibility. After several months and approximately 100 emails & about 3 months (these number is not exaggerated), we got NuWatt to have someone paint our ceiling to fix the water damage. The drilled flooring took an additional 100 emails and an additional 3 months to get repaired. However the repair was completely unacceptable. They sub contractor NuWatt choose cut a square out of our floor, and replaced it with a different breed of wood and color. The repaired floor is at a different height to the rest of our floor and sticks out. We've indicated that this wasn't acceptable and since then the company has refused to reply. On top of these troubles NuWatt made recommendations early on that we needed reinforcements to our roof to which we happily accepted. Then when it came to the reinforcements they avoided the topic, and then proceeded to tell us we didn't need them any longer. We indicated that we'd still prefer to go forward with them based on the initial recommendation. They combated us on this for several emails and then ultimately installed the reinforcements that we initially agreed. Moving onto the solar being installed, that part went relatively smooth after a few missed days of the crews not showing up. Thankfully working remote, that did not interfere with our day to day operations. When the solar was installed and the system was to be activated, I could not activate the system as the Envoy box was installed far too close to a conduit that prevented the operation of the latches from opening. NuWatt came back out several weeks later and fixed that portion. When I opened the Envoy I found water had leaked inside of that. NuWatt addressed may have addressed the leaking by installing missing screws in the conduit, however there is no way of confirming this as the Envoy is now blocked again from the conduit and screws being installed too close to it. I noticed NuWatt of this and have heard nothing since the start of the year. During this initial Envoy access issue, I finally got access to the Enphase Portal to check the system and found that the 50% of our solar system was not operating for several weeks. They didn't notify us. They eventually sent someone out to fix it at the same time of the Envoy access issue / leak. To date, the system is functioning properly. I've placed a request in inquiring about consumption metering at the end of January with no reply back. The flooring repair is still unacceptable and the company refuses to reply. NuWatt as a company has been the worst imaginable relationship with a contractor I have ever dealt with. They accused us of lying. Their crews have indicated that their sub contractors unwritten policy is to deny everything, even if they know they messed something up, just deny it. The company wants to assume no liability. At this time, our next course of action due to the company ghosting us is to contact our insurance company to file a claim again NuWatt and to contact our state agencies to file a complain against the company. If you take anything away from this review, our recommendation is to photograph, video, document. Get your contractors names that work at your location. Have them sign in or provide identification and license information. This way when NuWatt (or other companies) try to exploit you, deny liability, or just generally screw you over and cause month after month of stress, you'll have the proof you'll need to demonstrate that NuWatt are untrustworthy and crooks.

Nothing less than 5 stars!
When I first found NuWatt Energy, I had already dealt with a number of solar contractors that failed to respond or failed to deliver. So I was incredibly impressed with just how quickly they responded when I submitted my information on the site, hearing back from them the same day! NuWatt Energy is not your typical solar energy company - not only were they responsive, but they walked me through the process in a way that kept me feeling like I was being listened to, even during times where I may have been a little stressed (thanks, Maan!). They were on top of all the paperwork and the project finished on time - if I could give them more than five stars, I would!!

Glad to have chosen NuWatt
Had our roofs redone and new solar install last year, both with NuWatt. We both like the look of the all-black panels and immediately started producing enough solar energy to cover current usage plus on top of that the payments we get towards SRECs. Thank you, NuWatt.

Highly Recommended - Great Experience
We had a smooth experience installing solar in January with NuWatt Energy. Their efficiency got the system installed and ready for inspection in no time. The working crew and electricians were very friendly and worked hard all day. The crew and the solar consultant, Maan, were very friendly and personable.

Wonderful customer service!
Working with Nuwatt was a wonderful experience! I had so many questions and was so green to this process but after talking to the company, trusted them 100 percent with their recommendations and the install. They came highly recommended by all the folks I spoke to who utilized their services. The representative we worked with (Maan) was extremely helpful, kind, patient, and supportive about this process. He guided me every step of the way to make sure I was comfortable and understood the process. His kindness and positive attitude was exactly what we needed to feel comfortable with this process. Wish I had gotten more panels, since they made the process so seamless! It was a pleasure working with them and I would not hesitate to do so again!
