I can’t say enough about NEC Solar and it’s representative Artie Crocker. Starting with Artie, he gave us the most careful and accurate projections of how the system would affect us financially and environmentally in both the short and long term. His recommendations were spot on for project size and placement of panels. We feel we were earnestly and professionally treated throughout. He a most personable and forthright gentleman to work with. Regarding the project itself, the work went smoothly and exactly as predicted, the workmen being cheerful, competent and quick. We are astonished at the almost immediate return on our investment, pleased that we have developed such a large credit balance in seemingly no time. I have referred Artie and NEC to two friends who have both engaged with them in solar projects. Best financial and environmental decision we ever made. One cannot miss by engaging with NEC.

Conservation is Preservation at Hemlock Gorge

"This Old House" is a Greek Revival, Cape Cod-style home build in 1825. So the duty of any project is to esteem the provenance while making the home efficient and livable. Sensitivity to her bones and aesthetics are a priority for this four-room 912 square foot abode. Artie and Alex and the entire team of NEC Solar went the complete distance to design, curate the best product combination, and execute a beautiful installation. This was all accomplished with the guidance of The Newton Upper Falls Historic Commission. The racking system was a special compact type that allowed for almost a total coverage of the southern-facing exposure of the roof. Two more microinverters were fitted on the back gable. The clean look was achieved with the Board's request that the panels be "all black". When the task was completed, it garnered considerable praise. With NEC do not hesitate to move forward with your solar desires, be it for an old home like mine, or a situation that may present unique challenges. They will work with whatever constraints you may be facing and patiently walk you through the process.

Love my overall experience with NEC. When We decided to go solar, I made sure we “interview” different companies to get a better idea of what is out there and what they were offering. Our experience with NEC starting with Dana who walked us through what they Have to Meg, our project manager was amazing. Love working with them and will recommend them 100%, excellent experience. The best part is everything went smoothly, communication was on point and do not have any complains at all. They are a smaller company in the Solar industry but the quality of their work was amazing, after all they are first of all an electrical company, so we trusted them with our solar project and they didn’t disappointed us.

My experience with NEC is extremely satisfying.

I chose NEC because first, they are an established electrical contractor. My project was a gut rehab and I could tell from the get go that their experience in power and solar was what I needed. As a construction management consultant, I have hired many contractors and one gets a feel for thoroughness, professionalism, and capacity. NEC is the total package. From sales engineering, questions and scoping, pricing, knowing the intricacies of the industry, rebates, engineering, coordination with other contractors, installation of panels, tie ins, operations, and finally the amazing results of living off the grid. NEC made it happen for me. Their projections exceeded my expectations as did their performance. I would highly recommend them.

Nothing short of amazing

I highly recommend NEC Solar! All of the employees are professional, highly knowledgeable and responsive. Even after my installation, they check my solar production to make sure everything is working perfectly. Honestly, what more could I ask for! I'm so happy that I switched to solar and enrolled in the RI REG program. Special shout out to Dana and Megan who answered my numerous questions and held my hand through the process!! I did A LOT of research with different companies and I'm glad I choose this one. Also, the panels look beautiful on my roof!

Great experience

My husband and I are thrilled to have "gone solar" with NEC! It was a pleasure working with Artie. He took the time to understand our needs, patiently walking us through all the details and options. His efforts to help us to find the most aesthetically pleasing and functional layout for the panels on our roof were especially appreciated. Alex diligently managed the project. I had no idea how much was involved in having solar installed! Utility paperwork, building permits, structural analysis, SMART program paperwork, etc. But Alex stayed on top of everything for us. When it came to having the panels added to our house, there are several highlights for me. The installers willingly put in extra effort, at my request, to run wiring through attic spaces instead of outside. Their work looks fantastic! After getting a system myself, I've noticed other solar installations in town that used aluminum-colored rails that stick out past the solar panels. NEC, on the other hand, used all black rails with end caps to provide a nice clean look. I appreciate the attention to detail.

High Quality Work and Ahead of Schedule for my Solar Project

I wasn't thinking of going solar until an unsolicited person knocked on my home door and asked if I wanted a free estimate on solar. Although I was sold on the idea, I wanted to find out any good reviews on them so I posted an ask on Facebook Needham site for reviews on good Solar vendors, and an overwhelming majority of responded that NEC Solar with Artie Crocker was by far the best Solar experience they had, so I was comfortable choosing NEC with Artie as my Solar vendor over that unsolicited salesperson who introduced me to the idea.

Excellent service

Artie is a trained engineer and was very helpful in designing the project. Installation was easy. They informed us whenever they needed to come over, were polite, and worked efficiently. There was a little glitch that they resolved very quickly. Excellent service and product.

Great communication!

I did my homework as best I could to understand PV systems and what my house could support. The sales and installation team always kept me informed of the choices I would need to make as well as the ways these choices might impact installation and ultimately energy production. There were no surprises which is exactly how home improvements should go (contrary to what HGTV shows us.)

A great group of people, very focused on customer satisfaction

I looked at ALOT (11) of solar developers and was overwhelmed with the differences in price and forecasted energy generation. This went away after I met the TEAM from NEC Solar. They worked with me to get me exactly what I wanted (maximum production, panel selection and a Battery Energy Storage System) at a competitive price. Throughout the entire process my project manager kept me updated as to the progress of installation as well as interconnection, MA SMART incentive application and registration and finally getting the system energized.

Outstanding expertise and service!

The whole NEC Solar process was wonderful, and we couldn't be happier with the finished product! From the start, they worked with us patiently to meet our unique needs, explain and simplify the process, and minimize expenses. The whole team, from Liz to the project manager and electricians communicated well and worked neatly and efficiently. Gratefully, NEC Solar coordinated with the utility company, town, and the state to take care of turning on the system, tax credits, rebates, etc. Now we have a gorgeous system turning photons into usable electricity!

NEC-Solar was great installing panels on my house

NEC-Solar is a great company; I highly recommend them. They installed solar panels on my house in Dec 2020, and I've contracted with their sister company NEC-Electric to have heat pump A/C and heating installed soon. I've had extensive dealings with two estimators and our project manager and they've all been extremely responsive, knowledgeable, friendly, considerate and have always done what they said, on time. The crew that put the panels on the roof and did the wiring were a happy bunch, joking with each other and careful to ask my opinion on the aesthetics of wiring and equipment placement. NEC has a great corporate culture. I've had many solar proposals done for my house, and, the points I noticed that differentiates them are: Will the company be around to fix any problems? If you look at the map of NEC's installations on their website, they clearly are a pretty big company that should be around for the long haul. You want the inverters to be warranted the same 25 years as the panels. How much paper work will you have to do (in NEC's case I read a 3 page contract and did two or three DocuSign sessions to the extent of about 20 mouse clicks). My part of the paperwork was minimal. If you need a loan, what's the interest rate? If you sell your house, is the loan transferable to the new owner? There are companies that offer special solar loans, because the risk of default is low. Not having an electric bill (on average) pays these loans. NEC told me they'd find me such a loan if I needed it. Over the past 10 years, I've had at least 3 solar companies knock on my door (and NEC was not one of them). I've invited all of them in, listened to their spiel and looked over their proposals. One exaggerated the financial benefits to the point of lying. The loan being offered is sometimes high interest. Any offer to put panels on your roof at no cost to you is accurate, but you never own the panels and will continue paying an electric bill (which is smaller than without the panels). No-cost panels is almost a scam; you are far better off owning the panels. I always came away with a bunch of scribbled notes and little understanding of the finances and I had a hard time finding reviews of the companies. I'd always ask for a year-by-year spreadsheet, and never got one. By contrast, NEC's estimator led off with a spreadsheet showing my panels would pay for themselves in 7 years and I'd be $43,000 ahead at 25 years. This was based on electric company rates going up at 4% a year. I checked that out and it was accurate as far as I could find data. NEC gave me an honest picture of solar panels as a financial investment, and it's a no-brainer good one. Also, you can find articles saying that solar panels raise house values by an average 4.5%. My goal is to get my household as close to net-carbon neutral as I can. I already have an electric heat pump water heater. I'm getting heat pump heating soon. Outstanding Organization

The entire team was professional, courteous and conscientious. Originally, I committed to another company and then I received a call from Dana Goodman and she made me feel so at ease and exhibited excellent sales skills by not taking no for an answer:). She was great to work with me and design the right roof configuration for me. She listened to what I wanted and we were able to settle on something that met my needs. Then came Meg. She did a great job of introducing herself and what the next steps would be. She went over the project and had a initial review of the roof done. She stayed in contact with me until the project was completed. The framing crew, panel crew and electricians were all great to work with and they completed all of the work within 2 days. All done without a hitch. They worked well with the town inspector and only one minor wiring change needed to be made. Meg promised NEC’s work would be completed in November and it was. Overall, I was very satisfied with the experience. Thank you.

NEC Solar Exceeded Expecations

After receiving several quotes for Solar I decided to go with NEC Solar. NEC was very professional and thorough not only with explaining the process to purchase/install Solar but also the incentives that I'd be eligible for to maximize my investment. NEC exceeded expectations with their excellent communication, attention to detail and professionalism. Huge Fan of NEC Solar

It is 1 year to the day that my system was turned on with Eversource and I am 1,000% pleased with how everything has turned out. I purposely waited the 1 year to make sure this review was thoughtful and thorough. When I reached out to NEC Solar I made sure they knew what was important to me, my two biggest concerns were leaks in my roof and the visual nature of the system (how the runs would look on the outside of my house). Artie, Meghan, Sean and team exceeded my expectations. They took the time to listen to what was important to me, spent time at my house looking at the installation site (before the contract was signed) and made recommendations/suggestions on how best to do this so my goals would be achieved. Artie is the salesman, he spent time designing a system that would meet my energy production goals, explained the pros and cons of various choices and guided me in my solar journey. Meghan is the PM and set the expectations on timeline, process, etc. She was spot on and communicated every step of the way I could not ask for anything more. Sean ran the installation crew, they were on time, courteous and cleaned up after they were done. The crew joked with my kids and explained what they were doing, teaching them along the way. 365 New England days later, many a snowstorms, 70 mile hour winds, tons of rain storms and I am happy to report, no leaks and the system is producing more energy than expected. I am happy to speak to anyone that wants to talk about working with NEC Solar. I am thrilled I chose them as my installer and the quality of the work cannot be beat. You will not be disappointed when you work with NEC Solar.

A great experience

We had a great experience with NEC Solar and we are very happy with our solar system. Artie, our sales person, was very patient with us as we worked through all our numerous questions and it was his willingness to think outside the box with our system that made us choose this company over their competitor. The installation team was very professional and quick, respecting our home and time constraints. The project coordinator Megan also did a great job keeping us informed on the next steps of the project. The best part is now we get to watch the solar energy roll in. We are creating more solar energy than we are using, even with our unusual roof orientation. Overall, we would not hesitate to choose NEC Solar.

Friendly, Honest, Efficient, and High Quality.

Working with NEC was a delight. We chose them after going through the quoting process with 3 companies. We found their sales approach to be honest and friendly. They did not inflate the benefits or provide unrealistic expectations on what we would be able to install. They do no door to door sales, which I prefer too! NEC is family owned and has a history of electrical construction work. They are pleasant and helpful, and they do their own installs (we found that many companies sell the project, and outsource the installation). The quality of work was very high and we are very very happy with how the array looks on our roof. Their pricing was extremely competitive and they are transparent with cost. Surprisingly, they were unique in our experience, by showing the project total cost, and different break downs on tax credits and finance options. Some companies were a bit more secretive on total cost, and less flexible on payment options. If you are looking to go solar, I'd recommend getting a quote from them, we are so happy we took the time to shop around and found them!
