Amazing service a year later

I’ve had my system for almost a year and experienced a problem with the inverter not producing any power. I called the office number and got an after-hours person who quickly had the on-call tech, Danny Palmer, get in touch with me. He was amazing! He kept me informed of each step he attempted remotely and Monolith’s communications with the inverter’s manufacturer. I told him I bet he would have to come to my house to fix it and he responded that he was up to that challenge. Hours later it was fixed remotely. Communications were great. Customer service was great. Danny was awesome. I expected problems getting help since the system was bought and paid for and a year old already. I was very pleasantly wrong in my assumptions! Great job Danny Palmer!!

Monolith is awesome!

To say our experience with Monolith exceeds expectations would be to make a huge understatement. This company is AWESOME! For perspective, we’re owner/builders; we designed and built our own passive solar, super-insulated home and in the process we’ve dealt with a LOT of contractors. Monolith is at the top of the list for doing what they said they would when they said they’d do it. As anyone who’s dealt with contractors knows, that can be a BIG problem, but not with these guys. The best part, what really distinguishes them from most every other solar company is they’re local. We never had to talk on the phone with some guy in California looking at Google Earth on his computer. No, we’d make a phone call to Rensselaer if there was some issue and an hour later someone like Gary Despart (lead consultant), Chris Williams (foreman) or Danny Palmer (PV technician) would be on site. Very impressive!

The whole team went out of their way to make the process smooth sailing. When I wrote they responded promptly. They replaced the panels that fell quickly and with no fuss. When the independent contractors failed to show to dig my trench, their men filled in and did an excellent job. I am very happy with my panels.

I generally do not post any review but this time I felt like writing about my solar installation by Monolith Solar. I did my research before going for solar and checked with some big names as well as some local installers too. Most of them offer the leasing option as that is in the best interest with the company. One of my friends referred me to Monolith and it offered me the best deal for purchasing the solar unit. My project was handled by Lindsey and she is the best. She is very efficient in communication and managing the project. She explained me all the details about the installation and post installation processes and helped me for all the communications to power company. The installation team is young, energetic, caring and very accommodating. It was windy and light rain on the second day of installation but they completed it even though they had to stay late. The best part is when the 3rd party electrical inspector checked the system. He said “I like the company’s work. Because they have used good quality product and done a nice job”. That was a very satisfying moment for me to hear a comment from an independent tech, who inspects so many solar installations. Everyone in Monolith care about customer. Even the VP - Steven Erby called me to make sure the project is handled to my satisfaction.

I had a great experience working with my consultant Janelle Calkins and everyone at Monolith Solar. They installed my panels a few months ago and I actually look forward to my electric bills now. The panels are on the front of my home but you can barely tell because Monolith uses a very sleek black panel, which blends right into my roof. I am very happy with my decision to choose monolith and recommend them to everyone.

Quality Quality Quality - In Love With My Solar

I have thought about going solar for awhile. I researched many companies in the Capital District, most of which have only been around for a couple of months. Finally, a friend at work recommended I check out Monolith Solar, who have been working in the area for 8 years. Everything with Monolith Solar went exactly how they said it would. The paperwork was totally done by them. Anytime I called, I actually talked to a person, not a machine. They were with me the whole time. I would get update emails every week or two about my permit status. The guys were punctual and respectful of my lawn. I am a garden fanatic, and they made sure to work around my tulip beds, which I really appreciated. The install went exactly like the renderings that were given to me.Solar was a big undertaking for my husband and I, and I am happy to say that I selected a dependable company, I highly recommend making the switch to Monolith Solar!

Superb! More than promised!

We settled upon Monolith after reviewing about a dozen options and receiving estimates from what we considered the top three installers, all of which had excellent reviews. What made the difference? Ms. Lindsey McEntire. We set the bar high with numerous questions, design requests that minimized the impact on our home, a ridiculously tight installation schedule just before the holidays, and more patiently answered questions. Trust me. Monolith is the company and Lindsey is the consultant you want. Our system produced over 400 kw over the past 2 weeks and we couldn't be happier.

I've been happy with Monolith from the start. I love that they sent someone to our home to meet with us. I didn't even consider spending my money with a company that wouldn't meet us. Working with a local company is good for our community, another reason we chose Monolith. After install, the support has been excellent, and I've received emails/calls back to my inquiries 100% and always with resolution. I recommend Monolith to everyone considering solar, and the benefits of owning vs leasing or PPA are considerable and far outweigh the costs.

Monolith Solar is the Best

I became interested in having a solar panel installation in early 2013. I met with representatives of several local companies for estimates and recommendations. Steve Erby, the vice president, came to my house and discussed a proposal. He was very knowledgeable and courteous. His estimate was not the lowest I received, but I felt his company offered the best installation and support. At the time they had done several large commercial installations and were starting to do residential installations. I thought that if they could do a system with over 100 panels my system would be a piece of cake for them. Steve proposed a system of 24 panels producing 240 watts each. When it was time to do the installation the panels in the proposal were not available and panels producing 235 watts were available. Since this would slightly reduce the capacity of my system Steve agreed to redesign the installation so that I could have 26 panels instead of the original 24 at no additional cost. They also installed a monitoring system that allows me to trace my electric production on my computer. I was very impressed with the installation. A crew of 7 people showed up to do the layout along with a cherry picker to place the panels on the roof. Care was taken not to damage my lawn with the heavy equipment. On the 2nd day a crew of 3 completed the installation and then an electrical contractor came to install the inverter and run the electrical lines. Steve told me my system would produce approximately 75% of my annual electrical usage and that I would save approximately $100/month on my electric bill. This has proven to be the case almost exactly. I am very satisfied with my dealings Monolith Solar. They have been punctual, courteous and very professional. I would not hesitate to recommend the company to any one looking for a solar installation.

I was interested in Solar Panels. Spoke with a rep. @ Home depot from Solar City. He was vague about the work, cost, and how my power bill would be affected. I did some checking on the internet and looked into the Solar City company. On their own site was nothing but disgruntled customers. Sloppy work done, unfinished work done and total customer unhappiness. I then called Monolith. the Sales rep. brought me a quote that was easy to read, informative, and answered all questions I had. Best move I ever made. Not only did they promise and do everything they originally told me, but I made changes in midstream that they did without additionally charging me. I wanted an electrical wiring pvc moved and no problem, It was done. Chris the installer was a treat to work with. Do yourself a favor, contact no one else but Monolith.

Home Solar Installation

We decided to go solar about 4 months ago and began our research. Although at first the low upfront cost of leasing seemed the best, tbut he more I researched it, the more I felt that an outright purchase was the way to go. After getting several quotes, we decided on Monolith. Their options, the cost and the personal touch sold us. We were not disappointed. They were there for us every step of the way. While other companies did the design remotely, they came out a few times and made sure that the system was the best for my home and power generation. The design was perfect. When it was time for the installation, the crew worked hard to minimize any visible conduits and the final product not only has been a great generator of power, it looks great!

Our Solar Project

There are so many good things to say about monolith i'm looking for a place to start. For us the most important thing was not to have conduit and junction boxes running all over the roof. Monolith did an outstanding job hiding all of it. Curb appeal was also important so they used a black on black panel and arranged them to look nice. This whole project of purchasing the system didn't effect our monthly budget at all. Monolith was there every step of the way with grants. I urge anyone considering a project like to this to do your homework and know how you want this to look on your property.

Great product, great customer service

My family is very satisfied with our solar installation by Monolith on our house last Spring....the process started with a clear explanation of the processes/costs involved by their solar energy consultant John H. and ended with beautiful panels that reduce our energy costs every day! During the process we had to revise our plans, and at every step of the way John was helping in explaining and providing information, and he even went so far to recommend some dependable and reasonably priced tree trimmers who we used. Whenever we called or emailed there was a prompt response. Any paperwork that needed to be reviewed or signed was done at the convenience of our home. The panels were installed quickly. John and his Monolith colleagues whom we have interacted with have always been a pleasure to work with and very professional...even when we scaled the size of the installation, they were very accommodating.

Solar for First-time Homebuyers with a Historic House

My wife and I bought our first home a year ago (today!), a foreclosure built in 1882 that needed lots of TLC. During our renovations, we learned about Solarize Troy and got in touch with Monolith Solar about installing a PV system on our property. John Hodgens, our contact at Monolith, met with us several times and helped us formulate a plan to use the roof of our old carriage house to hold the panels, which would help supply our home electricity. John explained the details of the programs and equipment and guided us through the paperwork, which made this new world easier to approach. All of the technicians who came on site during planning and installation were personable and knowledgeable. They were able to integrate the system with our historic buildings in a way that was subtle and practically invisible, and which qualified us for a state homeowner tax credit to boot!

My wife and I compared several companies. Many were good- but we both chose Monolith as the best for several reasons. Our Monolith Representitive- John was friendly, polite and professional. He explained several options for us- and there was never a high pressure sales pitch. Also, he always got back to us promptly- even once on a holiday! He brought our installation team coffee and donuts. I know business is business- but it seemed as if there was good cohesiveness in the Monolith team. Plus, I admire they are a Veteran owned company, employ Veterans- and help the community- such as recently donating profits to help the citizens of Hoosic Falls. Many people spend more on there last 2-3 years vacations, cruises, camps- then the average cost of a Photovoltics system fully installed. Those vacations will never pay for themselves/ or have a payback period. Whereas, a photovoltic system immediately begins paying for itself from the first day it is installed- not just financially, but also by decreasing the need to burn dirty fossil fuels like gas or coal- which results in cleaner air, a decrease in repiratory conditions, not just for us and our children- but for future generations as well. You can "Support the Troops" with a token bumper sticker- or you can actually support them by making America more energy independent and support the jobs for Veterans and others.

So Glad I Went Solar!

I was nervous about going solar as I wasn't sure I would be able to understand how the system worked and how it worked with National Grid. The Salesman for Monolith explained things so well that I thought I would sell solar after he left. The installers for Monolith were so professional and explained every part of the install. They cleaned up prior to leaving and you wouldn't have known they were there except for the new panels on my roof. The team at Monolith provided me with all information I needed including the directions on how to change my anniversary date with National Grid to the tax forms I would need to get my rebates. The customer service is also so professional and willing to do whatever it takes to make the customer happy. I wouldn't have asked for a better team to go solar with.
