Momentum Solar Scams Clients
I got service from Momentum Solar last year (IGS Solar, LLC). They promised my electric bill would go down with solar. I would be saving about $40.00 per month. I have been paying $10-20 dollars extra a month now since solar. They came or a man came and lied to my wife and I. This people are the scum of the earth. I called to complain and they told me the deal was for a cheaper electric bill but adding the solar the cost is high. I asked where my savings were, but they were rude and refused to help. They said I was stuck with the deal. I was stupid enough to increase my monthly electric bill. It is also almost impossible to sell the house. What mad person will want an added bill? They are lying thieves stay away from solar. It is not free like they say. It will end up costing you about $50,000.00 and an unsold home.

Improperly designed and installed
Unfortunately, the micro-inverters specified for my project were undersized, and we now have what is known as "clipping." Which means, the panels are able to produce more the micro-inverters can handle, so we leave some "sunlight on the table" every day. It's estimated what I have lost about 5-10% of production because of this. Secondarily, when they installed the panels, they did not center them on the roof. This may seem petty, but it looks ridiculous, and I see it every time I pull into my driveway. I reached out to them for about a year on this, and could never get anyone to respond or take my call. The post-install support from this company is abysmal.

Wouldn’t leave my home
Rep came out for a consultation, i had sent a copy of my bill to them the day before so they could come prepared. Unfortunately, the rep didn’t have any numbers for me and he kept trying to get his “engineering” team to crunch the numbers. That never happened. After 1 hour I asked him to leave and he wouldn’t leave my home. Very pushy salespeople with no preparation.

Thankful to have found such an easy solar solution
We remain happy to refer momentum to our neighbors, friends and family. From our first meet and greet with our sales rep, through the super simple planning process and installation almost 5 years ago, we remain highly satisfied. Momentum has lived up to every word of the agreement and the service is so seamlessly simple with not a single penny out of our pockets and only a small window of our time requested for installation and inspections after which is smooth sailing. We and are looking forward to another 20 plus years of not just reducing our carbon footprint and our electricity costs, but doing our part to help create a cleaner world for future generations. Thank you, Momentum, for your transparent, dedicated and skilled service level, and thank you for making the solar conversion effortless and easy to understand.

Hyped selling
Scheduled a meeting with a Momentum Solar Rep. He made great effort to educate me about why solar offers consumers savings which was interesting and informative. When I asked for a Proposal that could be left with me for consideration the Rep refused and acted as though he expected me to simply sign up without time given to review all terms. Thia is an old fashioned sales tactic that is dangerous and not in the best interest of the public good.

My lack of Due Diligence
After retiring from TX state government, I try not to complain. Some people are not happy people. But I have worked all my life and it doesn’t take much to return a telephone call. I had solar panels installed 2022 with thoughts of always having power. Now in Houston, every time the wind blows, there’s a power outage. I call Momentum after looking to access the “saved energy”! OMG, one needs a generator at another expense. Now I’m paying for solar panels and Momentum won’t call me back. I’m 70 y.o., RUN from this company. After my initial installation, I had to pay an electrician to correctly wire their system to my circuit breaker. I couldn’t simultaneously use my washer and dryer. Momentum never offered to reimburse me. They did send out an installer but couldn’t diagnose the problem. Just do your due diligence and research companies for practically any financial expense. I have learned though that costs are similar. The follow up is the big difference. Check out the customer service history!! Just stay away from Momentum Solar!!!! But if you don’t care about feeling like “whatever” call them. That’s their MO.

Bate and Switch
I fully intend to wait till my solar project was completed before writing a review, but I’m now five months into what was supposed to be a couple months, so at this point I don’t know when I’m gonna be done. I’m doing my best to keep this short, as I could write all day on the poor experience I’m having with Momentum Solar. This company seems to only care about sales. They told me basically anything I wanted to hear, but once signed with them they became unhelpful and uncaring. A big pull for me was they do everything in-house so it’s streamlined and there’s great communication. This was not the case at all; the company is too big and inefficient. Their communication is very bad; they’ll usually respond quickly to let me know they’ll get back to me, but getting answers takes forever no matter how much I reach out. I’m spending about 65k between the need roof and the solar. They added about 15% to the cost of the roof installation after the fact, and when I tried to work out a deal with them I spoke to two reps and a manager who all told me I singed a contact so I should be happy they didn’t add more to the cost (I’d be very very care what you sign with this company). I had many other problems with the roof installation, and I’m still trying to get them to come out and finish the work. The solar went pretty well; the issue is they failed inspection. It’s been two months now and I can’t get anyone to tell me anything about what’s going on, again, no matter how much I reach out. Lastly (for now) the loan they set me up with started even though I’m not producing any energy to offset it. They told me it would not start for two months after installation was completed. This is by far the worst company I’ve ever worked with, with the exception of the DMV and IRS.

Momentum Can't Communicate Effectively with Customers
Momentum has put forth one of the WORST customer service efforts of any company that has done work on my home. From the get go, the guy who sold me the job told me he would be the ONLY guy that I would be in touch with, that HE was in charge of my job, no one else. I've never heard from him again. I had a roof install done as part of the work. The roofers left all manner of debris all over my yard as a consequence of poorly installed, ripped tarps that didn't catch any of the old roof material coming down. Still picking up nails and shingle remnants. I wanted additional panels put on, but I was told that I wouldn't need as many panels as I thought would be appropriate for my usage, and rather than producing enough energy, I feel as though I will still be owing Eversource. But I won't know that until my panels actually get connected, which hasn't happened yet. Panels were installed in March. I've had multiple inspections set up by a DIFFERENT customer service rep randomly texting me that I needed an inspection and that someone had to be at my home for it to happen. Most of these alerts were short notice without any consideration of whether or not anyone could actually be there for it, after the appointments had already been made. The last inspection, after the panels had been installed, was to check to see if the roof was properly installed. It consisted of a person walking around my house, without getting on the roof. I was then notified that I needed another visit from a roof repair person, which was also scheduled without previous knowledge or consent, for which I was unable to be home. Since then, I've not heard from ONE person at Momentum about my connection, when I will start generating...nothing. It is now nearly June. So I will tell everyone that is ever considering solar to steer clear of Momentum, as I should have.
