Mass Renewables did an excellent job from start to finish. Explained the process, the incentives, the expectations, and guided us throughout. They were extremely helpful comparing different quotes from their own company to another since no one seems to offer it the same exact way. They were very professional, careful, and clean putting up the panels and followed through on the state approval process (very quickly I might add). Couldn't recommend more highly.

Very Pleased with Mass Renewables!

We spent 9 months reviewing a full range of solar options. After discussions with multiple vendors, we decided to go with a purchased system due to the incentives available and a full return on investment in under 5 years. Mass Renewables was very helpful during this phase - helping us understand the various options, even options they did not offer. With facts in hand, we selected Mass Renewables to build and install our system. This was in part based on their reputation, willingness to educate us on solar, and answer our questions throughout the process. While they were not the cheapest company we looked at, they were also not the most expensive and we felt a quality installation with quality materials was important. While we had a minor issue during installation, Mike and team addressed it. Their level of service and quality is unmatched. The installed system looks spectacular - all conduits are hidden and overall the panels compliment our house rather than create an eyesore. Our system has been up and running for 8 months without a single issue. Mike and team remain accessible to answer any questions. Due to the mild winter, we've been over-producing when compared to original estimates - so we are very pleased! We highly recommend Mass Renewables and can't say enough about their professionalism.

Fantastic expperience

The whole experience was great. Marcia made the initial call and did a great job explaining my options. no pressure, just a great information session. Then Mike provided the official proposal, which was the lowest of the four quotes we received. It was clear and detailed the exact cost, which did not change. The components are top quality with long warranties (LG panels, SolarEdge inverter, AllEarth solar tracker unit). The installation team led by Jeff was polite and professional, and they installed the system on schedule. MassRenewables is a locally owned company that has been around a long time, predating the explosion in solar installations. So that gave me confidence that they will be around in the future should any issues arise.

Great Company!

I am so grateful for having chosen Mass Renewables with my solar project. I ended up having to put a new roof and chimney on once a leak was discovered during the support beam installation in the rafters. Jeff quickly put me in touch with a roofer who in turn put me in touch with a mason. Both parties did fabulous jobs on the roof and chimney respectively. It was done quickly too which allowed Jeff and crew to finish up with the solar panel installation on schedule. While the costs ended up going over what I had planned – I can’t image where I’d be if I had chosen one of those public solar companies. My guess is I wouldn’t have production coming from my roof at this point. Mike and Jeff were great to work with and those on the crew that I spoke with were also very friendly. I highly recommend Mass Renewables!

Excellent experience and not pushy

We've had our solar panels for just over a year now and couldn't be happier. From the first time Mike walked in the door we knew we chose the right company. Everyone was very friendly, never pushy and just an overall great company to work with with fair prices. We would highly recommend them if you are thinking about going solar.

Had an amazing experience!

I absolutely loved working with Mass Renewables! The clean and professional work done was above and beyond my expectations. Their consultative and pragmatic approach to fitting my into the best possible deployment has allowed me to capture the most sun and get the best bang for my buck. I had site visits and quotes from 5 vendors and found Mass Renewables to be the most competitive right off the bat. No pricing games or leasing gimmicks to try and get me to pay more than I should be. Also, the most thorough site plan out of all of them as well. Mike was absolutely amazing, and my sales rep Dianne had the best approach to the whole process out of all the other ones that I worked with. Hire these guys! You will not be disappointed.

Great Solar Company

We shopped around for Solar companies and interviewed 3 of them settling on Mass Renewables. We were very particular as to the aesthetics of the installation and owner Mike Kelley worked with us to not only choose nice looking panels but placement on the roof. Mike was so helpful and easy to work with through out the whole solar installation process. Mass Renewables showed up as planned with Jeff Herman a co-owner in the company leading the crew. The installation was neat, no roof damage, and electrical conduits strategically placed out of site. We are nearing the end of our first year cycle (installed May 2015) and production estimates seem to be right on. We highly recommend Mass Renewables for a well installed and designed solar installation that was priced below other companies. I wish all contractors were like Mike and Jeff.

Excellent experience!

A truly great experience from beginning to end. Mike and Jeff were fantastic to work with - very down to earth and genuinely interested in a top quality job. Everything about the experience was about doing the job right and to my satisfaction, not focused on getting me to sign or getting my check. Two other solar companies provided bids, at or higher than Mass Renewables. Both those companies sent young sales guys with polished robotic presentations, whereas with Mass Renewables I worked with people I almost immediately trusted, and they didn't disappoint. Any question I had they were there to answer - and still are. The job was completed on time and exactly as expected. Panels have been on and generating energy for almost 3 months and doing great! When neighbors ask about solar, I don't even hesitate - I send them right to Mass Renewables.

Great Experience

Overall a fantastic experience with Mass Renewables. I am very happy with the installation. There are great guys working for this company; they took the time to go through the details of the exterior and interior connections before starting work and worked with me on the placement of equipment and routing of conduit. The electrical work was neat and tidy, even down to the placement of the stickers. Everyone wore slip on shoe covers and drop cloths were used for the interior portions. Very impressed with the overall professionalism and attention to detail. The system is meeting the expected generation levels. No pressure sales, took plenty of time to answer all of my questions.

Great Experience, Highly Recommend

I contacted Mass Renewables around April 2015, based on the very positive reviews I had read on this site. A day or two later, I received a proposal from them, showing an image of our house with solar panels attached, along with an estimate of cost. This was already impressive as the first thing I wanted to get a feel for was pricing. After speaking with a total of 4 companies (also highly rated), the choice was clear Mass Renewables would be our installer. They had a very low pressure and informative sales process, had access to the panels I wanted, and provided the quickest estimate of an installation date. They worked with me on numerous revisions of quotes, answered all my questions patiently, and ultimately provided a competitive price and a relatively quick install date. Not only did they meet that date, the system was completed about a week early. During the install, I was very impressed with the process. The crew was friendly and hardworking. Every night before they left, all the equipment and surrounding area was left clean and tidy. At the end of the install, I was truly amazed at how precise the panels were installed. They were perfectly straight and centered on the roof line with no gaps between panels. Jeff really takes pride on this type of work. The electrical install was hidden as much as possible, and there are no visible wires on the roof or house. Even the work done in the basement was very neat and symmetrical. The initial output estimates given have been accurate, our system is actually producing a bit more than anticipated. We have not had any roof leaks or any problem at all with our system. Mike still answers my questions promptly, just as he did prior to the sale. I would absolutely recommend Mass Renewables and will certainly use them again if the need arises.

Trust Mass. Renewables to install your owned solar panel array

After an extended analysis of the pros and cons of purchasing and installing a solar photovoltaic panel array, and review and solicitation of information from several experienced, well rated solar installers, we chose Mass. Renewables to do our installation. We were very pleased with the result. Mike Kelley, head of the firm, turned out to be an easy person to do business with. He was flexible with negotiation of the contract, prompt in following up and responding to our questions and needs, and diligent in seeing that the installation went according to schedule. Deb and Dianne in the office were very efficient in providing us with a provisional system design and projections of output, cost and return, which we had them revise several times before making a commitment to go ahead with an agreement. Despite these issues, we got the work done in 2015, ahead of the agreed upon early 2016 timeframe, which was gave us a nice tax credit for 2015. The crew assigned to our project was professional, prompt and courteous throughout the several day install. This is not a project for the DIY enthusiast. Even licensed electricians need training and significant experience to do this work properly. Nick, the electrician who works for Mass. Renewables, proved to have the expertise needed to deal with the individual characteristics required of our installation. Mike was also diligent in getting the required town permits and inspections, and in providing us with the information about and referral to a solar aggregator he has worked with, who then got us signed up for the SREC (solar renewable energy certificate) state program. This will provide us with a 40 quarter cash income based on the aggregator's sale of our solar production in 1000 kWh increments, as part of larger blocks of solar energy output to third parties. It was one of the key points that convinced us that the significant upfront cash cost to install the solar array could produce a return on our investment within a reasonable period of time (in fact, the break-even point where we are projected to recover our costs, is less than 4.5 years). For those who are considering the alternative of leasing the solar panels from the many available installers promising zero upfront cost, we think the decision to own the system is the better one, promising significant returns in a reasonable time frame. After a month of use, our solar output has exceeded the projections provided us by Mass. Renewables when we were analyzing the project prior to contract. Our January electrical bill based on net consumption was about 25% of what it was a year ago, while the projection provided was closer to 50% of year ago consumption. While one month can't be projected to continue at this rate, it is indicative that the projections were conservative. We are also very pleased with the warranties of labor and equipment provided with our install, which extend well beyond our anticipated use of the system (and are transferrable to any subsequent owner of our home), given our personal circumstances. In conclusion, I would encourage people sitting on the fence about solar to give Mass. Renewables a call and let them analyze your possibilities without exacting any pressure to sign a contract. After comparing their responsiveness with alternative suppliers asked to provide the same kind of upfront information, there was no comparison. In every respect, Mass. Renewables did a better job, and their price was more competitive and responsive to our individual situation. A+ rating.

Very pleased with the overall experience

I will highly recommend Mass Renewable and Mike Kelley’s team. My system was installed September 2015. I done lot of research and took lot of time to decide and in the end I was very pleased with my decision to go with Mass Renewable. Throughout the process Mike was very responsive and addressed any concerns we had. He was also helpful and willing to accommodate any design change we were looking for based our preferences. Job was completed within estimated time frame and professionally. Overall sales process was very smooth there was no pressure tactics like other companies. Price quoted by Mass Renewable was very competitive. I will be very comfortable Mass Renewable and Mike Kelley’s team to my friends and family.

12.3 kW DC system in Western Mass

I was initially introduced to Mass Renewables and Mike Kelley through the EnergySage website which provides free quotes from multiple solar contractors and allows for side by side comparisons. Since I was new to the whole solar process I did my own research and had many questions that Mike answered through the EnergySage website usually the same day or within the next day. The quote that Mass Renewables provided was about 10% less than two other solar companies for similar sized systems or was the same price as another company that would provide 5 less panels and therefore would produce less power. Mike suggested placing panels on least obtrusive roof side while still providing the same power production as the garage side of the house which was visible from the street even though that required a longer conduit run to the main electrical panel. The other solar companies all suggested the garage roof which I assume was easier for them to install but was more visible and would potentially dump snow directly onto driveway during the winter months. Some of the other solar companies would have installed inverter on outside wall of house instead of in the basement as Mass Renewables did, again showing Mass Renewables interest in providing a quality installation in all aspects. From the time I signed contract until solar was installed and producing power was about two months. We had friends who had solar installed through one of the "free" install companies and that took six months just to get turned on after installation. We have seen many of the "no money down" solar companies in our town with the electrical conduit running from a second story roof right down the center side of the house - not very aesthetically pleasing. Mass Renewables installation process went very smoothly and after six months is producing more power than was anticipated and is running without any issues. We were very happy with Mass Renewables and would recommend them highly to anyone interested in owning a solar energy system. In fact we have another family member who will have Mass Renewables install their solar panels after our positive experience.

Quality Workmanship

With the seemingly endless amount of solar companies willing to install "free" systems we didn't think we could own our own system and reap all its benefits ourselves. Mike and his team worked with us throughout the entire process from the quote to the financing to filling out paperwork for the state and setting us up with the SREC broker and continues to answer questions that we have had. The installation itself was smooth, clean, seamless and professional. The team includes quality craftsman who take pride in their work and the company. We would highly recommend looking into Mass Renewables for your solar project.

We've been very impressed with Mass Renewables. They were on time and on schedule with an incredibly professional team. We also wanted to send a special thanks to the sales associate, Dianne Martz, who answer many of our questions and helped set up our financing during her vacation! Mike Kelley lead the project at my house and it could not have gone much smoother. He took care of the paperwork for rebates and enrollment in programs, coordinated the installation with his Jeff and his team, and followed up to answer any questions we had. Outstanding Job

After several months of research and many quotes I decided to go with Mass Renewables. I am glad I did. The Crew lead by Jeff, were very friendly and courteous. All the construction was done with the curb appeal in mind. All we can see is the all Black panels. All of the wires and conduit are hidden from view. They took care of everything from getting the proper permits to overseeing the inspections from the town. Their warranties were much better than all of the other companies I looked into. Mike and Jeff was very easy to get in touch with if I had any questions or concerns. And it turned out that they were one of the least expensive quotes I received for the equipment I wanted. Great job by all!!

After doing three months of research, I signed on with Mass Rewnewables. I have NEVER seen such a well organized crew like this. Everyone knew what to do, when to do it. The communication was great and was an enjoyment to watch these guys assemble this system. Recently installed solar customer

I went with Mass Renewables after reading nothing but positive reviews from their customers. Seeing I was making a large investment it was more important to me to work with a reputable company than it was to try and save a couple of dollars. I wanted someone I could count on if and when I ever needed to utilize the warranties on my system. The entire experience with Mass Renewables was professional and handled by a great group of individuals. In simple terms they delivered on everything they said they would, at the original quoted prices, when they said they would, and in some cases even ahead of schedule. My system passed all inspections and the actual solar output has been exceeding projection estimates. It was a pleasure working with Mass Renewables and I highly recommend them to others.

34-panel SolarWorld PV Installation

I could not be more pleased with the design, workmanship, and performance of the 34-panel, Solar World, 9.5 kW system Mike Kelly and his team at Mass Renewables, Inc. installed on my roof in Norfolk, MA. I went through a thorough investigation, received several estimates for various designs, and decided on MR because of a successful track record and a willingness to customize the system to meet my requirements. I asked lots of questions and Mike and Jeff were prompt with their replies, communicating so that I could understand the process, how the system worked, and what they would deliver. After I re-roofed my house I contacted Mike for a date for when he could start and he hit it within one day of his initial estimate. My only regret is that I don’t have more space to add panels.

Centennial Drive

Mass Renewables did a great job installing the solar panels on my house. The installation was completed in 4 days and the crew was professional and clean. They recommended I go with the LG true black and it was a great recommendation as the panels blend into the black roof. They hid the conduit going from the roof to the basement so the ascetics are great which was my wife's biggest concern with the project (shes very happy with the results).
