9 kW Roof Solar PV System = 9,000 kWh/year
Thank you Kevin Lehman and SunCommon for helping Heidi and I go solar in 2019 with a 9.0 kW rooftop system that has produced 9,000 kWh annually! This has effectively cut our electricity cost from $0.185/kWh down to $0.09/kWh. It is very much appreciated!
Response from SunCommon
Hi Illari -- We're thrilled to hear how much you've saved on electricity with your solar system. Thank you for sharing your experience, and for shouting our Kevin!

More than good
With 6 weeks experience, beginning at Dec. 27, the worst of days for solar in Vermont, it has been EXCITING (true, maybe I am strange) to watch the solar contribution climb daily as the sun gains elevation, and the clouds and snow on the panels clear. Already in the first week of February I am more than meeting, recently tripling, my 24 hour electric load. Sometimes it is scary to think maybe I over-sized the system by too much! But my wintertime load is slight, and my summertime load is much larger, so we'll see. But I am so looking forward to replacing my Honda fossil (although it is the best gas car I have ever had) with an EV, and my NG water heater and HVAC with heat pumps. The SunCommon crew was great, worked with me through every aspect, rolling with the changes and challenges, ahead of schedule and on-budget. Tip of the hat to JT Lukens and Ryan DuBois, my initial and principal contacts.
Response from SunCommon
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience! Nothing makes us happier than hearing you had a sunny experience with JT, Ryan and the rest of our team. Congrats on going solar!

A truly respectful and professional experience.
From my first call with Zoila Stokes I was always treated respectfully and professionally. Joe Zietz was knowledgeable, patient, and invested for the entire project. Anika Savio did my site evaluation and despite a very cold wet day she worked with me for hours to accomplish the best configuration for me and my site. This impacted the long term benefits for me and my family greatly. The install team: Bryan Flynn Calab McCaul John O'Connor Jameson Lecomte Nick Holochuck Nick Calamari Joe Hughes Chandler Burger Grayson Ball Joe Schell They were respectful of my home, the excavator was so good you cannot find the trench in my yard at all. The inspector for Nyserta also commented that it was a very neat professional job. Loralee Reidy was extremely responsive and thorough as the project manager with scheduling, permits, applications, and continuous follow up on all of them to keep my project moving. I would recommend SunCommon to anyone serious about Solar Power. Side note: you get what you put into it so ask a lot of questions, talk to others who have solar, and really try to understand it yourself.
Response from SunCommon
Hi Jeremy, thanks for sharing your experience. We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed working with our team - and we really appreciate you giving them all a shout out! Congrats on going solar!

Great job Pete Edling and the SunCommon Crew!
Everyone at SunCommon did a fantastic job getting our solar array installed. A big thank you to Pete Edling and the rest of the crew at SunCommon! In spite of a pandemic and weather delays, you guys got the install completed within a few days of the original target date. Amazing! It has now been 6 months of hard work for our new employees, as we affectionately call our solar panels. Zero issues encountered. Other than you guys calling us to see how things were going, we have not heard a thing from us. We have not had to reach out to you for return visits or support of any kind. I wish all my home improvement and maintenance projects were like this! From an investment perspective, going solar was definitely a great decision for us. Even on this less than optimal Southern Vermont February day, the employees generated almost 40 kW of electricity. We are looking forward to our first spring and summer with the new employees paying off our initial investment. Thanks again SunCommon for making it so easy and successful!
Response from SunCommon
This review made our day—we love that you call your solar panels your new employees! Thanks for sharing your experience, we're so glad you're satisfied with your system.

SunCommon Rocks!
We can’t say enough about our positive experience working with SunCommon! From the first point of contact and through installation, we have been impressed by the ease, professionalism, and thoroughness of everyone we have worked with. Our advisor, Nick, was especially patient and helpful as we took our sweet time venturing into this new world of solar, which took a lot of explaining and waiting while we considered our options. We are psyched to have taken this step to using renewable energy, and can now proudly say we have a solar system on our roof! Thanks to Nick, and the whole SunCommon team, for getting us set up!

Expert guidance and an exceptional experience
We purchased an 11.40kW LG solar panel system from Jeremy Berube at Sun Common this fall, and as promised, Sun Common installed it in November. We chose Sun Common for several reasons; first, working with Jeremy was a pleasure. He took time to understand our goals, educate us about our options, and expertly guided us to make an informed purchase to meet our immediate and future needs. Secondly, Sun Common was able to install our system in a matter of months, while the other companies we spoke with could not install the system until spring. As for price, Sun Common was competitive and offered attractive financing options. Regarding the installation, communication was on point, and the crew leader was professional and expertly walked us through choices needed to make in terms of the placement of our meter and inverter. They also cleaned up after themselves meticulously. I recommend Sun Common and working with Jeremy with complete confidence and enthusiasm.

Mr Steve
Mostly good. Took longer to install than I thought which resulted in no solar energy production until almost winter when the sun is low and the snow flies. They didn't give me an estimated schedule. But I am getting more production than I thought I would in December. Even this morning after several inches of snow overnight I was getting some output. The response time to my inquiries could have been better, especially from the project manager. I also lost a weekend of production because I wasn't told that all I had to do was throw the PV disconnect switch on after the utility installed their meter. This project is very expensive for someone my age so I will have a better idea of the return on investment after a year of history and when I get my tax rebate to assess the total initial cost against expected future benefit. My other source of energy is propane which I expect will get increasingly expensive so this will offset some of that. The other unknown is the future cost of electricity. All these considerations will impact the long term assessment of the value of this project.
Response from SunCommon
Steve, we're sorry to hear that you didn't have a 5-Star experience. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and provide constructive feedback regarding the install timeline and communications. Please let us know if there is anything we can do. Congratulations on making the switch to solar

Fantastic!!
This is an awesome company to work with. And the best part of it is the team. Everyone is really helpful, insightful, and considerate. Joe Zietz helped design my package with me and talked through all of my questions, from tech to finance. Super helpful, patient, and thoughtful. Sam Wilo oversaw the permitting and install and has been great - super helpful, patient, and thoughtful. The install crew is wonderful too, taking their time to explain everything and working with me to make sure it's the best and meets all my needs. Pete Vandenshay (best electrician ever!) and Chandler Burger prepped the electrical area for my inverters and did so in a way that really works with other household needs. Jameson LeCompte and Nick Calamari did really careful excavation and trenching work, keeping the area clean and cared for. Josh Doherty and his team, including Eric Bush, Dave Plummer, Ibra Ndiaye, Michael Schilling, and I think another team-member, did a really amazing install. Everyone worked together seamlessly and took excellent care. They left the job site super clean and paid great attention to detail. This is definitely the team you want to do a big project with. Nice, thoughtful, talented people. They just completed the install so now we're waiting for the utility company to sort out paperwork and stuff on its end. Once that's completed we'll be up and running. I suspect everything will be perfect, and if there's any problem I feel really confident that this team has got my back. Thanks Suncommon, for making this big purchase and big commitment and pleasant and exciting experience.

From start to finish what a pleasure to work with
Thanks to Drew, Loralee and project leader Joe Hughes, From initial contact, design and construction you all made the process of fullfilling our dream of having solar on our roof a reality. We were consulted every step of the way so far!!!! I could not believe the work ethic of their team. The workers descended on our house like a hive of bees, working so efficiently and respectfully for three days of "fun" in the sun. It was an amazing sight to see them working on our very steep roof. I kind of miss them, when they all drove up on time every morning of the installation. Getting to work and enjoying their work. I higly recommend this company. rk

Great Company with Great People did Great Work
I am very pleased with the work by the SunCommon team from beginning to end. We started the solar process at our homestead in New Scotland, NY as the Covid-19 pandemic hit, which delayed installation, but we picked right up as restrictions lifted. The SunCommon folks did most of the legwork for financing, kept me updated constantly with progress and next steps, and navigated the entire process well. The siting and installation crew was friendly, explained everything as they went, solved several challenges because of the layout of our property, and did a professional installation job of the ground-mounted solar array and the Powerwall battery backup in the basement. The crew paid attention to little details to ensure a quality installation that would last, and at the end were proud of their work in making a difference for the climate and sustainability one installation at a time. Thank you Lindsay, Loralee, Tim and Tim, Peter and Dave, and Mike and crew!!!

Best Solar Installer in Columbia County, NY
I had been looking to install solar for about two years and hesitated undertaking this project because I did not know much about the technology and my research pointed to the primary importance of the installation itself. My concern was to find a technically competent and ethically grounded company that would guide me to solar. After having unfruitful conversations with other solar installers, I realized that solar was a discretionary purchase and I needed to be as sure as possible that I was not going to buy any problems; I wondered whether it might be better not to proceed. And then I met Jen from SunCommon; she is a knowledgeable advocate for solar power and a terrific representative of her company. No hustle or sales pitch, much patience, and a willingness to listen to my concerns and wishes. I felt comfortable with her and never felt pressured to sign up on the dotted line. When I eventually did so, it was a four and a half page contract, clearly written, that was fair to both parties and a welcome contrast to other solar contracts I have read, one of them being around sixteen pages long; all these rejected contracts were weighted in favor of the company over the consumer. Not the case with SunCommon; both parties were granted access to a level playing field. When we were in the final planning stage before effecting the installation, I brought to Jen’s attention a safety concern that I believed should be addressed. According to code the solar panels needed to have an emergency cut-off switch located next to my electrical panel, but I pointed out that in an emergency---an extremely rare event such as a fire, which almost always is the result of a faulty installation; again, the install is the most important part of the project---the firefighters would have to gain access to my basement, in what might be a burning house. I strongly suggested that a second emergency cut-off switch be installed on the side of my house facing my driveway, providing easy and safe access to the firefighters. I was not at all surprised that SunCommon readily agreed and such a device was added to the project at no additional cost to me. Put simply, SunCommon cares. And so do the persons who work for it. Josh, who is the lead of an extraordinary install team, was technically expert and his crew knowledgeable and hard working. Moreover, they were friendly and respectful of our home; really good guys. So was Loralee, the Project Manager of the installation; she was patient and ready to accommodate and answer any question before, during and after the installation. It was a pleasure working with her and all her colleagues at SunCommon. I waited a couple of months before writing this review, to see if any problems might develop; none have, but I am confident that should something need be addressed and remedied SunCommon would stand up to the problem without delay or equivocation. SunCommon and its employees earned a five star review.
