When I had panels installed I was told I would save at least 50% or better each month. That was a lie. It’s more like 5%. Not worth all the money it cost. This system will never pay for itself with so little return.

They don't reply emails. my panels need services and I have been waiting for months.

Very pushy sales team. No scheduling for the installation. Crews just showed up to work. Cannot contact the company via phone or text. They do not respond. Trying to sell my home and not able to speak to a representative to manage the warranty transfer.

This company will not call you back once they get your money. Our panels have not produced properly since installation in 2017. We have called and emailed and asked for help with no solutions offered and many times no response at all. Very soon after instillation I was diagnosed with cancer and our fight with solar panels was put on hold. I am recovering now and we are again going to attempt to get some help. I think we are going to have to get a lawyer to help us with this company.

Been trying for over 6 Months to get them to come out to look at my system because it's not working correctly. No one returns my phone calls and now they don't even answer the phone.

They installed my system and my house has almost burned down twice due to their inabilty to properly wire my battery backup system. The battery pack overheated and burned up twice.They also offer a lifetime warranty on the system but good luck getting them to honor it. If I could give them no stars I would!

If this review saves just one person from signing up with this company, it will be worth the time! I signed up in September and it took months for me to even hear back from this company. They convinced me to sign up without doing my due diligence bc they said that if I waited, I'd miss out on the 30% tax credit... Well, I signed up and STILL MISSED OUT ON 30%! A few weeks ago (mid-January), products just started arriving at my home - a battery, inverter, and some other components. Nobody from Homestar ever said anything about the delivery and I had no idea that I would be the one responsible for warehousing the materials! I left a voicemail for Homestar on Friday letting them know I was canceling. They immediately called me back (guess that's the way to get a returned phone call) and said that it was too late to cancel and that they were going to be installing on Monday. Really? I wonder when they were planning on notifying me of that?! The person I spoke to said that if I tried to cancel now I would be fined - even though there is NOTHING in the paperwork I signed that mentions anything about a fine. I called the loan company to cancel the solar loan and they were under the impression that the project was almost complete. Apparently the solar company had lied to them about the project status so they could keep getting paid! In short, they wouldn't allow me to cancel the loan until they spoke with the contractor because all they had to rely on was the communication from Homestar that showed actual work had been done on the project. LIES! I'm currently working with my power company to make sure the interconnection with them is canceled so that Homestar can't just show up and start installing panels. I was so excited about going solar and this has been an absolute NIGHTMARE!

Bad customer service, faulty installation. Deceitful sales tactics. Wouldn’t recommend my worst enemy to this company.

do not use this company. I purchesed this system 0n 06/08/19, to this day it still does not work. they told me that the only person that could turn the system on had quit. They told me that there was not one other person in the whole company that can turn it on. They finally got someone out here to turn it on and make sure it was working. I just got my electric bill after having it turned on for a month and there was nothing stating that there was solar power being used. I called the electric co. they told me that it still was not working and that i was using electric only for the last month. i have made 3 payments on this solar system and made many calls to the solar company and it has got me no where. It's a scam this company does not care about their customers once they get your money. Stay away from this company.

After missed appointments they finally spent an hour with a cool laptop presentation. Answered all the questions. Never could get back in touch. Good thing. They had under powered and not backup system forecasted Don't use them if you get in touch

New Owners called and asked me to change my review ALSO. I said I would rather have a working system which I paid $55,000 for instead of the $400 to change my review. That was 2 months ago and I STILL have not heard anything. I told him that if I could get anything like I was PROMISED I would sing their praises. I guess it really was not worth them delivering on their promises. $55,000 to get $125 back per month in electricity is NO BARGAIN!!! New Owners, NOT improved. Review Update 3/24/2020: HomeStar Solar has gone through at least 2 Owners now but are just as bad as indicated in my review. They called me when the new owners took over and asked me to take down my negative comments about them. I said I would when they fixed the problems. The caller just hung up on me and NOTHING happened or changed.

I was contacted by Reginald Red Reed contacted on November 29, 2018 offering me $400 to edit my review and I advised him I was driving but in case he did not have any notes on my account I would call him back when I could explain my situation to him. I called him and left a voicemail stating $400 was not going to fix my problem. There is not enough panels on my house to eliminate my electric bill. My loan payment will be going up in January and this is the worst investment I ever made. I have not received any further communication from anyone at this company. Jeremy Pitts claimed to be the owner when he sold me the system, but with all the discovered lies, I'm convinced that was a lie too. BTW I was given two loans and paid one off within the 12 month promotional period to avoid interest (over $10,350.00) My electric bill is averaging $75/month plus a loan payment of $160/month is double what my electric bill average was before getting Solar Panels. I was also told I would be put on a list for people to contact for references and would receive compensation for it. In the year prior to my negative review I received ZERO referral calls.

I've had my system for over a year. Here's my experience: The sales guy was pretty straight forward. I have full sun for about 10 hrs so the numbers made sense. The installers were courteous, neat and did a pretty good job. The quality of the equipment is above board and made in America. The BIG negative for me is the customer service, if you can call it that. It's really a joke. They either don't know or don't care. That whole crew seems to need a serious shift in customer care.

The insulation in the attic is all messed up. The job was not completed until several phone calls later.

One loan was $10,350.00 I paid it off within 12 months to keep from paying $211.05 per month for 10 years ($25,326.00). Almost 2 1/2 times the amount of the loan. Another loan for $14,750 after a year and half of $110 month they are telling me my payment will increase to $160 in February, 2019. That loan was also supposed to be for 10 years for 3.99% interested and lower if I set up automatic payments, which I did, and they have automatically taken the $110 every month on time.

I would give this company a zero if I could. The sales representative sold the system based on us receiving double the federal credit that we actually can. I have the quote in writing. I contacted the company a dozen times and was never called back by the owner. They have "covered" themselves by a waiver that you sign. So thinking the system would cost $9k and it actually costing $18 is a huge difference. Additionally, the output of the system isn't as good as they estimate, so it won't pay for itself for decades if at all. I would avoid this company at all costs.

We have had trouble from the very beginning. It was not communicated to the installers that the panels were going on top of our detached garage. Therefore, they did not have all the equipment to complete the installation. They said I should expect a call about scheduling an appointment to finish the work. I had to call after a week to schedule something. They finished the work and I was told the THEY would inform the power company to come out and approve the work. Weeks after, I had to call the power company. So on and so on with Homestar Solar Solutions. The original installment was in November and the panels were finally activated in January. We were extremely disappointed with our power bills from Feb-present date. There has been no significant decrease in our power bill as we were assured there would be. We called Homestar Solar Solutions (have been calling and e-mailing for months) to express our concerns / issues with little reply. They finally agreed that our power bill should not be as high with the production of our solar panels and said someone from scheduling would call us and set up an appointment to check the equipment. We have yet to get that call as of today. DO NOT choose this company if you decide to go solar. I would have selected NO STARS but I was forced to select at least one start to submit this review.

Had the worst experience with this company. Owner is the BIGGEST liar. He subcontracted ALL the work with Arrested Solar. Thierry actually guy put Ice-cold product in my 1 year old AC. Watch the guy drop the injection tool in sand, brushed it off a bit and continued to put that garbage in. After completed, service guy left. Next day took my AC over an hour to drop from 87, to 86. Had called but was told they are very busy and get back to me, never did. I hired outside AC contractor, got bill for $650, and Homestead owner tells me his guy did nothing wrong, and not reimbursin me. Nor was Nest thermostat hooked up correctly. Owner stated"He did not give me any permission to get a contractor" !!!! Who the hell does he think he is? Guess I have to take them to court, plus same as others out there, was promised electric bill would only be about $30 a month, with calculations they did for the array. Is that why my lowest bill is $78 , on a good month? PEOPLE TAKE MY ADVISE, LOOK ELSEWHERE! or be stuck with a $26,000 loan for crap that don't work as stated DO NOT USE THIS BS COMPANY !!!!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Homestar solar came in and checked out my house gave me a est. They were very professional. The wife and I decided to go ahead for the install. I'm sure glad we did.

My experience has been very stressful. It took six months to get me online. Now I find, the system is not helping with my electric bills. I need double the size of the array I have. Now, I am stuck with $30000 of debt to pay off and still paying my normal electric bill.

I had been researching solar panels for my home for some time. I feel very fortunate to have found HomeStar Solar Solutions because there are many solar companies out there but not all solar companies are the same. I choose to purchase and not lease my solar panels. The solar PV system prices in the U.S. have dropped steadily so this makes purchasing even more appealing not to mention the Federal and State tax incentives for SC residents. As electricity rates continue to rise, purchasing solar panels for my home was a no-brainer. This was a seamless process all the way from the first meeting with the evaluator to the installers. The office staff and the people in the field doing the actual installations coordinated everything including building permits, scheduling, etc. I was impressed with the integrity of the owner……..the evaluator originally quoted a system that would have been adequate for my current energy usage. However, I knew that my electricity bills were much higher when the children were living at home. I requested figures on a larger PV system because the house can accommodate this. The owner quickly asked me who suggested a larger system for my home. It was my idea because I am aware of how much electricity this house can use when it is full of occupants. I felt that the owner was questioning me because he wanted to make certain that his evaluator was not trying to “up sell” a larger system in order to make a larger commission. This impressed me. I felt as if the owner was protecting me as a consumer, making sure it was the right system for me. There was another small issue during the installation process but HomeStar Solar Solutions made it right. I also had a radiant barrier and new insulation installed in my attic. This will help make my entire house more energy efficient and has helped with my gas heating bills. I love my Nest thermostat which I can control remotely as well. There is also another application that is strictly for the solar power monitoring. It permits me to view how much energy I have produced with any given day. The charts and graphs are awesome. This is constant monitoring of each solar panel and will let me know if one of the panels is not producing as it should. I almost forgot to mention the warranty from HomeStar Solar Solutions is phenomenal. I am very happy with my purchase through HomeStar Solar Solutions and I do highly endorse them.

Homestar solar solutions is a very reliable company from the initial in home visit until the job was complete they were there for me I can't say enough of professional people they really are. I'm very excited to see how much I will save on my power bill. They make really adorable now so it can fit into anybodys budget.

Everything about our choice to go solar and choosing Homestar Solar Solutions has been a home run. Going into the project, we thought that solar panels would be all we needed. Homestar came to our home and very intelligently did a great job with their presentation. Homestar's solution is not only the solar panel, but a radiant barrier in the attic (on the bottom of the roof rafters) ,additional blown in insulation, an attic solar fan and last but not least energy efficient Nest thermostats. These thermostats are amazing (look them up on Google) Each part of the job was handled by contractorss that Homestar has a relationship with. All of them were very knowledgeable, courteous and most importantly on time. As the job evolved any questions that I had were answered promptly. The Homestar Guarantee is remarkable and can be extended should you choose.

Already 42% savings over the last two years with the GAP. I would highly recommend this company if you are trying to save on your energy bills. Can't wait to start generating electricity.

Very professional, courteous service, from the installers to the office staff with whom you only contact by phone or email. The attic reflective barrier is a HUGE plus, and the system was up and running in no time! Highly recommended company.

Everything looks great, from the panels to the insulation and reflective barrier, even the wiring looks great. we haven't passed inspection yet nor has Duke set the new meter, but everything looks top notch. We have had one very hard rain since the installation and there are no leaks.

Even though you will be dealing with different installer professionals, I experienced an excellent attitude, knowledgeable, great attitude in the work they ALL did. Great Job. Very professional and no problems with their work. Had several issues, normal in my opinion, were handled in a very professional manner.

Our experience with this company was surprisingly great. They arrived on time from sales to completion and walked us through the complete process from system decisions to the financing. They were always friendly, helpful and most of all patient. And cleaned up after themselves. There were a couple of misunderstandings but they were quick to respond and clarify or correct. Our solar is performing well - we are feeding back into our electric company woo hoo!! Their system consists of more than just solar and includes house upgrades in the energy efficiency category - a great plus. The product seems to be of high quality after we reviewed it online. Plus I trust these folks. If they disappoint, I will update this review. Highly recommend this company.
