I waited almost a year to write a review, so the glow of being able to be off grid had faded and I was dealing with facts. HESolar is the first solar company I’ve worked with that was on time, on budget and efficient. What they “sold” me is exactly what I received. I bought panels 7 years ago - a six month installation and more headaches than I ever imagined, ordeal. Then we decided we needed batteries - and HESolar. They were recommended and lived up to expectations. The installation was quick and painless, and the product is great. My last power bill was $7 - the one before that was a $2 credit. The only way I know we lose power is the text message I receive saying we are running on batteries. If you have solar, you need Tesla batteries and the services of HESolar.

HESOLAR was fantastic from start to finish with our solar panel installation. Derrick was able to present a very through and competitive bid. Erick performed a site visit to confirm exactly what was needed, and Erick was also on site and involved the day of the installation. Derrick and Eric are the owners, not just salesmen and they have their own employees for the installation, not contractors. The installation of our 21 solar panels went quickly and smoothly. The job was very professionally done, and we are very satisfied customers. Following the installation, they even worked with PEC to get the final inspection completed and we are enjoying the difference in our electric bills. We highly recommend HESOLAR!

I listened to several presentations over the course of a year. By chance, after being unsatisfied, I came across HE Solar and boy am I glad it worked out. Instantaneous feedback from my first email. I had a virtual meeting, which allowed me to validate everything that was being said while it was being said. They looked at the roof the next day and I signed. Long story short...they do what they say, when they say they're going to do it. They handle the paperwork perfectly. Six weeks later I'm powering my house with solar. They even identified a roofing problem that has been there for seven years since the house was built and now I'm getting that fixed before total failure. Let the master electricians show you what they know how to do.

One word describes Eric and Derrick “Amazing”. Quick response time, works great with HOA (if you have one), and over all great quality work. Couldn't ask for anything more. We live in a neighborhood that is still being built and I’m starting to notice other company’s work and the look of ours is so much cleaner. I have only the best to say about my experience with HESOLAR. First, I love the product ( My solar rig quickly made me wish I had went 10 years earlier). Second, I wouldn't have changed anything about the installation, personnel, deal, support, or overall experience. Definitely am emphasizing a full 5 stars :)

HESOLAR was very professional and did excellent work. I had them add additional panels to an existing system. There work was far superior to the previous work.

I interviewed four companies. HESolar was the only company that did not send a salesperson. Derrick and Eric are the owners and master electricians of HESolar. You deal with them directly. Their sales approach is low key. In other words, they wish to provide their customers a quality, cost effective installation. They do not attempt to sell solar power to folks who have not yet decided that solar is for them. There are many solar power providers in the Austin area. I suspect many will fold once the Federal Government rebate goes away. HESolar's two owners are master electricians and will continue to be master electricians irrespective of the solar market. Thus, they will be there to support their customers long after many of their competitors have closed their doors. HESolar’s web site was the most informative of the solar web sites I reviewed. It is focused on educating the consumer rather than on selling a product. Would I use them again? You bet I would.

HE Solar installed our system in early 2018 after we spent many months investigating local solar companies. Derrick was very patient in answering our numerous questions over the course of that time and was very open to listen to our concerns and changes that we wanted to make to his initial design. Their quote was competitive, their references were strong, they offer options for US made equipment, as well as offered a small incentive discount. They set a date for the install and met it, completed in a timely manner and left the outside of our property as well as our attic in great shape. They have also been very good about follow up with us. A very good local company you can trust!

I decided to go solar a year ago, partly to take advantage of the tax credit, partly to increase my property value and lower my monthly stultifies costs. Mete with Derrick found him to be very professional and thorough. They designed a system to fit my needs. Through the whole process no sales talk just straight talk. Since installing the system I have reduced my summer month electric bill from a maximum of $80.00 per month.

We interviewed several Solar systems installers (some would not listen to our specific needs, others wanted to only install equipment they selected, some price themselves out of this world, etc.) and immediately, HESolar stood out. First, Mr. Derrick Hoffman came by the house and spent the time to evaluate our needs, assess the house and answer our many questions. Additionally, for the equipment we requested, the quote was very reasonable and fair. When we finally decided to take the plunge, within a few days, Derrick came by with two of his qualified technicians and in two days had the entire install completed to spec. They took care of all the paper work, coordinating with the electrical company and scheduling the entire job. Once the electrical company came by to check the install, we went solar. As we had anticipated, Derrick and Eric Hoffman were punctual, professional and accommodating when needed. We cannot recommend them enough. It is so rare to find contractors who care about their projects and make sure all aspects are done properly and completely. We will be sure to recommend them to all our friends and business partners. Highly recommended! Very knowledgeable and informative during the initial consultation. Derrick (owner) was able to give me a quote for multiple configurations the same day. The process is tricky with HOA rules but Derrick filled out and sent over all the required paper work for us. The whole process was painless, quick, and the panels work and look great!

HEsolar is a locally owned company based out of Buda TX. Their knowledge and experience surpasses most of the individuals pitching solar in the greater Austin area. Believe me, I met with over seven sales reps. In many cases, I knew more than they did. Unlike most solar companies, the brothers do all of their own work and one of them is always on the job-site. You have a master electrician and solar expert installing your solar panels, not some general labor crew off the street. Their pricing is very competitive - well below most for Panasonic panels. Seriously, look no further, you can't go wrong using the brothers! I have extremely high expectations when it comes to knowledge, experience, and quality of work. The brothers exceeded my expectations. As you may know, this is rare in today's world.

My wife and I recently made the decision that we wanted to contribute our share to keeping our environment cleaner while reducing our monthly bill. After an investigation on the internet, we settled on HESolar based on the exceptional reviews that we read. I am here to tell you that those exceptional reviews are NOT exaggerated. I dealt with Derrick Hoffman from my original request for proposal to completion of the installation of our Solar PV System. Derrick was nothing but professional in his dealings with me and I never felt pressure to make a purchase. He simply explained what his proposed system could do for us and provided a cost quote to install the system that I had asked for. Derrick directed and participated in the system installation. He and his crew were so unobtrusive while working at our home we almost didn't realize they were here. The work was done within the time frame promised and there were no surprises. The utility company inspector that performed the system installation inspection said that HESolar had done a "first class installation". If you are considering installing solar at your home or business I highly recommend that you talk with HESolar before you make your decision.

HEsolar installed a 5.5 kW at my house in October 2015. I contacted many different solar contractors, but my decision ultimately came down to two, HEsolar and Freedom Solar. Both companies came to my house within 24 hours to provide an estimate, and both companies offered the newest technology on the market. I chose HEsolar because they were $1,800 cheaper than Freedom Solar for the exact same system (and yes I compared apples to apples). Additionally, I preferred the small business approach of HEsolar, knowing that the business owner himself, Derrick Hoffman, was going to be the individual physically installing the solar panels on my roof. As for the installation process, HEsolar was always punctual with their arrival times and transparent with every step of the process. Derrick and his crew were extremely respectful of my property and my house, never leaving any trash behind and taking their shoes off when entering my house. Within two weeks of the installation, my house experienced 20 inches of rain, and I'm happy to report that I've had no roof leaks as a result of my solar panels. HEsolar also did all of the permitting, loan, and rebate paperwork for me as well, making the process all the easier. Between rebates and tax incentives, I only ended up paying $9,000 out-of-pocket for a $24,000 system. I highly recommend HEsolar to anyone interested in going solar!

I was interested in solar power as the world goes more and more electronic, our consumption will only increase. HESolar was hands down the best in the greater Austin area for me. They were incredibly responsive, professional, patient, and experts in their field. Their passion for what they do carried over into their work and I felt incredibly comfortable the entire process. I have had my panels for over a year now and I'm very happy about the purchase, the value, and the ease of process.

We used HE Solar to install panels at our house. The experience was professional from the quote to installation and follow up afterwards. Eric is quick to respond to questions and provides friendly service! They were great!

I had wanted a solar system for my house for a long time. After replacing my roof, it was time. I worked with Eric and Derrick from HESOLAR to design the system for my needs. They reviewed my electric usage history, the layout of my roof (not a simple layout) and provided a system design that would meet me current and future energy needs. They handled everything, including the city permits and inspections, to the installation followup. Outstanding work. A year later, I had HESOLAR install a Tesla Powerwall 2, and integrate it with the solar system. Again, they handled everything. I couldn't be happier with my system. HESOLAR is the best.

Couldn't be happier with our PV installation from HE Solar. They did great work and the entire process was flawless! They handled permitting and Austin Energy rebate paperwork. When our HOA initially rejected our request, they provided all of the necessary documentation and calculations to ensure HOA approval. The installation looks great, with no unsightly silver metal conduit visible from the outside (unlike some of my neighbors' installations that have ugly conduit running across their roof and down their sidewalls. I was so happy with their work on the solar installation, that when it came time to install an electric vehicle charging station in my garage, they were the first company I called, and I was just as pleased with that work. They're a great, local company and I would definitely recommend them for any solar installation project!

HEsolar was recommended to me by a friend so I included them in the handful of companies that I researched. The Sales Director John was very patient and responsive with my barrage of questions. Two main reasons I ultimately chose HEsolar: 1. Their background as master electricians and knowing that the Hoffman family has been providing electrical services in the Central Texas area for over 35 years. That means if the the federal tax incentives for installing solar panels goes away and the installations of and demand for solar panel systems drops, Derrick and Eric will still be around, even if HEsolar isn't. 2. They use SunPower solar panels which is a more efficient panel. That means less panels on the roof which leaves more roof space for expansion in the future. I signed the sales bid in early January. HEsolar made it very easy and took care all of the paper work with Oncor, who delivers the electricity in my area. I just had to digitally sign the various pieces of paperwork as they became available. Installation started 5 weeks later and took two days. And then more waiting on Oncor. The panels were turned on 3.5 weeks later. YAY! The panels have been up and running for 2.5 years now. There was one small issue with a bad fuse within the first month that Derrick promptly responded to. I also had some monitoring issues in the first couple of months because of the distance of the SolarEdge gateway from the inverter. They really couldn't be any further apart. HEsolar installed a signal repeater and that completely resolved the issue. I've had no issues since then. In this modern day, I'm not a phone person and one of the things I really like about HEsolar is they are very responsive through email. I would have hard time doing business with someone who isn't. They always showed up on time and were very professional. I would absolutely recommend HEsolar to anyone wanting to install solar panels. After my panels were turned on in March 2016, I only paid the electric company $62 for the remaining 10 months of 2016. I ended 2017 with a credit and will likely end 2018 with a credit. It's definitely been worth it!

I picked HESOLAR from 5 companies and was very glad that I did. They installed a 10.5 kWh ground mounted system with superior results. Great company!

September, 2018 marks the 3-year anniversary for our 7.8kW SUNPOWER PV system that Eric, Derrick and crew installed on our barn roof in 2015. This system included (26) tilt-leg panels. Production to date exceeds 33 MWh. Our PEC monthly electricity bill continues to be 50% or more lower than the months preceding the install by HESolar. We are still very pleased with the equipment and the installation. As a retired electrician with 37 years of commercial experience and a critical eye, I continue to highly recommend this family owned, hands-on business. Professional, knowledgeable and skilled at their trade. These guys will do right by you as they did for us.

HE Solar installed a ground Mount 14.5kw Solar Panel System in October 2014. It consistes of 43 panels. The installation was flawless. I have only had to call them back one time when a cable connector came loose. They detected the fault and called me to set up a time to check it out. The system is working as promised and has been providing about 95-98% of my electrical needs during the past 4 years. I have kept accurate records to see how much I am saving. It has lived up to my expectations. It will still take 10+ years to recover the cost of the installation, but the monthly cash flow improvement has been much appreciated and is instant! Derrick has done a great job for us. I like working with a local company that is very responsive to any issues that arise.

I solicited several quotes for a system and HESolar offered the best equipment and the best system layout. HESolar put as many panels as possible in a place to collect as much sunlight rather than what was the easiest to install. This type of attention to detail from the start pays off in the long term. Work started on-time and the crew arrived right at 8am. The inverter and associated electrical panels were installed first with the racking and panels installed several days later. The delay was largely due to weather. The completed install is very tidy. They didn't leave any materials or trash behind. All the wiring is run through metal conduit the entire length with warning labels indicating the danger of the wiring within. The racking under the panels are barely visible and no wiring is visible. Overall, a clean, tidy install both inside and out.

I have known these Master Electricians (Eric and Derrick) from their early days earning college money working with their father's Hoffman Electric business. They sweated and froze through several years of hot/cold general electrical work in attics and crawl spaces all over central Texas. I suspect that their dad had them working in electrical during their summer vacations while still in high school. They had dreams of putting their college level education efforts into designing and installing solar systems. These twins look young however they both have a massive amount of experience and education behind them so when I found out that they were starting their own business under the HESolar name plate, I begged them to put their research to use by designing two virtually identical systems for my duplex which houses my home office on one side and residence on the other. After putting in a tremendous amount of research into various solar applications and equipment as well as answering what must have seemed like a million questions, HESolar came up with system Side B as 30, 255 watt polycrystalline panels for a total of 7,650 watts grid tied backed up by a battery bank and generator transfer for truly off grid systems. This system started production in August 2013 and has never had any problems and has always produced more electricity than consumed. Produced a total of 15.59 MWh. to date. 02-12-2015 Office system side A uses 26, 290 watt monocrystalline panels for a total of 7,540 watts grid tied backed up by another battery bank and generator transfer. The only equipment difference for these two systems was monocrystalline versus polycrystalline panel technology as I wanted to learn which was more productive. The monocrystalline out produces the polycrystalline by as much as 1,000 watts daily with slightly less ratings. This days daily production for side B is 35.9 KW and side A is 36.96 KW. These panels are on the same roof angle at the same azimuth. Side B is mounted at the top of the roof line and starts producing earlier than A which sets on the lower one half. This A system started production in October 2013 and since the office consumes more electricity than the residence, I currently do not have as much credit going forward each month and my largest electric bill was approx 15.00 dollars. Total production for this side is 13.69 MWh to date. With the current carry forward of credits and new Central Air units, I should never have an electric bill in the future. I am extremely happy with the systems. The systems run themselves and I have never had to call HESolar back for any service work or problems. I and they are able to monitor all aspects of my systems at any time from anywhere in the world via the internet. HESolar walked me through every phase including helping me find a great roofing company to install standing seam roofing Austin Energy approved insulation and weather proofing specialists as well as permits and inspections. Their crew was very professional, friendly, and timely. I have had numerous compliments about the appearance and quality of both systems. I whole heartedly recommend HESolar for any and all electrical work. No job is too large for these guys as they have a number of qualified master electricians they can draw from for the larger jobs. My reasoning for going solar was not so much for the green impact as the economical impact in my situation. At the decision point, I calculated that. I could save approx $3,600.00 in annual electrical payments by installing solar. At the then current interest rate 1% to be generous, I would need to have $360,000.00 in the bank at interest. If I earn $3,600.00 in interest payments to pay my electrical bills , I would have to send to the IRS $900.00 in additional taxes and still come up short at the end of the year. Now that I am not paying out the $3,600.00 in electrical payments, I do not have to pay taxes(as of yet) on money not spent. Please do not clue in the IRS on this benefit. I also could eliminate my UPS battery costs for my computer equipment and not be out of business due to rolling brown outs or power failures. My wife also had medical problems and I did not want her to suffer if power failures came along. As it stands right now, I have no idea when the power has blinked or failed. We just completed our system installation and could not be more pleased with the work done by HE Solar. They built the system just as they promised, plus they were great to work with. Communication with this group was outstanding! We were impressed with their knowledge of their product and their tenacity to get it all done and working properly. They completed the work in a timely manner, worked long and hard hours - sometimes in miserable weather- and always with professional courtesy and positive attitudes. We would highly recommend this company to anyone that is interested in having this type system designed and built.

Our PV system was installed in 2008. In 2014 one of the two Fronius inverters failed. The original installer was no longer supporting their work. I called Hesolar and they were prompt in coming to the house, trouble shoot the problem and arrange with the manufacturer to ship a replacement part. As soon as it was received, Hesolar installed the new card and we were back in operation. There was no charge assessed since the work was covered by Fronius' 10-year warranty including Hesolar's labor. In January 2015 the second Fronius inverter failed and the same scenario as last year was repeated. Here again Hesolar was very prompt and professional with their services. I will recommend Hesolar to anyone needing work performed on their PV system.
