Ray is a excellent engineer and a great communicator. He and his team engineered and installed the perfect amount of solar panels for my needs. After running the system for a few months he then sized and installed 3 powerwalls, setup all the software and gateways right down to the details on the app on my phone. Here is my story. I spent over a year researching solar companies and products. I am a retired Army pilot so I am very no nonsense and direct. I tried to learn as much as possible about the products so I could ask the right questions. It was difficult because it is like learning another language. I learned enough to make me dangerous. I could ask most of the right questions and I felt very few companies could answer them all (mainly because I was speaking to salesmen). Out of 7 different companies in my area only 1 stood out and answered all my questions plus some I didn't know. Florida Solar One (Ray Johnson) was professional and thorough. At times he would speak way beyond my knowledge base but was able to break it down to layman's terms when needed. He was a direct and no nonsense kind of guy. When it was time to start the project his team was on time, very respectful, and dealt with the county permitting department with speed and accuracy like no other company in the Keys. I have neighbors who started their solar projects before me and are still waiting on county inspections. My project products were- Mission Solar Panels, Enphase IQ7a micro inverters, Tesla power walls. All rated for Hurricane area. From start to finish for my project was 2-3 months- 1 month permit approval, 1 week install, 1.5 months for county and electric company inspections. 100% recommend Florida Solar One- Knowledge, Professional, Price, and able to work with county inspectors to get things accomplished in a timely manner.

Ray and his Florida Solar One team did a fantastic job of designing and installing a 27 panel solar system with two Tesla Powerwalls on our Big Pine Key home. Ray is incredibly knowledgable and experienced. By looking at our A/C system and the rest of the house he could quickly determine what we were going to need. Gave a great quote and really stuck to the budget, even as solar panel prices went up. The work was done quickly. His team did the installation without us being there, and they left the place in fantastic shape. They took great care in where to place the equipment and how to wire it. Highly recommend Ray and the team, especially if you are going to get batteries.

Go ahead and get a quote from other solar companies....But don't hire anybody but Ray Johnson and his crew! Not only are they the most Knowledgable, Professional, and Meticulous contractors in the Keys but he continues to follow up and ensure my system remains at peak operating performance. Ray, very patiently, explained any and all questions I had as a novice in solar energy production. Ray and his team installed 41 solar panels and 3 Tesla Powerwalls on our house in Old Town Key West dealing with all the permit requirements including the Historic Architectural Review Commission. I could not have asked for a smoother project, and recommend Florida Solar One very highly!

We talked with a number of solar installers and decided to use Ray Johnson and his team because they were so thorough and helpful in the discussions leading up to hiring them. Everybody else gave us their standard sales pitch. Florida Solar One did an excellent job period. They were far less in cost than any of their competitors and the work was first rate. They installed my panels, inverters, and other misc solar components without issue. The system has been working perfectly for about 3 months now and is basically zero maintenance. We purchased a vacation home in the Lower Keys. Florida Solar One was my first call for large projects we wanted to do. Ray is incredibly knowledgeable about every aspect of solar, from how it works all the way down to which type of fastener to use for my type of roof. My goal was to completely eliminate my electric bill and although I have not had it on her for a full billing cycle, I’m producing well in excess of what I need. In addition to the solar they also installed two Tesla Chargers and when Keys Energy came out to hook their meter up, even they were excited to see those, as they want to understand the impact electric vehicles will have on their loads. Apparently we were the first residential Tesla Chargers that they knew of. Overall, highly recommend FS1. And a big thanks to Jose for all of his hard work in making this happen.

When searching for the right company to design the Photovoltaic system in my new home, I came across Florida Solar One. What caught my eye was they had education classes for installers on how to design and implement the right system. I contacted them and was pleasantly surprised how knowledgable and technical they were. Being an engineer myself, we were able to speak the same language. They also understood that technology was constantly changing and that new products pop up all the time. They spent the time to evaluate the products they use along with the ones I suggested to determine if it was the best fit for my solution. They did not try to shove any cookie cutter solution down my throat like most others I spoke to. Once the home was ready to be connected to the power company (FPL), they walked me through all the paperwork and got me approved to produce power very quickly. Now I have one of the nicest installations in the neighborhood, and I can power my entire 4600 sqft home along with my electric vehicles. This is the only company I would recommend for solar in Southern Florida , since they really know what they are doing! I would encourage homeowners in other parts of the country to hire them as well, since it is a long term investment and you don’t want Holmes to have to “Make it Right” a short time later.

When I moved to Florida and bought my house I decided that I was going to install solar panels for electric generation. Moving from Maine it seemed like a no-brainer. That experience cemented my decision to choose FS1 for my installation. I am very happy with the installation done by FS1. They were some of the most professional people I have worked with. The timeline of the installation was exactly as Ray had laid out to me. They were prompt and thorough, and Ray took time out to explain what was being done as the work progressed. I am extremely happy with the results, and the system is overproducing and exceeding my expectations.

I did my research before deciding to go with Florida Solar One for my Solar project with Battery back-up. Ray is very knowledgeable and was hands on during the whole installation. His crew of Cyle, Dave and Jose were just fantastic in all respects. We went with 30 Sun Power 320W Panels, Pika PV Links, Pika Harbor Plus Battery and Pika Island Inverter. I am very pleased with the outcome. Prior to FPL installing the Net Meter I ran all of my critical loads with just the Solar Panels and Battery for 3 days as a test. Battery level never dropped below 30% before the solar output topped it off quickly the next morning. The average daily production over the past ten days has exceeded our consumption even with the charging of two Electric Vehicles. The best day so far provided over 55 kWh with the average of about 47 kWh. Great System and Great Installer. I would highly recommend Ray Johnson and his crew for your Solar Installation.

Having made the decision to install solar on our new home in Fort Lauderdale, we went through an extensive due diligence process to determine what contractor to use for our project. We decided to go with Florida Solar One due to the companies' excellent credentials (fully certified engineers) and the full involvement of it's owner, Ray Johnson. We were not to be disappointed. After a thorough analysis (even involving drones) and feasibility study, Ray presented to us a step-by-step project plan with all detailed component specifications and pricing terms. The project was subsequently executed while we were on an extensive overseas trip. During the period, Ray kept us informed step by step via email about the progress of our project (permit, panel delivery and installation). He even sent us pictures of the installed panels. The project was executed exactly on the timeline as outlined and the project costs were exactly as budgeted. Moreover, Ray was involved from the beginning to the end and made sure that the work was performed to the highest standards (all panels lined up perfectly, even new cables running alongside the house have been nicely hidden). The system is working perfectly. We would highly recommend Ray for any new solar installation. He has outstanding credentials and takes extreme pride in his work.

Our home was damaged by Hurricane Irma and when we put it all back together we wanted solar with battery storage so we would never be without power again. Our first call was to a company the company here in Marathon but, their customer service people proved hard to speak with and prices were out of our reach. My experience with Solar One and Ray Johnson was one of the most professional experiences i have ever had. Not only was it done on on time within budget but i am yet to find a local installer to find a flaw in my system. Our company purchased a commercial property in Miami for our global headquarters that had a brand new TPO roof installed the year before. We wanted to put solar to keep our fixed operational costs low, predictable and enjoy tax credits. We received a rebate from the local utility but, internal delays from our growing company and choosing a solar contractor left us with only one short month to build the system else lose the rebate funds. It seemed mission impossible and we still had not hired a contractor. We accepted quotes and interviewed several companies but, Florida Solar One, clearly stood above the rest. The price was good and their commercial experience obvious but what impressed the most was their guarantee to navigate the Miami Dade Building Department, maintain our 25 year warrantee (on our brand new roof) and if they missed the mark would deduct the rebate from the cost of the project. With no risk we signed a contract and gave them full access. I am pleased to share the project was flawless. We received our final inspection with a week to spare. Florida Solar One even agreed to wait until FPL paid us before we paid them. The system has been operating for 8 months and it has outperformed all expectations. We expanded our operations and overall air conditioned space by over 30% and yet the cost of electricity is over $500/month lower than it was pre-construction. Going solar was a good, our savings has been great but, choosing Florida Solar One was the best decision we made. Go Solar with Florida Solar One and you will be glad you did!

I had my solar system installed by Florida Solar One last year and I have absolutely nothing bad about the company or installation job. The installation was done professionally and the system has been delivering as promised. The staff was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable through the entire process. I shopped around with other companies, but I chose Florida Solar One based on their level of experience and knowledge. Due to the high level of technical work and investment, I did NOT want to chance this installation with any amateur solar contractors looking to build their experience at my expense. Everyone was incredibly knowledgeable and knew exactly what I wanted, what was best for me, and when I wanted it. Ray sure his stuff and my system has been working flawlessly since he installed it. It was cheaper than the competition, he sounded like he knew what he was doing, and my system was finished before I even noticed. They worked quickly, quietly, and were extremely polite.
