The value of the battery does not justify the price!

Our experience with ES Solar has been mixed, and unfortunately the negatives outweigh the positives. The salesman misrepresented the actual cost we would owe after rebates. He quoted us an interest‑only payment and made it sound like our final cost would be far lower than it truly was. Once everything was finalized, we learned the real numbers — and they were nowhere near what we were told. The battery system we purchased has not been worth the money. Based on the actual performance and the true cost, it will take far longer than its guaranteed lifespan to break even. Had we been given accurate information upfront, we would not have moved forward with this part of the system. To be fair, the installation team was excellent. They were on time, professional, and completed the work quickly. The workmanship was solid, and they did everything they said they would. But overall, the cost simply isn’t worth the squeeze. The sales tactics were misleading, and the value of the battery does not justify the price. I wish the installation team’s quality matched the honesty of the sales process.

Buyer beware

What I was sold and told during my sales presentation is not even close to what i got. I was told for the same price as im paying for electrical services I can get solar panels. Not true. I was told no more electric bills and in some case that I would get money back from the power company, also not true. I was told the system is hassle free if there are any problems they have a team that will take care of it, again not true. My expenses so far is my solar panels cost 150.00 more a month than originally presented, my electric bill is still between 60-100 a month and my inverter has failed twice, my battery system has failed and been replaced and it’s next to impossible to get someone out and take care of it. I have sent several emails attempting to resolve issues and nothing has changed. So if you want to double your electrical cost for a system that consistently breaks and shuts down….then this is the company for you. (Sarcasm)

Poor customer service and lies

Would give this company a zero star rating if it would allow it. Everything at first was great until things that were promised to you in the sale and paperwork. Was told my payment wouldn’t be for six months when actually was only 90 days which made my payment double what was disclosed to me. I wasn’t supposed to have a payment tell after my tax rebate and all other rebates that were promised. All was told I would receive 500$ from the salesperson to help if I had to make one payment before the six months and also a 500$ welcome gift. I have tried contacting this business multiple times with no success no call backs no emails back. Poor customer service seams to be there place in this business. I feel like I was scammed big time by this company just so they could get there sale and dip out with my money.

My electrical bill is higher now

We went over by last years electric bill and we already had 21 panels on the house. we paid around $100-$150 a month. ES Solar salesman and engineer looked over everything as said we should add 8 more panels and a battery to get us down to just the grid fee. We decided to go with the plan and now we 29 panels and a battery, we only charge our cars during the time our panels are getting solar, we removed a garage fridge and stopped running dishwasher, and laundry when the panels get a charge. now are electric bill is higher than it was prior to making those changes. we pay over $200 a month, the solar edge app shows we are also giving power back to the grid after our battery is fully charged. we have called ES Solar so many times and nobody gets back to us but they say they are looking into it. I had to ensure the solar and the battery were installed based on the timeline they provided us and I had to call over ten times for the rebate check from ES Solar and for them to provide the power company the documents for that rebate check as well. poor company, all they want is to make a sale. The installers were great and polite.

NO BUSINESS FROM ME!

I had an appointment with ES Solar at 10:am on 6/18/25 and this company was a no show, no call, nothing! This is not the kind of company I want to do business with. Hope no one else has this kind of service. To have an appointment and have a no show for a consultation is not the way to start a business deal. If I did this to my customers, I would not have a business. If I could put negative stars I would.

ES Solar doesn't care

Installed in November, and they still have not fixed the issue they created with our security cameras. Their solution, they told us to hire someone to fix it and if they say it's their fault, they will reimburse us. Poor practice, very sad.

Not good!

Crappy Customer service! They make promises they will not keep. Not very easy to get a hold of if you need to talk with them. If you call all you get is a machine to leave a message and hope they call you back. When you do get a hold of them they do not help in any way. Find someone else do not us them.

Do NOT buy from ES Solar!

We own our own business with several sensitive machines (lasers, 3d printers, CNC, computers, etc.) that work from our home. The area we moved to had a tendency to have hiccups on the grid that would ruin a lot of the items we were working on with those machines. We decided to get Solar with a battery so we wouldn’t have any more ruined products from our machines stopping because of grid hiccups. (We also just like the idea of being super prepared) We moved into a new neighborhood and ES Solar was going around to each house about every other month seeing if people wanted to sign up for it. The first red flag: when they come to your house they claim to be with Rocky Mountain Power asking if things are working well. While ES Solar may work alongside Rocky Mountain Power, telling their sales reps to go to each house and say that is very misleading. But I wanted solar anyway so I decided to overlook that. We signed up around October 2022. Our installation was supposed to happen in January 2023, which we were okay with waiting. Things kept getting delayed. 2nd red flag: I kept getting texts about how our permit with the county was taking longer than usual. I got this text several times until our Solar was finally installed April 28 (4 months late!). After it was installed I kept getting texts about our permits with the county, so I know that’s just a lie and an excuse for being late instead of just saying, “Hey, sorry but we’re running behind schedule” they blame it on the county permits. I had to call a couple times to get them to turn that auto text off for me. I would be much happier with the truth of running behind schedule than lying and blaming it on the county. 3rd red flag: After it was installed, we couldn’t actually use it for 1.5 weeks because the inspector had to come 3 times because the installers kept messing it up! This took place over a few months and after ES Solar finally installed it correctly, it worked great for 2 weeks in July. 4th red flag: Then it didn’t work for the next 3 months as our battery kept not connecting, other power problems, and being constantly shuffled to the next person in ES Solar to fix our problem. After each time someone came to our house, we were told “It should work fine after this!” We would lose power a couple times a day. Our microwave power stopped working, tightened screws 7-10 times, neutral wire problems 3-4 times, and even changed out our battery and the head unit completely 2 times. We had people especially flown in from SLC and California to come look at the problem, but it still wasn’t fixed. As for our small business, we had to just take a lot of losses with all the power problems messing up our machines. Needless to say, I was extremely frustrated. Two of the workers (at different times) that had been with us most of the time said we should request some compensation for all the problems we had. 5th red flag: After talking a lot to the workers who kept coming out to fix (almost daily at this point), we discovered that we were promised a lot of things from our sales rep that would not happen. I specifically told our sales rep that I needed something that would keep our machines going if there was a grid hiccup. He said we would never have a hiccup again (pure lie). In fact, if the power did go out we would have a few second delay while our battery kicked in. That was the worst lie among the others our sales rep told us. 6th red flag: We thought we were good after some “software updates” fixed the latest problem and most of November we were perfect (should never have thought that). Now we’re back to having problems again, but this time no one is getting back to us. I’ve contacted Customer Support in Layton, UT and they set up a request for us for someone in ID to get back to us and fix the problem again. Haven’t heard anything for a month even though they said they would call me back in a few days. I called them again, this time requesting some compensation for all the problems, but they said no because it’s under warranty. I just want all the solar panels and the battery gone and off my property at this point. I want nothing to do with ES Solar. I don’t want it fixed anymore, I WANT IT GONE. ES Solar is absolutely not worth this long drawn out process, the $47,000 price tag, and constant problems with my at-home business. I don't know if I can sue them successfully, but I am looking into it.

Worst Company!

Well, I’m very disappointed to have to change my review. I originally gave ES Solar a 5 star review. That was the day they sold me the product and ask for reviews while they are sitting in my living room. That was before the system was installed and before the gigantic headaches began. I have never given a bad review in my life, but I feel I have no further recourse as I am not being taken care of as a customer and want to forewarn anyone else from going through the disaster that this has been with ES Solar. Once they installed the system, I have had horrible service. I have called countless times and talked to many people about my issues. None of which have been resolved. I paid $50,000 for the panels and the somnem battery. The circuits that the battery is supposed to supply power to when the power is out, do not have power when the power goes out. They did an audit after I had the panels for a year and found that I needed over 3,000 more watts than they had originally planned for. I still have not heard anything from them about when they may install more panels. My power bill was $60 a month before I got Solar through ES Solar. My power bill is now $70 a month. Plus I am paying $200 a month for the panels and battery for the next 15 years. This has been a complete waste of $50,000. I wish I had never chosen ES Solar. They are more than happy to make empty promises and take my money, and never actually fix what’s not working with my battery and I have seen zero benefit from having these solar panels. Be warned, DO NOT use ES Solar!! Save yourself the money and the headache! 1

Lies and dangerous

Warnings -Not worth it. Monthly payment for loan is way more than what we were paying to Rocky Mt, and we are still paying $35 to Rocky Mt. -Full tax credit is not received the first year after install. They mislead you thinking you’ll get that 25-30% back the first time you file taxes. This is a lie. Your loan will be re-amortized and payment will increase. Don’t believe the salesman. -They also told us they would take out bushes and trim a tree that blocks some of the panels. Never happened. -Install was done terribly. They don’t tell you where they are running it. Install day was a nightmare. On top of that they ran the wires through the basement on the outside of the walls. -When it came time to finish the basement we called them and it took a week to get someone out here to re-run the wires (which they don’t even have record of). Ever since then, we have had all of the electricity that is backed up to the new solar breaker going out. The plugs for the fridge go in and out, which are separate from other plugs in the kitchen that go out. The bathroom light and fan get brighter and dimmer, like they are going out. -When the kitchen plugs do work, they are producing over 130 volts, which is way too high. -If we wiggle the breaker, we can get the plugs to work sometimes. Super sketchy having loose wiring like that. We’ve called ES Solar letting them know about these issues and hazards. We have yet to see an electrician out to fix the issues. They have an A rating because they respond to all of their complaints on here. That doesn’t mean they deserve the A. Word of advice, don’t do it.

A Horror Story

Imagine you pay $122K to purchase a trip on ES Solar Airlines, which you thought to be the best airline in the world. You eagerly await the day of your trip. You board the plane. So far everything is great. Once the plane takes off, they ask you for your final payment. You transfer the money and sit back and start to relax. This trip is going to be amazing you think. You get a text message stating that the $122K has been transferred. Then the airbags fall from the ceiling of the plane. You look at your wife, and suddenly you feel a sense of terror. This is not looking good. You then see the pilots of the plane running out and jumping out of the plane. Problem is they are the only ones with parachutes. The plane isn't able to stay in the air, because the power in the plane keeps going off every day for weeks upon weeks. You frantically make a call to the airline, asking for help. But they don't respond. Sorry we are short staffed. We are not sure what is going on. And yet each time the power goes off, there is no sense of urgency. The airline doesn't care because they have their money. And yet, the plane begins to lose altitude, day after day, after day. Still no help from the airline. You know where this is heading. Finally, what you have been told is the best pilot the airline has, (note: the guy that should have certified that the plane could fly in the first place), magically shows up. He says, no worries. I am here to get the plane to stop losing power, and that battery that never worked, I can get that fixed too. But then he also jumps out of the plane, and eventually the plane plummets from the sky and crashes into a ball of flames. Nobody ever showed up to help save the plane and the passengers on it. I share this with you because I don't want anybody to take the same trip we have been on. This has been our experience with ES Solar. We now have a system that has been disconnected, and I sit here wondering if the airline (i.e. ES Solar in this story) frankly gives a **** about ever getting it fixed. This just might be the largest financial mistake I have ever made. Next time you are thinking about taking a trip, perhaps drive, but whatever you do don't book your flight with ES Solar.

Do not walk run away from ES Solar

I had my solar installed in October 2022. From day 1 my battery never worked it wasnt charging or communicating. The installers left knowing this and said someone would be by in a few days to look at it. One of the installers came back a few days later and couldnt figure it out and left without saying anything to me. I called the office and they said when my system gets commisioned they should be able to get it working. Came out and he couldnt get the battery to work either. He said he would be back in a few days to try something that he thought would work. Few days later he came back and basically hard wired my battery to the inverter to fix it. Got it to kinda work but not really. He got a hold of the battery manufacture and they wanted one of the wires changed out to see if that would fix it. So he left and said he would submit a ticket to have the installers come out and replace said wire. A few weeks go by and I text the engineer AKA the commisioner guy and he said he submitted the ticket and thought they already came out to replace it which I then informed him that was not the case. He said he would submit it again. Another 3-4 weeks go buy and nothing but crickets. I called ES Solar and they said they thought it was fixed and I clued them in that it wasnt. Over the course of a few months someone would come by and tinker with the battery with know fix in site. And each time I would have to call them to get someone out to look at it. Finally an electrician came out and said that he thought I needed a new battery but had to call the manufacture to get it approved. So the manufacture of the battery sent a tech out finally and approved the replacement. 2 weeks go by and ive heard nothing. Had to call ES Solar again to find out a status. They tell me oh ya we can schedule that to get it replaced. Scheduled it for like a week after and in the mean time ES Solar calls me and tells me they noticed my Battery wasnt working and said they would sent a tech out to look at it. Im like HuH, no doi it aint working and ive got a replacement scheduled. She was like okay ill make a note of that. To summarize the left hand dont know what the right hand is doing when it comes to ES Solar. They do not communicate anything within the company as far as where they are at on repairs. Finally last month FEB 2023 they got the new battery in and it works great. 4 months to get this problem fixed when it should have taken no more than 1. They get the install done and get that fat check then they are done with you it seems like. Im sure if you dont have any problems with your equipment or install your experience might be different. Once you have a problem though good luck on getting help because they are not good at customer service after install. They were great up until after install and they got paid.

ES Solar-- good looking equipment, good luck getting support

Explanation of ratings: Sales Process: 5/5 (no problems) Price charged: 5/5 (exactly as quoted) On Schedule: 5/5 (on-time for scheduled interactions, once you finally get them to come out) Installation Quality: 2.5/5 (Panels work, 5/5 there, battery backup does not, so 0/5 there) After sales support: 0/5, read review below (3+ month update) Batteries still don't function. I am now seeking to return the batteries as there is no reason why this has gone on so long. ES Solar blames it on an employee who quit months ago. Don't trust this company to support you once the installation is finished if/when there are issues. (2+ month update) tl;dr: Good looking panels, garbage customer support and batteries. Look around to see if there's another solar company with batteries. To start with the good-- panels look great, installation was smooth, app seems to function, interest (at the time) is great. The battery system has not worked since installation. I've heard two explanations-- one that the ES Solar techs didn't know how to install the batteries correctly and the other was that the hardware itself was problematic. Despite being told date ranges ("...this should take a week...") ES Solar never seems to follow up. I'm now starting to pay for a system which doesn't fully function, according to the installation contract. This is the second installation of which I know that has this same issue (with more or less the same response from ES Solar). If this was a transport issue, such as batteries not currently available, I could understand the slowness. As it stands, it seems as though their customer support is also stuck in shipping as it's anyone's guess as to when they'll get around to letting me know their status. For anyone looking to buy solar panels, the ones ES Solar provide look great and installation was slick. For anyone looking for solar + battery, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

ES Solar is HORRIBLE!!

It has been over a full YEAR since signing a contract with ES Solar and we are STILL not able to use our solar panels. We tried to cancel our contract multiple times before install and they wouldn't let us out without paying the over $10,000 for the mistake of signing on the dotted line. Once they have your money, you will always be put off. Not return your phone calls, put you weeks and weeks out before making repair, etc. No one that has the authority will talk to you. Even if you go to the business, they will hide in their offices and make the poor people at the front desk try and help you. Don't throw away $55,000 like I did! Choose ANYONE other than ES Solar!

Incompetant, dismissive, and dishonest.

ES Solar has been horrible to work with. I am on week 4 of my 1 day install, they have sent crews out 4 times, failed their inspections, and strung me along. First the trenching crew never came, so they couldn't do the install, so the electricians did what they could, and said the trenchers would be there right away, and it would be installed "this pay period" so within a week or so. The trencher came out, and it was a hungover Hispanic guy and his wife (who napped in the car all morning) who didn't speak English. I came out to find him burying the electrical conduit about 6 inches deep, it's supposed to be 18 inches to the top of the conduit, I pointed it out to him, he ignored me and kept burying it. I called his supervisor, who came right out and "took care of it". The next day I find the conduit is five feet short of the electrical box, and when I call the supervisor, he tells me he'll "look into if he should fix it". I'm now suspicious, so I dig up the conduit he reburied, and now it is about 8" deep, keep in mind this is high voltage electrical wiring that's going to be installed in this conduit. I call and complain and am told that this is a problem, and it was a subcontractor of the contractor, but they'll get the real crew out right away. They send the same supervisor out a week later, and he says that most of the line is buried deep, just the two spots I dug up were shallow. Really? it's shallow 1/3 of the way and 2/3 of the way, but everywhere else is fine? SO I now spend the next four hours babysitting this crew, and make them dig up the whole line and prove to me that it is indeed deep enough, news flash, it wasn't. I call again, and am ignored by the installer they put on my case, I leave messages and send emails and am ignored. The most I've gotten is that "this almost never happens" and "we are so sorry this has happened" and "we'll fix this right away". Platitudes and lies. I have had my garage torn up for 4 weeks, I've had crews out 4 times, and I've failed city inspections with this company, I would never work with them again. Stay far away from them.
