They came and installed everything and did great untill it came to finishing the job. They installed the system at the end of Aug, this is November and the system monitoring thru the app is still not working properly. I spent 4 days on phone with enphase and was told the installer needs to come check the system to insurethe system is correct and the CT's were installed correctly. Emerald said they would come check it but no show, after 2 days and several call i finally get a call to address the issue. I was told it would be 2 weeks at the soonest they could come and fix it. They said they were too busy installing new systems!!! They did not complete mine to my satisification but said it was producing as it should. The point is i can not monitor my system accuraty. I was told the CT's were probably bad. I suspect 1 or more installed incorrectly. I have to wait untill the get here in 2+ weeks at best. Never again with this company or with Solar Gladiator company.

Recently my husband and I became aware our inverter for our Solar Panels needed replaced. Much to my surprise our original installer was no longer in business. Thank you Emerald Energy. I chose this company by the reviews and wanted to be sure to write a review to assist others when looking for a Renewable Energy Specialist Company in NC. The company that installed my solar panels back in 2018 went bankrupt . Emerald Energy made it through the pandemic which says a lot. I needed a new company to monitor the panels - then I lost connectivity to Solar Edge monitoring platform. John Leonard diagnosed hardware failure with the inverter. New one is installed and household is back in business. Very easy to communicate with Mr Leonard. No drama (unike the last company). Straight forward dealings. So easy to work with. Thank you! I recommend this company to any one.

We interviewed and received proposals from four different local solar companies. All of them were professional, knowledgeable and around our budget. We selected Emerald Energy for several reasons. 1. The rep (who is also one of the owners) was extremely knowledgeable and really helped us understand solar from the panels to the inverters to the batteries before we contracted with them. 2. Emerald had options. None of the other companies had the options. To meet our goals, it made more sense to get a Fortress battery and a Sol-Ark inverter. This would give us the flexibility and control we needed compared to other batteries and inverters. 3. Emerald could get to work right away. Some of the other companies had several months of backlogs. 4. They would use in-house personnel for all the critical work. After we signed the contract, Emerald handled everything. 1. They walked the plans through the local city approvals. 2. They started work as soon as the plans were approved. 3. All aspects of installation were meticulous. The electrical work and installation of the inverter and battery in particular was better than any work we have every had done in our home. They cleaned up the worksite every day and left it immaculate when they were done. All the onsite personnel stopped to answer any questions we had, whenever we had them. 4. The Emerald Rep walked the city inspector through the inspection, and then walked the electric company inspector through the installation and approval. 5. After commissioning the equipment, they gave us a great explanation of the system and answered questions after commissioning via email. It was a real pleasure to work with this company and everyone from the company who came out to help with the install and commissioning. We would recommend them to anyone in the Raleigh/Triangle area who is interested in solar.

My first contact with Emerald Energy was all l needed to know this was the company with whom I wanted to work. I am grateful to my HOA Sustainability Company for finding this fine enterprise for me! Everything about this process of making my house and car fly on sunshine has been wonderful. To begin, company president John Leonard was responsive, thoughtful, courteous, and ready to answer any question. When the project began, project manager Chris Belin was as kind and efficient as he possibly could be. Every single member of the crew was terrific, and I particularly appreciate the small but important fact that the crews, as they came and went in the house, were very careful not to let my indoor-only cat scoot out the door. My house now has the tiny footprint I have long wanted to create. Emerald Energy was honest, professional, thorough, and just splendid as my partners in this solar energy journey. It’s been 3 months since our solar system was installed by John and his team, no complaints so far and I’m happy with their service.

Had the system installed fall of 2021. Emerald energy was great to work with. The process was seamless.

Thomas, John and their entire installation team are superstars. After a several quotes from multiple venders we chose Emerald Energy. The entire process to painless and was done in a totally professional manner. Thomas gave me a quote based on our electric bill but after discussion of how we use power he reduced the number of panels needed. According to our local power company that never happens. After the quote and site walk around, they took care of everything with the county, permits and the power company. Installation was flawless and clean. Not one piece of trash was found after they left. Post installation inspections went off without a hitch. If you are serious about solar energy than Emerald Energy is the company, you must use.

After having 2 other big name companies come out and discuss various solar panel system options, I called upon my local neighbors to help me out. You see, I couldn't get some straight answers about the cost of financing the system versus not financing it, as well as some of the other 'costs' they were showing. It was a high pressure scenario and I will not be pressured. After hearing back from a neighbor, they suggested Emerald Energy, so I gave them a call and they quickly came out and we discussed the other systems that I had been quoted. Emerald Energy's estimate of savings was the least aggressive and I appreciated that because it fell more in line with what I was expecting from my own research. Being an engineer myself, I tried not to be bothersome with too many questions, but the team at Emerald was always very happy to answer any question I had, regardless of how many I asked. :). On the technical and pricing side, they quoted a great looking all black panel with black borders to make my HOA happy. I got the plans Emerald provided approved quite quickly (at least by my own standards when dealing with an HOA). Emerald had the most competitive price to go along with what I thought was a superior, more realistic system than the others. Even after the install was done, I still had a few more questions regarding the Duke Energy rebate and energy monitoring and they were always quick to respond and very helpful. Emerald Energy was very easy to work with; Justin and John were both knowledgeable and cooperative. The project changed from a single Sol-Ark 12K to a pair of them. This with 28 REC Alpha panels and 4 Fortress e-Flex 5.4kWh batteries was the final project. John worked through supply chain problems to procure all needed parts, even scouring just about all sources to obtain battery lugs. Brandon and Dave wired the system with attention to detail. I am very pleased with how the project turned out.

My residence is 2 plus hours from their office. The entire process was excellent with them from sales all the way through installation. Courteous, professional, knowledgeable, clean, timely, and communicative. We had to change plans a number of times through the process and they were always happy to help. Additionally we have had our system installed for 6 months now and had to file a warranty claim 1 time. They were quick to fix the issue and no issues at all. Would recommend to anyone.

I’ve got nothing but good things to say about Emerald Energy. John was easy to get in touch with, fast to respond and kept me in the loop about a replacement part on order. While some companies need to be called multiple times to follow up on an order or job, Emerald Energy was proactive and handled the job quickly. The best home investment we ever made. I just viewed our June electric bill. We actually sent more power to the electric grid than we used thanks to our Emerald Energy net metering solar system. Our bill was zero for electricity, however, $11.25 for taxes and fees, some things you just can't escape. John's crew traveled over 300 miles round-trip and installed the 36-panel system all in one day. Who does that! What a company! The guys worked like a well-oiled freight train. I was highly impressed by their demeanor, they never swore and always thanked each other upon receiving help or asking for materials sent up on the roof. A Top-notch professional, installation crew. I was concerned about possible hurricane winds, living near the OBX during the rail installation, Omar said, no problem he added an extra cross rail on the corner end at no additional charge. I researched solar products and companies for months before requesting 3 quotes. Emerald Energy was by far the best Price, selection of Products, and Reputation, hands down. If I text John or Thomas with a question about the Solar Edge dashboard (3rd party monitoring App) they always answer the same day. I believe in supporting a small business company that believes in integrity and customer service. They fit that bill hands down. I suggest you buy the best panels available and plan your system needs with Thomas and discuss future home upgrades you may have in mind i.e. power for an additional sunroom or that future EV charging station. If you ever sell, future home buyers will be paying top dollar for little or no electric bills.

I'm extremely pleased that I picked Emerald Energy for our solar panel installation. They were responsive, completed the job as fast as the process would allow, and did it all without any drama. We are very happy with the end result. We decided to pull the trigger on going solar back in early March and by the middle of May we were up and running. I requested proposals via EnergySage and also contacted a few companies directly. When it was all said and done, I had collected proposals from 9 companies—mostly the usual suspects of NC installers but also a couple of national installers. After narrowing the field down to 3 NC installers, I formulated a list of system specs including a desire to have a system capable of producing 13,000 kWh per year 5 years after installation. All three companies did a great job of updating their proposals to meet my requirements, but Emerald Energy really did the best job of understanding my desires and putting together a great proposal. The team’s young guy, Thomas C, impressed me by figuring out that he could meet my request without even using the roof over the garage of our house. We ended up with a very tidy layout of panels filling up the main portion of our roof and keeping the street view of our house very attractive. When I told them that I thought orienting all the panels vertically would produce the best looking results, they took it to heart and I never had to remind them of that request again. In order to ensure the future production goal, they gave me a great price on today's best panel, REC Alpha Black. Not only did that allow for fewer panels, but that panel has a great specification for its yearly degradation. In other words, they met all my requests and did it for a really good price. The company president, John L, was involved in the whole process and I was especially happy that he visited my house in person. That really put Emerald in the best position to design the best system for our situation. John knocked out the city planning approval and HOA approval with ease. Having John involved so much in the process gave me confidence that everything was going to go smoothly. Our 2-day installation went smoothly thanks to Osmar and Jordan. I asked them to see if they could fit any more panels up their once they got up on my roof with tape measures, and I was glad when they found a spot for a 28th panel. Justin D got me though the inspection process and finalized with Duke Energy very quickly. When I expressed concern about a caulking gap, Justin climbed through the inner recesses of our attic and got made it right. I appreciate the time that Justin took to teach me about the system and describe the future upgrade options if we go for battery backup in the future. Emerald Energy did a great job installing our solar system and definitely earned our trust in each stage of the process.

When we started considering rooftop PV solar, we got quotes from about 8-10 different providers in the area. Some tried to sell us on fairly useless add-ons (like a smart thermostat to replace our existing programmable thermostat that would have turned our 5-stage AC into a 2-stage AC). Others were more than twice Emerald's price for similar output. Emerald Energy provided a very competitive price and one of the best warranties (underwritten by Certainteed, which has been around for over a century). They offered a choice in panels, and we're so far very pleased with the LG panels we selected. The service was excellent as well: they listened to our needs and suggestions, upsized our inverter, and honored a lower price when a human error in a quote priced the wrong panels. The installation was smooth and they provided guidance for the Duke Energy rebate program that helped us secure a rebate. Overall we've been very pleased with the value.

Justin was extremely easy to work with. He was very knowledgeable about the product and always available for questions. John gave me all of the information necessary, plus tips, to be approved for Duke Energy's Solar Rebate program. Both were there for me when i needed troubleshooting with Duke Energy! Emerald Energy folks are truly fantastic when it comes to your solar panel installation. They are reliable, very responsive and the price range is also very competitive. We have got 18 panel system. I worked with John and right from day one he answered all my queries. He was quite honest and provide all the details to the best of his knowledge. The quality of the installation was great. John continued providing support even after the installation to get Duke change the meter, and start the production. For us it took little over 3 weeks to get the system start exporting over the Duke's grid. But I don't think John and his team had any control over that since it was purely in Duke's domain. After I decided to go with Solar, I talked to a number of different companies. Upon the recommendation of a neighbor, I contacted Emerald Energy. John Leonard came to talk with me about my wants and needs as far as the type, size, looks of a Solar System. I appreciated that he wore a face mask while in my home. John explained everything, and worked with me to create a design that would meet the POA regulations. We negotiated what I felt was a very good price for the system. John worked with Brunswick County for the permitting and Brunswick Electric for approving my request for Solar and then the installation of a new meter to use the Solar. The crew came on time for when they said they'd be here - I always appreciate that. They took not quite 2 days to complete the installation. John went over the system, showed me what I needed to know, and then had me download an app on my iPad so I could monitor the system. The app will tell me how much electricity the panels are generating on any given day. There's also a place on the app which will tell me: "Saved 1 Tree" today. That makes me feel good. I highly recommend John Leornard and Emerald Energy.

John Leonard answered all of my questions about the process, provided a thorough explanation of how solar power works, promptly responded to my text messages and e-mails, and the 2 day installation process was seamless. John and his team did fantastic work with the installation of the 10 Kw solar system. The work has been through, clean and complete. Communication has been great from start to finish with the process explained every step of the way. John and Justin were patient and very helpful with the system design, HOA approval, permitting and city inspection. They gave me the best deal by far!! Excellent experience throughout and I cannot recommend them enough. I will come back to them for any future projects .They went over and above my expectations!!

We contacted John at Emerald Energy after a search of NC solar providers. While we spoke with a number of companies, John was far and away the most responsive and thorough of the folks that we talked with. He was very transparent about costs and financing options, and did not overcommit on install dates or timelines. After making the decision to move forward with them, we finalized the system plans, and they made their first visit to plan the install of the Powerwall and Solar the day we started our move in. They also installed our EV charger that day as well which was a HUGE help for us. Throughout the process the whole team was extremely diligent in their work and craftsmanship, and they were always sure to be up front about what was happening and when it would be happening. The install for the panels and Powerall was completed pretty rapidly after all of the hardware arrived, and commissioning of the system was completed not long after. We also had our first power outage the day after the system went live and we didn't even notice that it happened. We couldn't be happier with the results and we highly recommend the team at Emerald Energy!

We got our siding and roof done at the same time as the solar panels, and we love how the house looks now. John has been incredibly responsive the whole time, even with the complications of the pandemic. He's helped us with the paperwork and logistics at every step, from permits to the HOA to Duke Energy. Any time a complication arose, John communicated clearly with us about what the options were. For example, during the siding replacement, the team discovered that one of our porch pillars was rotting through; John gave us a more than fair price on replacement for both pillars + repainting. I have had my solar panels about 6 months, and I have loved ever minute of having them on my roof! I really love that we are generating our own power, and that with the loan paid off in 12 years, we'll have free power! So, I was contacted by another company that was canvassing my neighborhood, setting up meetings about solar panels. I had a meeting with them, but the prices were really expensive. As a good project engineer, I did what I would do with my company, and got several quotes. One of them was from John Leonard, who owns Emerald Energy in Raleigh, NC. As soon as he came and I started working with him, I knew he was the kind of installer you would want. He told me he was vendor neutral, he would install any form solar panels you might want on your roof. I work with a lot of specific vendors, and sometimes that really leads to inflexibility of a system and a greater cost, because you have to use the specific parts the vendor has (and they can price them however they want). I asked his suggestion, and he set me up with a system that is fully ensured for 25 years (just like the system the other contractor proposed). John's price point was excellent as well. He was half of the original quote I got, which was baffling (the other company must have been making quite the overhead). The project went smoothly. Not only John, but his co-manager, Justin, kept me up to date and answer the plethora of questions that came up as the project progressed. And you want to talk about service: The other day, I had an outside outlet that was powered, and thought it might have been a breaker. To isolate power, I turned off the disconnect to the solar panels, but I forgot to turn it back on. I saw that I wasn't creating power for several day, but was busy, but didn't have time to look into it. After a week, John contacted me and wanted to ask me if everything was okay with the system. I really appreciated that he was still monitoring the system and wanted to ensure performance, even after the installation. After a quick walk to the system, I realized my mistake, turned back on the switch and all was good. John and his whole crew do an exceptional job, and I rave about them anytime someone asks me about solar panels.

Emerald Energy is probably one of the best Solar Companies in North Carolina if not in the United States. It was a pleasure working with John, Jordan, and crew. They were all very personal and professional. As the owner of the company, the knowledge John brings is unmatched in the industry - he is the knowledge base, but is still willing to learn and keep up with technology. From putting in new panels and inverters, replacing fixed panels to installing critter guards around the panels, John has done it all for me. I have talked to other companies from North Carolina to California - others will give you half answers or walk you in circles, not John. He is unmatched in his knowledge about solar panels, no one else comes close. Oh, he also keeps up with all available local and state rebates and Federal tax credits and will ensure you know what you can claim on your yearly taxes.
