New Solar

This year we decided we would check into Solar. We contacted a couple of companies, some returned our calls and ADT just hung up because I would cut down a tree, which was not shading the roof. Two actually came out to make a presentation and bid. John Gschwendner from Compass Solar's presentation was the best. They/he did the homework. I retired from managing data centers so expect complete proposals. It was geared to our data and our house. Did not try and sell a in house usage for electricity or try on point out that my toaster oven, which uses a mechanical timer was drawing power all the time. They worked with us on # of panels, but left the placement up to them, they are the experts. John and I discussed the different panels and inverters, pros/cons and what would be best for us. Once the all the paper was done, it went very quickly. They put up 25 panels in 1 day, it was an extremely hot day, and we have a metal roof. We had some minor issues after install, but they were taken care of without complaint. I am very happy with the service and installation, and the power being produced. I would recommend anyone doing this to do their homework, before and after the presentations.

Solar water heater for pool

In less than a year the system began to leak at a joint. Called, someone came out went to the system and said he fixed it. about 8 months later it began to leak again. Called and was informed that the warranty had expired. They want $200 an hour to repair. My brother is a retired contractor. We looked at the joint in question. The repair was slopping glue on the exterior of the pipe. It was never going to hold. We cut the joint out and replaced it. Now I need a new roof, Compass wants over $5,000 to take the system down and reinstall. I think I am going to throw their system away and find a more reputable company. Good luck if you use them.

Excellent all the way around, rep that talked to me, Stacy in office and the installers

Overall a positive experience

We worked with John G on installing solar on our home. Truth be told the process wasn't perfect, there was a communication issue between us and both the electrical and install people, but how John responded revealed his character. He was quickly able to work the problem and provide a solution. We would recommend him to others.

Well designed and installed system with Batteries.

I can't express enough how much I enjoyed working with Compass and Terry my rep. As an engineer myself I was given every opportunity to review the data on each battery system and was lucky to be their launch for the Franklin WH battery system. There was a delay on the batteries but this was not the fault of Compass directly and I am very satisfied with the batteries and PV system currently running in my home. I can power my entire house for upwards of 18 hours with no power saving taken into account. Being more judicious with power in an emergency would easily put me over 36 hours of battery with no sun if not more. The installs were both clean and professional and I even enjoyed standing around and chatting about the specs with the technicians and Terry when he would come up for a visit. I was professionally treated and each snag hit with power company or battery delays was relayed to me quickly and I was kept in the loop with upcoming timelines and install dates. I couldn't be happier with my finished system. Would recommend them for any custom system install out there.

Professional, Timely, Thorough

Terry L. was extremely thorough in explaining options, capabilities, and breaking down all elements of the quote/process. The advertised timeline/price was met...which seems to be uncommon in Florida. I was up and running within 60 days of signing. Sales, Customer Service (Office), Installers, Electrician were all punctual, professional, and knowledgeable. I would recommend Compass Solar over a few other local companies, left unnamed.

Going solar with Compass Solar Energy

Compass Solar has been a very interesting and special experience! I watched them put on the panels and do the wiring and I was impressed with the attention to detail! It is obvious that they truly do care about each homeowner. They also took the time to make sure that I was happy about the location of the panels that had to be relocated to a different roof plane due to fire codes and certain requirements for installing near each ridge line on the roof. This tells me that Compass truly does everything by the book and will go the extra mile to ensure things are done correctly. They also use the best microinverters on the market at this time! (A-model inverters that will actually invert everything that is produced) The solar consultant that I met with from Compass was Landon Cagle. He was very nice, knowledgeable, and not pushy as a salesman. He showed up on the day of my installation to make sure I was happy. Landon was not just a salesman and I could tell he actually cared that I was happy with my decision to go solar with Compass Solar Energy. Landon's number: 850-824-0314

Compass Solar is a great choice.

Compass has been the better solar company we've had experience with. They were very quick to respond and handled the whole process for us. Our system, after installed, is producing well over what we are consuming. They handled everything from installation, etc themselves and do not outsource anything, as well as having full insurance in case anything goes wrong during install. The sales person, John, was honest and the final install matched what he told us. If you are going solar, Compass is a great choice.

100% Recommend

Compass Solar and Terry Logan were absolutely fantastic. We spoke with Terry at the end of November, set in stone our plans in December, Installation happened mid January, and we were live and grid independent on February 3rd. As a company, they were professional and efficient. Terry was very up front, honest, personable, and really made this a smooth transition for us. I would highly recommend Compass Solar to anyone interested in going solar.

A true review of Compass Solar | Panama City, FL | 03/17/2023

Compass Solar Review

I don’t normally write reviews, but I know how important it is to a potential customer because I was once one. I have had my system for about 2 months, and I will give you my review on Compass Solar, the panels, the inverters and the Compass Solar reps Terry Logan and Michael Bourgeois. Terry was in training at the time, so Michael presented everything to me. After that, we were just in contact with Terry. Both were very professional. I have always thought that solar companies were there to get your money. What I found out later is that was not true. I never wanted solar for years because of that reason alone. I would talk to all the door knockers, but I would tell them I didn’t want another bill even though they said it would replace my electric bill. I just couldn’t trust them because I was spending so much money. It wasn’t until my local electric company in Panama City raised their cost per kilowatt to $.16 that I started researching solar companies. I knew that I didn’t want to talk to the door knockers, so I found 3 other local ones and made an appointment with them to come to my house. I then averaged out the last 12 months of my electric bill so I would know how big of a system I needed. Each company spent a few hours talking to me and offering me their system. What I found out from Compass was that it wasn’t the panel that was the most important item in the system, but it was the inverter. Some companies were offering me a bigger panel (405Kwh) but an inverter that only converted 290kwh. So, I learned that it would leave about 115kw per panel every hour that I couldn’t use. That seemed like a lot because I ended up getting 43 panels. There is no inverter out there that can convert 100% of each panel and if there is I couldn’t afford it. Now, Compass offered me an 385kwh panel with an inverter that maxed out at 349kwh with a 30-year warranty on the whole system. I thought this was great, but I still wanted to check some other things out about Compass and the other companies. I looked on the Compass website and found a map of every house they installed solar. I found one in my neighborhood and to my surprise it was down the street from my house. I remembered this house because it was the house that I saw right after the Hurricane Michael came through that still had the solar panels on its roof. I was amazed at that time that the panels were still on the roof after a CAT 5 hurricane, and it didn’t touch them. That told me that Compass Solar products and installations were excellent. I still did some more research and narrowed down to 2 companies after the third got a little pushy and wanted me to sign with them the same day I met him with a higher price system and higher interest rate. I then called each company and asked them what their process was if a panel or inverter were to go bad. Compass was up front and told me that they would put in a warranty claim ticket with the manufacture, and it should be resolved within a few weeks. I called the other company and got transferred twice and there was a language barrier because it sounded like they were in a different country. I was still undecided but what I didn’t take in account was the customer service I was getting from each rep. Every time, I called or texted Terry Logan from Compass he answered or got back to me when he wasn’t in a meeting. Over that month we started to build a trust kind of friendship and that was very important to me because I was investing a lot of money in this system. So, I signed with Compass Solar based on warranty (30 years), panels (#1 in Australia), inverter (bigger than the others) and most importantly the customer service I received from Terry Logan. Now, I believe customer service should extend past the sale of what you are purchasing, and Terry has exceeded that as well. Every time I call or text him now, he still answers. My wife and I are so ecstatic of the purchase our panels and the customer service we have received from him and the company. I am currently about 2 months in after switching to solar with Compass and my system has over exceeded our expectations. I truly believe we were sold the best panel and inverter pair on the market. I have over produced the past 2 months and currently have over 1,200kw in my reserve. All of this I can sell back to my electric company at the end of the year. I wonder how much I will have in my reserve by then. I cannot explain to you how important Terry and Compass Solar have been in this process. Terry is “TOP NOTCH” and has been very professional and trustworthy to this day. He has made our Solar experience like no other. I hope you chose Compass Solar; it truly has been the best investment I have every made.

Very Professional Educator/Installer

Compass Solar

Our dive into solar has been a good experience, Compass provided quality equipment and the professional people to get the installation completed.

Exactly what is needed!

After gathering information from several solar energy companies, I chose to go with Compass Solar. The company is established in the Florida panhandle for decades. Their sales force are knowledgeable and helpful. Engineers and installers are efficient and reliable. Front office and schedulers are courteous, helpful and timely. Furthermore, after the sale and installation, Compass Solar can be relied upon to assist with any questions, monitor and evaluate system results, and provide service. The Compass client representative, Terry Logan, has been most helpful throughout the process and is already planning future meetings to review system needs and operation. I could not have asked for a better individual to take care of our account. In an environment where companies and their employees "come and go", I highly recommend Compass Solar Energy.

This review is for Compass Solar and should probably be for Lg.It is the LG equipment that has been proven unreliable.I do want to be clear, the installation of the solar panels went smoothly and works great. As I wasn't dealing with LG directly the review has to be for Compass Solar. Compass Solar selected LG for my PV backup battery installation equipment. I preferred Tesla for Batteries, but was talked out of Tesla by Doug as Tesla was having a long delivery time for batteries. Little did I know what was in store for me with LG. My sole purpose of getting solar was for a reliable backup system in case of an extended electrical grid failure. My wife and I are both in our mid eighties so I definitely was not looking for a twenty year pay back. My first contact with Compass Solar was February 11, 2021, contract for $61,331.94 was signed shortly after to include PV panels and three batteries. One year and six months later, I still have not received a complete system installation. An attempt was made in December of 2021 to install three LG batteries, two of the three were defective and the one remaining does not work properly, two failures since installation. (Far from being a reliable system) Instead of replacing the two batteries with new ones, these two were sent back to LG to be refurbished.( A system that so far has taken almost eight months)Two power failures to my house, the remaining battery did not work. I have no confidence in the system as installed to ever work properly. In fact I have reviewed the system installation and in case of a power grid failure, one third of the PV panels would not be usable to the system. I have made my position clear through e-mails to management without any apparent corrective action so at this point the only corrective action for these problems would include removal of all LG equipment to be replaced with Tesla or some other tested reliable system. This is the only way I will be satisfied with my PV system installation.I do not recommend Compass Solar for a PV installation as long as they install LG equipment. Since the writing of this review, the one battery has been repaired and is working properly, but this does not change my mind about LG equipment. Chev Bolt has been plagued with Auto fires equipt with LG batteries, therefore enforcing my desire to rid my system of LG batteries.

Solar Install Failure

I bought a Solar System from Compass Solar based on reputation. I learned after the install that my local utility (Baldwin EMC) required me to purchase a $1,000,000 PLC which indemnifies them against "damage to the grid/loss of life". Of course we know this requirement is a sham by the utility to prevent loss of revenue. Now 8 weeks later I cant find an Insurer/underwriter that will issue this policy. I needed to know this before signing the contract. I have a $22000 roof ornament and no solar. It was that representative's job to know exactly what the requirements to install this system.

Shawn Laws | Gulf Breeze , FL | 09/02/2021

Know what you’re getting into

Once you have a problem with your system you are to foot the bill of $30 per hour of drive time for a tech just to travel to your site and then $95 per hour per technician just to trouble shoot and make repairs on warrantied parts… great business plan for them. Not so much for the customers…

Ron | Milton, FL | 08/27/2021

The absolute worse company to deal with!

I had 42 panels installed in 2018. I am in urgent need for a roof replacement and their customer service horrible. I was told that I have to wait 2 months and the company I did business with Green Solar is no longer in business. I promise you, find another company. I do not even want to give them one star!

Greatest company ever. Everyone I talked with was so nice and h

Well I went solar. Compass solar company out of Pensacola. They are a super company to work with. They kept me updated weekly on the progress of the install. It was so nice dealing with a company that actually delivers what they promise. First power bill was 1/3 of bills in the past and we have had lots of rain n clouds. Thanks Nick and every one at compass solar.

We Really Trust Compass

Compass was amazing, we had other quotes from other companies and compass was more professional, better quality, and price was even better

Andrew F | Pensacola, FL | 04/02/2021

Awesome Job

We did THOROUGH research on all the different solar companies in our area. Compass was the most experienced, most knowledgeable, and best priced company there is. They offered a lot of options and allowed me to choose what I felt was best for my specific needs. Our sales person's recommendations were spot on. The install crew was excellent. Our power bill is gone, except for the connection fee, just as we were told. 5 stars for Compass. If you are considering solar, Compass is the only company that you need to call. Don't bother wasting your time with anyone else. Thank you.

Compass Is The Best

We were interested in solar primarily to make a positive impact on the environment. Compass Solar Energy was the most knowledgeable company that we met with out of the 3 that we spoke to. The other companies tried to undersize us to make the project seem cheaper. Compass was straight forward and honest. No BS. Bryan was my consultant and he did a fine job. The crew was on time and cleaned up after themselves. The experience felt effortless. Thank you.

Had the pleasure of getting my solar installation done with Compass Solar after shopping around. From start to finish, I always felt like I was in the know with what was happening. If I had any questions they were answered right away. Highly recommend this company for solar.

The Right Choice

Thank you Compass. This company did a great job and made the whole process fun and easy. Trustworthy folks with a lot of integrity. Glad I did not go with any of the other companies I was looking into, Compass Solar Energy was way more knowledgeable and experienced than anyone else.

Great Company

Installation went very smooth. Very friendly workers and willing to answer questions. Michael was very helpful and answered any questions we had. The electrician worked until dark the day before Thanksgiving to get the system finished. Great company to work with and glad we chose Compass Solar Energy.

Compass Solar Energy Is The Best

Compass was awesome. They were the most knowledgeable and least pushy out of anyone we met with. They customized a system at my kitchen table. Compass provided choices. Everyone else just offered one product. Compass offered everything anyone else offered and more. These guys have been doing it for over 20 years and it shows. We are so happy we went with Compass. Going with any other company would have been a mistake. The office kept us up to date on the progress of our project as it went through engineering, design and permitting. The install crew was professional and clean. All our friends and neighbors used Compass for their solar and we are all extremely happy with our decision. Definitely recommending Compass over any other company by far.

So Amazing!!!

Compass is the oldest and most experienced company around. They are so nice and I really trusted them after meeting with their representative, Michael.

We were extremely satisfied with Compass Solar

We were extremely satisfied with Compass Solar's crews that installed our small (10 panel) system on our townhouse on Destin Harbor. The panel installation team was very professional and efficient. The power panel expert (his nickname is "Duck") was very professional and explained how to check out our daily production on our cell-phones and did an excellent job putting the main control boxes in a hallway upstairs that are completely unnoticeable and solidly installed. We just got our first monthly bill (since we flipped the switch on) from Gulf Power for the month of May for $64.93 !! That was compared to last May's bill of $119.30 for a 2000 square foot town-home. I know we are very satisfied with our choice of Compass Solar and we feel that we are doing our small part to decrease America's dependence on fossil fuels. This, in spite of the "Moron we currently have in the White house"

10k Rooftop system installed 2013

Cant say enoufgh good things about my system and the folks at Compass Solar. The folks at Compass listened to my requests and designed a system that was right inline with my needs. They installed the system in a timely manor with a curtious profesional install team. We now enjoy a quality net metered system that provides almost all of our electric needs. 2017 we paid the utility only $186 for electricity for the whole year to heat / cool and run our 2100 sq ft above grade costal home in NW Florida, not including the 65 cent per day base fee everone with Gulf Power pays.
