Doesn't support thier residential waranties

Borrego Solar sold off their residential business. The people that they sold it to have folded. No one responds to my inquires about system warranty service. Up a $35000.00 creek without a paddle it seems.

They were a pleasure to work with. Would definitely use them again.

Bill Washauer | 04/10/2007

It sure would be great if everyone would do this.

Eric Dunn | 03/31/2007

System performance has been good. Al Gore and the Inconvenient Truth were the immediate trigger for our decision to install a PV system.

I was alerted to Borrego Solar by ads run on KQED radio

This company is the best we have ever had do work for us. Every person we had contact with was outstanding, friendly and helpful, The work crew was neat, quiet and careful. We had a fuse blow over the Christmas holidays. Tom Phipps made a special trip to our house to bring us a new one and install it when we couldn`t find one at any local store. I would do business with them any time and have told several people to be sure to contact them when they are ready to have solar installed.

They are all true professionals. The job went as planned, all workers were fantastic. We could not be more pleased with Borrego Solar!!!!!!!

Excellent company; professional and patient; no surprises, no high pressure tactics; they did exactly what they said they`d do, in a timely manner; installation crew competent, friendly, enthusiastic, and explained any procedures until I understood. One of the few contractors I never had a problem with. I`d recommend them to anyone wanting solar.

Excellant job, kept our yard clean of any debris from the work. Communications excellent during the entire process Wanted to get off grid from my Utility company as much as possible

I perceived Borrego Solar as a young energetic company that is enthusiastic about Solar PV technology. Their installers seemed to be more technically savvy than the usual contractors. Spoke with several Solar Contractors at the 2005 Contra Costa Home & Garden Show at the Concord Pavillion in No. Calif. Most were only interested in capturing a sale. The Sharp manufacturer`s rep seemed to be the most helpful, informative, and had the best panels at the time. He referred us to Borrego Solar. I researched Borrego and liked what they were doing.

Very professional. Excellent job. My only concern is that the pole-mounting system does not appear to truly be designed for 100MPH wind loads as it was first installed. Too loose.

Bill Leininger | 09/04/2006

BEST contractor we have ever hired. Thorough education and explanation of the technology, equipment, and finances prior to contract signing. Professional, prompt, courteous, and tidy installers throughout the on-site work. Company provided great follow-up support for post-installation questions (particularly with power company delays in system activation).

This year we had several contractors do parts of our solar upgrade, Borrego was excellent, they cleaned up after themselves both days and explained where they we at all the times to this excited homeowner. I learnt a great deal from the installers, who were obviously solar enthusiasts, too. We would have purchased some form of solar had ther been no government incentives, but it would not have been as comprehensive a system. We are now producing all our electrical needs, most of our hot water (from Sun, Light and Power) and only `regular` fossil use is our gas range (that will be hard to move me from gas cooking, unless better technology comes around) and our 1 car (not a SUV) which will be replaced at some time in the future with a more energy efficient vehicle (when we forced to buy our car in 2004 due to the death of our 1991 wagon, there was not a `family` wagon available in a hybrid. That situation changed 3 months later but we could not wait).

Borrego Solar is simply the best...

Dennis Rosche | 08/31/2006

Great job on the install, on time and no problems. The sales rep did not apply any pressure or hype, carefully explained all aspects of the system and answered all questions. I would be happy to recommend this company and have given their information to those that have asked me about solar. The only real complaint I have about the system is that the utility co (SDGE) is allowed to charge for the connection fee regardless of how much excess electricity I produce. This excess becomes pure profit for the utility. The regulation should be changed to allow the consumer to completely zero out any utility charges assuming enough excess energy is produced. During the recent heat wave I was glad not to have to be concerned about my bill.

Professional, honest, experienced, good office staff. The day the inspector from SDG&E was to arrive an employee who lived nearby sat in his car (on his day off) for hours waiting patiently for him! That`s service! Father was a meteorologist and had been into solar for many many years. Brother uses Photovoltaic on his boat.
