We first met Black Platinum Solar in 2009 and after a very lengthy due diligence process decided to choose them to install our Photovoltaic Solar System in 2010. They did a panel expansion for us in 2013 then an inverters upgrade in 2018. Every time we've worked with them we feel so thankful that we found them... which is now 15 years ago. Continued superior customer service. We wouldn't even consider using a different company for any future solar needs.

Black Platinum installed my Solar System and had it commissioned in 2008: 40 Solar Panels delivering 8.4KW of power. Last month, I had to have the 25 year-old roof replaced. No roofing contractor could handle the complications inherent with Solar Panel removal before, and replacement after, the new roof was installed. Black Platinum installed our system here in Anthem, Arizona in 2009. We later expanded our system with them in 2013. I soon realized they were the most trustworthy and helpful contractor firm of any kind that I have ever dealt with, and I have had many over many years of home ownership.

After talking to a few solar companies, I chose Black Platinum Solar to install a 55 panel system on my home. I got an excellent education on solar panels and inverters and the whole process of purchasing and installing solar on my home. I was delighted that the panels did not have to show on a large part of the home's front roof as had been suggested by other solar companies. John and Johnny were both so knowledgeable and the process worked exactly as they promised...which these days is remarkable. They were available and responsive. I am totally impressed with their communication. These are not people who sell you something and then disappear! Their installers were good people who finished their work faster than I expected. Best of all, I love my new solar system and I'm thrilled with how it works.

I was very happy with Black Platinum Solar. They managed to come within a day or two of contacting them. They were always available to answer questions and gave good instructions on how to operate the equipment and troubleshoot.

Our solar purchase and installation with Black Platinum Solar was more than exceptional! Once signing the contract, we had nothing else to do as Black Platinum coordinated the required meetings with the City of Scottsdale and Arizona Public Service. Great Company to work with.

We started taking bids for solar earlier in 2021. Some companies only wanted to push an expensive lease option that would have cost us more than $60000 out of pocket by the end of the lease! Sure, they take care of all maintenance and repairs, but when you do a little bit more research you can find that reputable companies have 25 year warranties on their products. Luckily, I started reading about microinverters and decided that I wanted an Enphase microinverter instead of a string inverter. From there, I searched Enphase's website for an installer in my zip code and Black Platinum showed up as a "platinum" level installer. At the time, the next one listed had a "gold" status. We got a quote for $38000 for 13.3kW with LG Panels and Enphase microinverters. The payoff at the time was ten years, but recently Arizona is pushing APS to cut the off peak time from 3pm to 8pm to 4pm to 7pm and they are forcing them to stop charging people with solar for a grid connection fee. These changes will definitely shorten our payoff time a little. Black Platinum had us make the payments in four phases which worked out for us to help space out the large checks. The first phase involves getting city permits, the second phase is installation, and the last phase is APS approving the install and giving you the go ahead to flip the switch and turn on the system. We opted for no battery in our system since our solar buyback rate is locked for ten years. After ten years, I'm anticipating battery technology to be much more superior along with the Enphase technology for being able to go "off grid" while still being connected to the grid in the event of a power outage. After the install, we had a few hiccups that either we solved or Black Platinum solved: 1. One of the trees that the previous owners planted was shading my roof and blocking sun to three of my panels. I had my landscaper trim the tree down beneath the roof line on my house. He still needs to work with my neighbor to trim the same tree on my neighbor's side. The three panels are probably running at about 60% right now (up from 16% when they were shaded). 2. Three panels did not have power after the system was turned on. Two of them weren't plugged in correctly and the third needed a new microinverter. I coordinated with David (Sales Manager) to get the repair team to my home to fix these three panels. I love the Enphase Enlighten app for my Android phone. It shows your energy use so you know when you are doing things during peak energy charges. It helped us realize that if we shower between 3pm and 8pm it uses 5kW just to refill the water heater. Now we shower outside of that window given that our APS bill is negative at the moment (it could be even more negative). The way our system is designed we are expecting to get money back during the cooler months and we're expecting to pay some money during the four hot months in the summer. It should balance itself out. We are looking forward to getting the rebate next year and hope that the solar tax credit is extended to help more people get solar in the future. During each phase of getting solar, David was in touch with me constantly via text on my phone. I was also in touch with John Black (owner), Melia (permits), and David via email. All of their estimates for the time frame for permits, construction, and APS were pretty spot on. They had to cut into the wall in my daughter's room and garage to help hide the power conduits and it's very professional. The drywall people patched it up like it never happened and we just happened to have painted my daughter's room recently as part of a kitchen remodel (using the same painters). A few coats of left over paint and we can't even tell anything happened. I highly recommend Black Platinum if you are considering going solar and I have given their information to a few of my neighbors who are thinking about it for themselves.

Darien (a Black Platinum Employee) showed up at my front door about an hour ago. Now, I have owned my solar panels for 3 years and I submitted a 5 Star review after the panels were installed expressing my extreme joy with their service, kindness, and customer service. Today ... I was no less impressed. Darien shows up, rings the doorbell, and said that he was here to check my panels to see why 3 of them weren’t working. He asked my permission to hop up on the roof to have a look. After picking my jaw up off the ground, I said yes, of course. I told him I had no idea that there was an issue. He said that John, the owner, gets an email for everything these panels do, and that he was notified that 3 of the panels were not working, and that is why he was there. All I could think is WOW!! They are a small, family owned company, and they are taking care of each and every one of us, and monitoring every single detail for us. AMAZING!! In addition, they have employees like Darien, who are knowledgeable, helpful, kind and just all around great people giving special attention to the customer service that makes them even more AMAZING!! Thank you so much Darien for being a great and very pleasant guy, who was willing to answer the questions I had, your bosses are lucky to have you!! Black Platinum Solar and Electric provided excellent service starting with sales from David Armstrong, technical expertise from John Black Sr and Johnny Black along with a high quality professional install team. The team was customer oriented insuring my questions were answered, decisions were fully understood and agreed upon. The installation was completed in 1 day and running within 1 week.

I don't often write reviews, but was so happy with my recent solar installation by Black Platinum Solar and Electric, I asked them if I could write a review! I started discussing my solar needs with four different solar companies in December of 2020. Black Platinum came onto my radar due to their many positive reviews in Nextdoor.com. In late January I chose them because the sales manager David Armstrong was most informative and the most responsive to my many questions. There was no sales pitch, just an honest desire to help me make an informed decision. My system was designed in early February and installed in early March. Everything went exactly on schedule. The crew was on time and cleaned up after themselves. The owner John Black personally phoned me several times to ensure I was informed about the progress and answer any questions I had. My system is now up and running, and I could not be happier. And John followed up again to be sure I was happy. I truly am.

I contacted 4 companies to discuss my interest in having solar installed. One never returned the call; two others left we feeling there was a lot of information missing from replies and it almost appeared they subbed the work out. One also laid out part of the panels on my neighbors roof. With Black Platinum, they spoke to me at length on the phone and then scheduled a home visit to look at the roof sections and how they faced. They then submitted a proposal to me with there exact layout. Costing made me down size the proposal and they were happy to work with me. The modified work was completed and I am very happy with the quality of the company, all personnel, and the system. As funds permit, I will definitely use them to complete the install of the additional panels.

Black Platinum Solar is one of the few solar companies out there that won't harass you. All the other companies were super pushy, calling all the time and showing up at my door, and threatening that their "great deal" would expire if I didn't pick them soon. I like to do my own research and make decisions in my own time. I reached out to Black Platinum and right off the bat, they let me know they wouldn't pester me and respected that I knew what I wanted. Communication throughout the process was great and I felt fully informed of what to expect. There was minor hiccup in getting cleared to operate but they were on top of it. It's been 3 months now and I've been very happy with how it all turned out.

Very happy with my new system. The quality of the work was great. Can't believe what a good job they did. Nowadays it's hard to find anyone who will take the time to do things right. John called me a few weeks after install and said they had made a mistake and over charged by $100. He sent me a refund check a few days later. Talk about honest.

Now I'm adding my comments to these reviews in hopes this will help someone else. John Black and David Armstrong are very easy to work with. I made 3 changes to the number of panels I wanted. They worked with me, APS, and our HOA to get the installation completed before the 31 December deadline for a 26% federal tax credit. The installation involved courteous workers and the entire job was completed in a day. Clean up and installation quality was very good. My neighbor also went with Black Platinum Solar and we are both very very glad we did.

Best of the best. Proceed with confidence. Black Platinum delivers. Veterans in the industry. My builder used them on his home and was able to confirm first hand regarding their capability. Neither of us is easily impressed. We are both very impressed. I have a 117 PV 40kWh system. Helps keep APS at arms length.

John is the owner and you deal directly with him. He is extremely knowledgable and takes the time to educate you about the solar product. His price was excellent. He uses his own employees to install the products. They are excellent workers and have been with this company over the years. John helped me to download an Enphase Manager App. which provides data about my solar usage and production. He spent time teaching me how to interpret this technology. I looked into Tesla and SunRun. There was no comparison to the quality of service. I highly recommend this company.

We chose Black Platinum Solar because of the price and because of the no-nonesense sales pitch provided by the owner. We gave him our APS bills for the previous two years. John calculated the system we should get and said he had configured it a little higher than our bill because people tend to consume more energy after getting solar. Since the system was installed in October of 2019 we haven't had to pay our energy company a dime. Last year we received about $100 back from APS and this year it looks like we will get ~$300 back. That is a lot better than the $524 bill we had in August 2019 which caused us to look into solar. We got estimates from about 7 companies and chose Black Platinum Solar because of their 5-star rating and their price, which included an upgrade to our electrical panel.

They explained every aspect of the system from process to savings, tax benefits, how to, what when, payment schedule and one of the things I remember most: "Once your installation is complete we are still here for you with any questions or concerns you might have." They monitor my system and when there was a small programming problem they knew before I did and came right away to fix it! They really care...

Look no further for a solar company! Black Platinum is family owned. They do not have sales reps, the people who talk to you about the solar systems are the owners. Thus, no one working on commission means the best price around. Plus they use name brand panels, unlike some of the bigger companies. They were very patient with me, answering all my questions and giving me all the time I needed to to decide if I wanted to go with them. There was no pressure, what so ever (two other companies both told me their "reduced" price, which were both more than Black Platinum's always price, was only good for 24 hours). Because they are a smaller, local business, they are able to install your system must sooner than other companies. The two other companies from whom I received quotes, told me that the soonest they could install would be in 6-8 weeks. Once I gave Black Platinum my deposit, my solar system was installed in less than one week! The installation crew were such nice guys too! I've had multiple people work in home. I always had some cleanup after they left, but not with Black Platinum. Other than the system on my roof, you would never have been able to tell they had been here. They cleaned up everything! My home is almost 50 years old. After the county's inspection it turned out I needed new grounding rods. This in no way would have been Black Platinum's responsibility but since they had not noticed that my old ones needed replacing, they replaced and installed them at no cost to me!!! Then when the APS worker didn't understand how the micro converter solar panels work; Black Platinum was very kind, professional and patient with the APS rep and her supervisor until they understood. My system has been up and working for over a month now and it is just fantastic. Black Platinum has checked in with me multiple times since it was installed and said for as long as I have the system, to call them at any time with concerns or questions! He explained the system he was going to install the process with APS and how he would determine the right system. Our solar system has been installed and fully operational for about a month and a half. So these comments pertain to the price and installation process apart from warranty service. This is simply because we have had no warranty service and have no comments one way or the other. We obtained quotes from three other solar system providers, and found that Black Platinum Solar offered the best equipment with the best price. Also Black Platinum Solar worked very well with us to schedule the installationn so that it was completed in 2019 to maximize our tax credits. Some of the companies were not so accomodating. The installation went very well and completed within a day. The installation team was professional, punctual, courteous an efficient. The system itself is working very well. The system consists of 20 LG panels with Enphase micro converters and monitoring electronics. We are very satisfied to date!

2019 was coming to close, and with it the end of the 30% tax credit, when my wife & I made the decision to install solar panels in late October. After getting quotes from 3 installers we came across several favorable comments on our community website of homeowners regarding Black Platinum Solar. After discussing our needs, and what we were looking for with the owner of Black Platinum Solar, I was impressed. The system (panels and micro-inverters) he quoted were exactly what I wanted, and the price was extremely competitive with the other 3. The system was installed and operating by mid December so we received the full 30% tax credit. Black Platinum Solar submitted and secured the approvals of the electric provider and the city building permits/inspections, and provided all the required documents to receive HOA approval. The day set for the installation, Black Platinums work crew was on time. They were neat, clean, and efficient, finishing the same day. I researched and interviewed 4 companies in the valley. Of all, Black Platinum was by far the best. The others, well I was mostly treated like I was at a dealership trying to buy a new car. The service is what stands out the most. John kept me informed every step of the way during install and was always available to talk, no matter when. To top it off, they run the wiring through the attic as opposed to everything going outside the house (that was very important to me). Love the pigeon stop that goes around the panels which has proven to be a very nice touch. When I add to my current system, I will not hesitate to give Black Platinum a call. I chose Black Platinum Solar because I wanted a local company to work with to install my solar system. I am very glad I did as BPS was great to work with and very responsive to requests and questions I had during the installation. I would highly recommend BPS to anyone considering a home solar system!

Being new to the area, we chose Black Platinum partly based on the reviews of others. We had talked to a couple other companies, but they were represented by salespeople. We had solar at our last house, so I had a couple concerns that the “salespeople” sugar coated. When I asked John Black the same questions, he answered with solutions, from experience. The installation took 2 days to complete, and their crew is the type you’re comfortable having in your house. A bonus BPS provides, is they do not have any exposed conduits or cables. Everything is enclosed in the wall, and patched expertly after inspection. John has also returned calls promptly, and answered questions about the system as well as APS procedures.

They were professional with customer service and installation. We were kept up to date with the progress of the permits through the entire process.

My experience with Black Platinum Solar was excellent. John Black's initial discussion with me provided lots of info not given by other companies. After the quote he laid out a schedule that was met or exceeded at all points. His team did a fast and thorough installation. They all seemed to no what to do without being told. Our 12.9kw system was installed in less than two days. We were up and running within six weeks of signing our contract.

My wife and I had been looking at putting solar on our west valley home since we purchased it in 2017. We are seasonal residents who will likely move here full time in the future. In early 2018 I began looking at companies to take on our project. We had proposals for 5 kw to 12 kw systems. We had proposals from 4 different companies but never felt right about any of them. December 30, 2018 I started researching other companies since we wanted to get this project done this year. I ran across Black Platinum Solar on the internet and started digging in deeper to learn more. They had very good reviews but I am always skeptical about what I read. My first contact with the company was Jan 2 via email. I got a very quick reply - good sign. I learned they are a smaller firm; family owned and operated. I had several email exchanges and then phone conversations. I learned what products they use and why. My main phone contact was John. He spent a significant amount of time explaining what they do and why. He encouraged as many questions as I could think of on our first call. At that time I told him I needed to digest the data he provided and we would talk again the next day. We did talk the next day and for the next couple of days with John patiently answering all my questions while asking me more to learn about what we were looking for in a system. We discussed my interest in having someone look at our roof for suitability of the coating on our flat roof. John sent one of his sub contractors who specializes in roofing to look it over. The roof was ok but he offered some suggestions and options I really liked and we added a coating for the roof to the project. We were also interested in adding a pool heater for our pool. Again John had a source for us. We received a proposal and decided to add that as well. The proposal was less than one we had received in December and the proposed equipment was first class. Needless to say we added that to the project. After discussing our complete project in detail we settled on a 13.2 kw system. John and his team prepared the proposal Jan 8 which we read over and signed that day. John and the team got to work obtaining all permits and working with the various regulatory bodies. They coordinated all the work - roofing, pool heater and solar installation. They have the process down extremely well. After a bit of rain, the project kicked off in earnest Jan 14. The roofing company worked side by side with the Black Platinum team getting the roof ready and the mounts installed. Permits were obtained, hardware installed, systems connected and inspections completed. Our project was commissioned Jan 28 and we began producing energy at 1:30 pm that day. All the people at Black Platinum were great to work with. Our thanks to John, Toni, Johnny, Joann, Dan and the rest of the crew. This was one of the best and easiest projects I have ever been involved for residential or commercial. For those who read this far, I can only say from our experience, it would be hard to go wrong using Black Platinum Solar. Remember when a contract could be made by word of mouth? Impossible to do that now days but while dealing with John, the owner of Black Platinum, he fulfilled everything that he said the company would do for my installation. I dealt with two other companies while inquiring about systems but after reading the comments others had made about Black Platinum, seeing that all gave 5 stars to Black Platinum ratings I had to include this company in my research. Excellent equipment, fair price, install time about one day, the cleanup was good and the installers worked like they knew what they were doing and the wife was impressed with their courtesy to the home. I would certainly recommend that you talk with John about your instillation.

We installed recently a solar system with Black Platinum. We fixed the roof and installed solar panels. The company was very good at meeting their commitments. We had some small delays in repairing the roof, but not through to fault of the solar installer. We had some small snags while installing a new electric panel, but John fixed them promptly. We were happy with the choice of solar installation provider we had.
