American Sentry Solar

The sales experience was average. They offered good plans but wanted an immediate commitment. They were the last company I spoke with and I liked their offering the best, but otherwise would have said no since I wouldn’t want to commit before seeing what other companies offered. The installation was quick (2 days) and the panel sizing was great. They were able to modify the design and reduce the number of panels which is a cost savings. They didn’t do the best job of cleaning up after themselves once the installation was complete. I found small brackets and scrap wires in my yard which should have been collected by them. So far the panels are working fine and the app is straightforward.

From great to good

We replaced our roof and installed solar panels at the same time. Installation was well organized and efficient. A window screen that was accidentally torn during installation was fixed within the week. We went from great to good when the electrical panel failed inspection twice. Both times an electrician was out the next morning and had it fixed in 10 minutes, but it takes at least 2 weeks to get the county inspector back out, so we had an extra 4 weeks of electric bill, and frustration. ADBuilders paid our additional electric bill.

Good Solar Company

We chose them due to price and customer service. Very responsive by email. Upfront with what the process will look like and details.

Friendly staff

Seems it may pay for itself after 10 years or so. I had an electric bill that was approx half what it regularly was, but that was before the upgraded meter was installed. Since that was installed, it has been running in reverse more than forward, so that is a good sign. The panel installation looks good as well.

Quality job

American Sentry first installed new architectural roof shingles, as the roof was 30 years old. The installers did quality work. One week later the solar installers arrived and installed 40 panels. This took less than two days. We did have a call back to replace the monitor. American Sentry handled the issue professionally, and we were up and running since with no problems. What sold us on American Sentry was their ability to provide a great financial package, and the promise to use panels that had unobtrusive borders so that the installation was clean, with no exposed conduit, and not obvious from the street.

I had been thinking of going solar for some time. I had had several conversations with other solar companies, but never felt comfortable enough to move the process forward. I don’t recall how I found American Sentry Solar, but, I do know that I am glad that I did. With American Sentry Solar, even from the initial contact, there was an ease, a comfort to move forward. Their sales rep came to my house and we talked. He explained everything and answered all my questions. I thought his presentation was very good. We went through the financing and expectations. And, in the end, I decided to move forward and do business with them. He was even open and available to answer all the additional questions that I had after the initial meeting. The contract was signed and everything basically followed the path just as he explained. Go Solar Power!

On July 18th BGE switched out my meter and a couple days later I was able to turn on my solar panels! The Job is complete and I've officially gone solar! The process took about three months from sales Pitch to turning on my solar panels To be honest, I was not planning to go solar just yet I just wanted to learn more about it I'm glad I made the decision. It all began on April 27th, Larry was very knowledgeable during the salespitch sharing quite a bit about the microinverters and the various programs I'd be eligible for. He conveyed the message that ADB is a good company and will get the job done professionally and conveniently at a reasonable price. Larry was initially really pushing for me to make a decision right after the sales pitch but I was able to take a bit of time to think it over and decided that this is something I can actually do. I signed the contract on 5/2/18 and from there I was happy to find that they kept their promises. They handled the permits, the install was scheduled at at a time that was convenient for me. They came out an installed the solar panels on 6/24/18. They were on time, the panels look good, they cleaned up after themselves, and they were very courteous and professional. while I awaited the inspection by the county and the changing out of the meter by BGE. They filled out the AA County property tax credit paperwork and the Maryland R-CEGP grant paperwork including providing envelopes to mail them out. All I needed to do was review, sign, and mail. They even emailed over the registration application for SRECS. They made the whole process really convenient and painless…I am a satisfied customer.

I am so happy to have made the decision to go solar. American Sentry Solar was the best choice; a Christian-based company was exactly the right choice. The installation process was intensive and everyone was SO NICE to work with.

Quick and efficient installation. Now that the system is up and running, it is delivering as promised. Today the final patchwork of the sheet rock in the garage was completed. Can't tell where the original openings were, that's how goos a repair job was done.

New solar customer

The only reason I'm giving 4/5 stars is because there's always room for improvement. The guys who came to install my panels were fantastic. Wasn't even sure if they were going to be able to keep to schedule due to the rainy season in Maryland. They came by sat in there trucks whie the last drops fell and started on installation of the panels. Luckily the rain did not return that day. They were polite, engaging, professional, and with the exception of the new solar panels on the roof you would have never known they were here. The panels have been on for just a little over 2 weeks. I look forward to my next utility bill. Thanks again to American Sentry Solar.

As time goes by, warrantee maintenance gets slower

I bought a solar installation back in spring of 2012, and at first American Sentry Solar did prompt maintenance. But on some occasions, especially with the Enphase microinverters, the warranty maintenance has been disappointingly slow, sometimes 6 months to replace under warranty. They seem to need complaints to fix problems. Yes, Enphase was supposed to be highly rated.

Solar Hot Water System

American Sentry Solar did a great job installing our solar hot water system. There was one hick-up after installation which they promptly returned and took care of. In addition all of the holes they made getting the pipes through the house they returned and patched and even painted to match like it never happened.
