Agathon Solar

My home has been largely powered by solar-generated electricity since 2018, but without a battery backup system. The original solar array on my home was installed by a well-reviewed company in the Detroit area. I utilized the Energy Sage online resource for information and to identify installers at the time. There were not many companies in Michigan with a history and reputation in 2018 and I was happy with that installation at the time. I would have preferred a more local company. Being enrolled in the net-metering program with Consumers, I didn't have power in my home when the grid went down - even if the sun was shining and my panels were producing. Living in a relatively rural area, power outages are not uncommon and increasingly unpleasant as I age. So after the 26-hour power outage on Thanksgiving, 2025, I started looking seriously into a battery backup system. Agathon installed my battery system on Dec 30,2025. Since then, we have had a few outages. The comfort of being warm, having light and water (my home is serviced by a household well) during an outage is beyond description. And I can monitor the battery as well as my solar array from my cell phone or laptop. Agathon Solar has been all that I could hope for in a local solar installer. The system and work of the Agathon crew was timely and excellent. They had no problems working with my existing, somewhat 'legacy' solar system. They have been persistent in dealing with issues/regulatory snafus encountered by local electrical inspectors who don't understand solar power systems, and with the changes in regulations that present challenges in upgrading an existing solar system. In summary I am very pleased with my new battery backup system and with the installation and services provided by Agathon Solar. I will continue to turn to them for anything solar.

From the initial consolation to the written proposal and the final installation working with Agathon was clear professional and helpful. They were thorough in explaining the process so there were no surprises. The installation work crew was efficient and friendly. Final instructions were clear. I’m glad to contract them and would recommend them without hesitation. They do good work as their name implies.

As a general rule, I do not review vendors, service providers and contractors (in fact, this may be my first). I contacted Agathon approximately a year and a half ago regarding a potential solar/battery installation. After numerous inquiries, all of which were answers promptly and comprehensively, Agathon installed a twenty-two panel solar system with an integrated battery storage system on my residential home. I have found Agathon’s communication, professionalism and responsiveness to be exceptional, starting on day one. Agathon’s team consulted with me throughout the process, ensuring that I understood the installation stages, permits required, and approvals from Consumers Energy, which Agathon patiently navigated. The installation team was knowledgeable, engaging, and took pride in their work on a daily basis. Agathon has continued to respond (promptly, if not immediately) to any of my follow up questions and address any concerns that I have had, well after installation and payment in full. If you are interested in solar or battery storage, I fully endorse Agathon, its professional management, and its dedicated installation team.

Agathon Solar of Spring Lake is a top notch business that I highly recommend. I had a grid tied solar array installed at my home. The communications throughout the process was excellent, the crew was polite and did an efficient job, and Greg took care of all communications with Consumer Energy. The job was done when they said it would be done and the estimate was accurate. I can't say enough about Greg and his team. I would absolutely recommend this business to anyone looking for Solar. Well done Agathon Solar!

I have had a PV system operating for 3 months now, installed by Greg and his team at Agathon Solar. I think their company is very trustworthy, respectful and thorough with their work. They answered questions, problem solved and communicated well during and after the installation. I would choose them again for future solar projects.

Greg Oliver at Agathon Solar did a wonderful job in putting together our system. The system is a large ground mounted system and includes multiple investors and storage capability along with a unique energy management system providing circuit level intelligence throughout our home. Greg was very thorough and patient throughout an extensive education and preparation process including a city variance. I can’t say enough about his integrity and service mindset throughout.
