Excellent Solar Installation

Did some research in the Vancouver, WA area. Discovered that A & R Solar was a recommended installer by Clark PUD and had installed some solar panels for them in the area. Also read other reviews that were highly positive.

Fantastic

A & R solar is tops in my book. From the beginning of the process to the end they made a potentially cumbersome process easy by handling all the details. Their work is first rate and the materials are tops. The installers arrived early, worked hard, stayed late and got the entire job finished in under three days. They handled all the paperwork which made the process so much easier. I can't say enough good things about them.

RBR'S A&R Review

A&B Solar is among the best home systems installation company we've hired. We've been home owners for 50 years and have owned homes in 6 states along both coasts. They we're prompt, delivered all promised equipment and services on time (no other vendor has accomplished that for us). They were knowledgable, available, courteous and very professional. If needed I would hire them again.

I got a flyer in the mail and called. They promptly came out, took a look, a week later we get a proposal. We had to do some work on the house first, so we allowed time for that, then presto, we had solar panels. A & R are simply AWESOME! You have to buy from these guys. Check them out.

Couldn't Be Happier!

So impressed with A&R from beginning to end they were friendly, professional and did an excellent job on the install. We chose them because a friend of ours, who happens to be EXTREMELY thorough, had 7 different solar companies do a full presentation in his home and he recommended A&R, so that was good enough for us. Upon original evaluation, Damien was totally forthright with us that we were a borderline recommendation due to a giant birch tree we had in our backyard. In other words, he didn't try to push us into something that might not be the best move in regard to production versus cost of the system. The tree ended up being diseased (true story, my cousin is an aborist and give the tree 3 years before it was a safety risk) and we had it removed. We had Damien come back and it was a no brainier for us. The rest is history, we ran our AC (heatpump) all summer and kept our house at 74 degrees, our bill for June/July would normally have been $300 (since we ran our AC so much) and it was $28. Can't beat it!

I'm echoing others, but I must say that the entire process from initial contact through on-site review, financing referral, sales documentation, final install details (somewhat involved planning for inverter location/conduit), the 3-person 2-day install process and even the post-install details was handled very professionally. Couldn't have asked for a more responsive and responsible group!

Would do it again

The entire experience with A&R Solar reps was great from the initial site visit to the installation and beyond. There were no negative surprises but a couple of positive ones. They were experienced and did exactly as promised, when promised. When the utility company came to install the meters, the installer said that he is considering an installation and said that if he did, he would use A&R. That was nice to hear from someone who has seen all the local installations.

From the first call to A&R solar to the final touches, the experience has exceeded my expectations at every turn. The analysis of my site and project plan was done efficiently at a time convenient for me. Damien was very knowledgable and had good follow up. The installation was easy and clean. The system is producing more than expected and the office answers any questions I have the same day. Overall great service.

A&R Solar Installation

A&R Solar installed a 5.04kW electric system at my home. They quoted a good price, and came and installed the system. Everything went smoothly, A&R was very professional. They even handled all permits and rebate/incentive forms. I highly recommend A&R Solar to anyone looking to go green and install solar panels.

Excellent all around experience!

We had an excellent experience with A&R Solar. From the consultation, to scheduling, to all of the work they undertake to get the permitting and inspection done, it was pretty much flawless. I was really impressed at how easy it was as a homeowner - not having to deal with the utilities for example was great.

Fantastic PV system purchase experience

This firm does everything right, beginning with listening to customer desires/expectations. I'm an engineer who wants to understand every detail. I got 4 bids. One produced horribly misleading numbers. A & R Solar offered the best technical solution and pricing was significantly less than closest competitor for identical equipment. Their communications were excellent and they were quick to respond to all my questions and concerns. They really came through for us even though it's a 4 hr. drive from their facility.

They kept me informed of all work and visits. Work was completed on time and there was no mess. They dealt with issues encountered on my end professionally and economically.

Excellence & Quality

Cannot say enough good things about our interaction with A&R Solar. Very accommodating and attentive of every detail and concern we had from presales all the way through to post installation support. We had invited 4 contradictors to our home to bid on the installation using matching system components. We chose A&R and although they were not the least expensive (2nd least expensive), they were able to articulate solutions to issues I perceived concerning the installation. Bottom line, I felt I was NOT being sold to. The other three were definitely in the ‘sales’ business and two of them bad mouthed each other! In any case, do no choose anyone else in the Puget Sound region. Installation went well, but it did run a couple days over as they underestimated the difficulty of working on our high, steeply pitched roof. Originally planned for 5 days, it ran about 7.5. The installation itself was extremely clean and professional with all new wiring in garage enclosed in rigid conduit. The other 3 contractors wanted to use flex conduit which is a ‘no go’ in my garage and speaks volumes about the level of professionalism of their electricians. If they can’t run rigid conduit, they are probably many other things they have difficulty with. I believe A&R’s electricians are commercially licensed where the other were likely residential licensed. In closing, I’d like to say I’ve had a look at a lot of solar installations, particularly when visiting California. It is extremely rare I see an installation done as well as ours. Most appear poorly planned and haphazardly installed. Panels placed on the roof with no rhyme or reason, electrical wiring exposed and running down the side of the home. It is amazing to me what people will allow installed on their roof. I think many shady contractors popped up overnight to take advantage of past lucrative state incentives there. In any case, A&R is TOP NOTCH, and you definitely will not get a ‘California’ install with them!

My home installation

A&R installed a small array (I have gas heat and hot water) for my home. The installation was delayed because of Lynnwood's permit response, but I was informed the day before it had been due to start. Once begun, however, it went smoothly, although apparently the flash drive has gotten lost in the mail somewhere because I never received it. Just got my light bill - cut in half! Hurray!. Home roof top installation was fabulous

A pleasure to work with this company from start to finish. Initial visit for proposal was very informative and carefully done. Seemed not at all a sales pitch, rather a chance to inform me both about environmental aspects as well as financial and design. The installation crew was very professional--to a person seemed very enthusiastic about the work they do. I rated the quality of products used at 5-star since they were what I asked for and seem to be working fine. But I did go with made in Washington for financial reasons. Maybe there are better European products out there, not sure. But even with our cloudy winter weather and short days, I'm getting about 5.6 kW-hours per day.

Highly recommended

A&R Solar was great during the pre-sales process - no high-pressure sales, just answering my questions, which was why I went with them over others. The rest of the process went just as pleasantly, and I haven't been paying a power bill now for over a year. I make enough through incentives in the summer to pay for my bills over the winter. Hire them! Go Solar! You won't regret it.

Solar system - A&R Solar

Sales person was encouraging and presented several design options based on highest efficiency, overall costs, and lowest payback time. I went with the all-Washington components. Installation was on time and met electrical inspector's approval. Installers were cheerful and willing to explain how the system worked and pointers on operating the system. Follow-up from the company has not been as thorough as I would like.

Great experience

I had a goofy electrical wish list including a 240 V line to garage for a future electric car, a critical load panel, and also a power line back from the garage to critical load panel to use said hybrid vehicle to power the critical load panel. They did not bat an eye and their electrician took a great "can do" attitude and also did not retaliate financially. The whole thing was actually amazingly financially reasonable and passed inspection with out any revisions at all. -would have been nice to meet the electrician earlier in the process both for his sake and for certain technical details which were over the sales person's and my head.

The whole process went smoothly. Pre-sale information was excellent, the plan they laid out was easy to understand, and the installation went quickly and smoothly. Enjoyed everyone who took part in the project. Now I just need to see the overall performance the first year. I have enjoyed watching my power meter turn backwards during the day.

The Best Guys (and Gals) in Town

Five years ago I contracted with A&R Solar to install 24 solar panels on our roof. They also installed a solar hot water heating system. Their professionalism is superb. Their attention to detail is exemplary. Through the years since this work was accomplished, A&R has been more than helpful in maintaining my system making sure it continues to perform properly. As well, the people there are great. We bonded almost immediately. I have recommended them to friends who have not been disappointed and will continue to support them. They have earned this by being committed to excellence.

In addition to installing the PV system, A&R Solar moved our existing solar hot water to make room for the PV. In doing the move, they serviced the solar hot water, which was great. The only delay was in getting parts for the solar hot water, which really couldn`t have been planned for. All in all, very happy with our install, especially after getting our first electric bill with a negative kWh usage! Thanks to everyone!
