When we first though about solor collectors for the pool, I contacted a few companies, and none would give me even a "ballpark" estimate of costs after I told them the pool capacity. They had to "come out to give an estimate". Pete at AIA looked up the house on Google Earth as we were on the phone, and was able to give me an estimate right then and there. Of course he said he would have to make a visit to the property to refine the estimate, which he did that evening. As it turned out, it was right before the Jacksonville Home and Garden Show, and I was informed that all of the solar companies would book up quickly, so that if I wanted to get it done soon (I had a two week window in order to surprise my wife when she returned from a trip), we should get started. He went out of his way to deliver the building permit applications right away, and met me at the notary for signatures and hand carried them to the office. That`s service.

Code revisions vs. "interpretations" by the county and AIA solar led to revisions in the system which required more time, rework, reinspection and delays getting the system approved and fully operational. The projected max output quoted by the system is questionable in that the position of the solar panels will not produce the higher level of output based on their current position. It would have been good to know what the max output would really be vs. max stated figure. This output could change to a much higher level as the season progresses. The suggestions I had made initially on some of the installation features might have reduced the need for rework. The county inspector was not fully knowledgable or prepared for what he was to inspect and did not communicate that clearly to A1A solar or myself on the initial inspection, thus there was a delay based on his lack of knowledge of what work should have been done by code or code revision that was only known by the head inspector. Not sure if the incentives are going to be there when the time to file occurs. We were more concerned with the cost of electric as the economy continues to go south, fuel costs rise and energy prices increase. B.M. Wilson

Pete and the crew at A1A were professional and efficient. Pete was always available to answer questions, and follow up. We expect to go for `net zero` and will be using A1A for future projects. We are very thankful also to Fl State, for their incentive program. We are quite proud to reduced our carbon footprint. Oue primary objective was to reduced our carbon footprint in a cost effective manner. A1A afforded us this opportunity.
