1 Solar

We inherited a 1Solar system when we purchased our home. A roof leak led us to remove the panels. What we found was shocking: approximately 90 broken roof tiles, 100s of penetrations through the protective underlayment, and 4 of the 19 solar panels had never even been connected. 1Solar replaced some damaged tiles but declined the larger remediation because we are the 2nd homeowners. Their roof-penetration warranty does not transfer. We are now facing more than $9,000 in repairs, including hiring a roofer and another solar company to remove and reinstall the panels so the roof can be properly repaired. We are also dealing with water damage inside our home. After seeing the workmanship beneath our system and 1Solar’s response when we asked them to address it, I cannot recommend this company.

Install: went fine. It took a long-time (5 months) but expectations were managed. Service: super painful. One of my micro-inverters failed. Manf. replaced it through warranty, but getting it serviced through 1Solar has been difficult. I am waiting 5+ weeks with no service scheduled. I call everyday, and it's fruitless. For future buyers, solar systems have a long useful life, and you will work with these companies a lot longer for service than install.

The salesman completely lied about what the solar would do for my energy bill! I saw the bill that I was promised, two months out of almost 3 years. EVERY SINGLE TIME I tried to contact them, I would get the run around, transferred to many people and conveniently my salesman does not work with them anymore. Apparently, he was gone very shortly after the sale to me. I am so dissatisfied with all of the service from the sale to installation and the way it DOES NOT WORK like I was told. If you were smart, do not go with 1solar. RIP OFF

I have a 20 panel $27k system installed last year that was designed to eliminate my electric bill. In the summer, I am still receiving NV Energy bills $70 over the connection fee. 1Solar recommended installing 6 additional panels for a cash cost of $1,098 per panel. The cost of the equipment is $350 per panel in a retail setting, not wholesale. There was no negotiating a fair price and the salesman stood me up two days in a row. So much for the “energy guarantee” and promised outstanding customer service! Also, the pigeon guard they installed was not pigeon guard but hardware cloth. The cloth wasn’t installed correctly and cost $1,000 to remove and replace as pigeons were nesting under my panels.

Our experience has for the most part positive. However, after a years worth of performance, we still are paying $ for our power. We scheduled an appointment to talk to someone about it , and the explanation was "you`ve had a lot of cloudy weather, you need to install more panels". I`m sorry, we provided a years worth of power data before the system was installed so I have to feel like someone fucked up the engineering. I guess maybe excel has too much influence on the PUC. I wish it were the old days when people didn't misrepresent themselves!!!!!

I paid their salesman 50% of the cost of the project which I thought was to expensive a week later their salesman told me the contract was canceled and signed me up with a different company The next week 1 solar can by and started the instillation even though I had a contract with Sunpower. They had to come back three times to get the job completed after 5 months and 2 months after the system was turned on it has produced zero power. The salesman did not pay them any of the 50% i gave him so they threatened to sue me for what I gave him and I have not got the 30 year warranty I was promised. One reason my system may not have created any power is I live in Colorado and the panels are covered with snow. If you are thinking about installing Solar do not do it.
