#1: The federal solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC)
The ITC has been in operation since 2006 and has funded a great many solar panel investments. In 2020, this incentive allows homeowners to deduct 26% of the cost of their PV system from their federal income tax. That adds up to a rebate of $5,200 on a $20,000 installation from the IRS the following year.
