If you really want a first class solar system and installation, Renu Energy Solutions of Charlotte, NC should be your choice.

There are many contractors out there working in the home solar roof top field. I of course have not worked with other contractors. I have heard some sad stories and I did interview several contractors and as far as I am concerned I made the best selection, Renu.

Why do I consider Renu to be one of the best? Here are a few important reasons:

- They immediately get to work. Renu provides a schedule and delivers close to the promised dates. But be aware there are issues beyond Renu’s control like, obtaining permits, inspections, utility meter installation, HOA approvals, and of course weather. However what ever is under Renu’s control, they meet the schedule.
- Renu has a knowledgeable field representative visit the site to make field measurements and make sure everything is covered in the proposal prior to starting design work. This avoids downstream issues for both parties.
- The project management team is first class, up front and more than willing to support the home owner with all necessary documentation to meet an HOA’s documentation requirements and answer any question anytime. The PM’s are on the ball in obtaining permits and scheduling inspections. I could not have asked for better assistance.
- When the field team arrives everyone just puts their heads down and does their assigned chore safely with little direction or delay. I really liked having a single point contact for all the work – design, permitting, installation, electrical, and even roofing work if necessary. There are no delays between classes of work. It flows seamlessly. For most installations I would judge everything, installation wise, is accomplished in one workday. In my case it took two days due to the project and an issue with the utility’s electrical power service.
- From the day I signed the contract to the day the system was turned required 7 weeks. About half of this time was utilized in obtaining approvals and inspections.
- There were two minor issues at start up but Neru quickly had a man on the scene and solved the issues – a minor wiring issue. The system still produced during this period, just not at 100%.
- All Neru’s team members are very friendly, easy to work with, and ready to answer any reasonable question. They leave the site as neat as when they arrived. No trash is left behind for the owner to dispose of.

My installed system has performed at or above the promised production level without any issues. My system has been on line for 8 months. In that time I have had ZERO electric utility bills for 4 months!! My electric consumption costs now average $0.0159 per kw hour. My total bills for 8 months are less than my pre solar average monthly bill.

And the amazing part to me, there is nothing an owner need do – no maintenance, no fuel, no adjustments, no annual tune up’s – the system just provides power. Start it, forget it, and enjoy low electric power bills. No fuss it just works.

Yes rooftop solar is a large investment. Even after federal and local tax breaks it has a high first cost. But when I calculate the rate return on my investment, based on the local utility rates and the actual power generated, this investment is generating a tax free 10% rate of return. The rate of return will only increase as electric power costs rise as they have historically risen at about 3% per year. I know of no other safe stable 25 year investment that can provide that rate of return. And of course, my house’s re sale value has increased too.
