Thirsty Lake Solar

First rate solar PV installer

Jeff and his team at Thirsty Lake Solar have been a great pleasure to work with. I like the friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, small business type customer service I received from the initial consultation all the way through the finish of the install of the PV system on my residence. Communication was superb too. With my install the meter box and service panel were replaced and upgraded too and Jeff took care of this as well. He was very accommodating for some special requests I wanted done at the service panel. All of the electrical upgrades at the service panel and meter box were done very professionally by Jeff. And the same can be said for PV system too, from how the inverter and emt conduit was mounted and ran to the layout and install of the panels on the roof. If you are looking for a solar installer that prides themselves on quality, professional work that is knowledgeable and friendly in helping you build a system that is right for your application then I highly recommend using Thirsty Lake Solar.

Professional and Patient from Inquiry to Install

We installed two systems, one commercial, one residential and Jeff at Thirsty Lake Solar was helpful, professional, and patient throughout. Helped us walk through state loans and deal with paperwork before and after. Install only took 2 days; first to install the mounts, second the panels. Highly recommended.

Great service and communication

We had a great experience with Thirsty Lake Solar and would highly recommend them. They were very committed to making sure we have a professionally installed quality product. Thirsty Lake started by doing a quick solar appraisal using a satellite image from Google Earth, answered our questions, and further explained the process. This was followed by a site assessment at no cost to us. The assessment showed us how many panels we'd need, how the panels would be arranged, and how this would probably affect our energy bill. Jeff, the owner, installer and electrician, was very informative, professional and helpful. Every step was thoroughly explained to us. Thirsty Lake installed an app that works with the system showing us how much energy is being produced and how well our system is working. After our system was installed, we got a call from Thirsty Lake Solar wondering if we had any questions or concerns. This was a 5 STAR EXPERIENCE. Thank you, Jeff and Thirsty Lake Solar.

Great to work with

Jeff was very knowledgeable and got teh job done sooner than originally promised. It was nice working with the owner of a business who does the work himself (occasionally with an assistant) and takes pride in his work.

Short summary of Thirsty Lake Solar

We are renovating our house and wanted solar panels. These is our first time with solar panels. We selected Thirsty Lake Solar because we saw their sign up on a recent install. The process with Thirsty Lake was flawless. They were prompt, efficient, helpful with the paperwork with the energy company, install took about a day and a half on schedule, and we're really pleased that our panels are live and working. Really had a positive experience with Thirsty Lake Solar and they are easy to recommend.

Top Notch

Simply great in every dimension: professional with great attention to detail, friendly, responsive and willing to provide expert guidance

good communications, excellent workmanship

I am very happy with my home solar installation. I chose Thirsty Lake because of the quality of their work on a large community project which Jeff installed here in Basin.

sunny days ahead

Thirsty Lake Solar installed our first system about eight years ago, and added to the system this spring to bring to the max our electric coop will allow. We came back to Thirsty Lake because of their stellar customer service, their promptness in planning and answering questions, their quiet professionalism over the course of the installation process, and because our original system has worked well for years. We've had absolutely no problems with our first array, and Jeff has generously answered my questions about obliquely related issues like co-op demand charges and state renewable energy policy. We live in a high-wind area and the bracing for the panels has given us no worries. We're happy with our system!

Great service, fast install

Awesome experience, professional install done right and on time

Really happy

Jeff is a total pro who guides novices through the installation process like a good friend. When we have more roof space, we will be calling Thirsty Lake again!

Great experience!

Jeff with Thirsty Lake installed a grid tied system on our home and made the process smooth and easy. He handled permitting and dealing with the city, had great communication in keeping us updated, showed up when he said he would, and did a very professional install. I would definitely recommend or use him again. Thanks Jeff!

Great Experience!

Jeff was a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process, from the initial site visit through final install. He is very experienced and professional and we would highly recommend him to anyone looking to install solar.

So glad we found Thirsty Lake Solar

We heard about Thirsty Lake from a neighbor who recently had solar panels installed on his house. He sang praises for Jeff Wongstrom, and highly recommended him. I had already spoken with one other solar company which I liked, but I thought it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get a second opinion. I’m so glad we did! Not only was Jeff less expensive than the first company, he also gave us a bigger inverter which meant we could easily add more solar panels at a future date. His is a hands on kind of company, and he does the work himself with an assistant. He showed up when he said he would, and always left the work site clean. He explained about the solar discounts we could get from the federal and state governments. And when the system was installed, he gave us a tutorial on how it worked. But I think the most important thing about Jeff is that we trust him. He knows his stuff, and we never worried that we were getting an inferior product. He is friendly and open, and I know if we ever have any questions, he will be available to answer them. If you are considering installing solar energy on your home, we highly recommend you talk with Jeff Wongstrom of Thirsty Lake Solar. You won’t be disappointed.

Working with Jeff

We chose Thirsty Lake Solar because they offered us a completely integrated solar power option. Jeff Wongstrom met with us initially to get a thorough understanding of our needs and at our next meeting returned with a complete set of plans and cost options. He worked independently from us- scheduling his time to work around the rest of the construction of our new house and when we were ready, so was he. The system works great, we have had no problems and we are currently in a position of having energy credit as we move into the the darker time of year.

Expert Advice and Installation

Jeff Wongstrom took time to learn our needs and he communicated the intricacies of solar power and the installation process extremely effectively. Jeff kept every appointment he scheduled during installation and helped with permits and dealing with our local power company. Our project with Jeff was the best.

After The First Year Review

Jeff was the original solar installer of our off-grid homes solar system in the extreme Northwest corner of Montana. The original owners had strongly suggested using him and Thirsty Lake Solar should we want to do any upgrades. Jeff was outstanding from the first contact, to the end of the project. This was a big bonus for someone that has no business trying to attempt building anything, especially a solar system! I basically told him what we wanted to accomplish with an upgrade and Jeff put together a system that would meet/exceed those laymen requests. Along with the extra solar gathering ability of the new panels, and the larger storage capacity of the new batteries, we have peace of mind that the system was built right, will work for many years to come, and that one of the best solar company’s did the project. He has been inducted as an honorary family member.

Best Solar Advisor and Installer

Jeff is an excellent solar energy expert. He keeps up to date on available products, is expert at designing systems that suit your needs, and highly skilled at installation and setup. We have a system that produces 67% of our energy needs which was designed and installed by Jeff quickly, efficiently and professionally.

Thirsty Lake very accommodating to my changing schedule

Thirsty Lake was chosen for my initial installation. That process was very straight forward, professional and I was provided with the needed details to move quickly on the project. Due to a home remodel, I asked for assistance with a panel removal and replacement. Jeff was very accommodating and always a pleasure to work with him.

A good company to work with on solar systems

Thirsty Lake Solar was responsive to our solar questions, sent us information, gave a quote they honored and completed the work on scheduled.

Thoroughly professional, honest, friendly

In this sparsely populated, rural corner of Montana, we weren't sure where we would find a solar installer with the expertise we could trust. Jeff at Thirsty Lake Solar was more than we hoped for. He is thoroughly knowledgeable. He came to the house and made a very detailed assessment of the situation with realistic projections and suggestions.Once he writes a proposal you can be guaranteed there will be no hidden or extra costs. Our system has been performing flawlessly in just the way that we expected.

Excellent

The entire process was smooth and professional. I recommend without reservation.

System producing energy as per pre installation quote.

Locally owned, polite, easy to deal with, offered on site evaluation. High quality components compared to similarly priced quote.

Effortless, high quality installation and system

Jeff made a very appropriate recommendation, got all the permissions, installed the system quickly and with no disturbance to us. Easy Peasy. We wanted to minimize the visual impact in our historic neighborhood and he found just the right panels. The system has been perfectly reliable and very efficient. We are completely satisfied and would recommend Jeff and Thirsty Lake Solar to anyone.

A year later

I have a small, off-grid cabin of about 600 ft/sq. I did not have a lot of experience with solar but wanted to use it for everything except heat, which was wood and propane. Jeff is as professional and efficient with his work as anyone I have dealt with...as his ratings indicate. I also impressed with his willingness to answer questions from time to time and provide me with all the necessary reference material that I need to educate myself. Now, a year later, I am even more impressed with how well the system is working and how little maintenance I have had to perform. I am also a lot more educated in using solar energy (although I have a lot to learn), thanks to Jeff taking the time to explain answers to questions and the written material he has sent me. I highly recommend that he be considered for any solar project that a home owner has.

Straight forward, efficient and reliable

This was one of the best experiences I have had with a contractor. Everything was as I was told it would be. Work was exceptional quality. Price was good, even a little less than we originally were told. Work was completed on time and system was operational in a very timely fashion. Work done and the installation are high quality and complement and blend well with our roof and structure.
