Go with another company

Poor customer service, poor warranty, and zero confidence in the companies integrity. I have had multiple issues with my system from cracked panels to poor production and little to no help from the one field tech that they have to handle all of there issues. I have had to reach out to them and cant remember when they have initiated a followup. frustrating to say the least

Meh...should have gone to Disney

Had the system for about a year. Found out that six months into it they didn't have anyone or anything monitoring it like they said it would. The system stopped reporting and the electricity company said the 25 panels produced 13 KWh during a month with more than 10 hours a day on all panels. Never did get set up like the sales representative told us on the monitoring app...tried multiple time but company is less than helpful. Should have taken my kids to Disney instead!

WHAT A MISTAKE DO NOT USE SUNSMART

Salesman told us our tax return would give us the $11,000.00 to pay off smaller of two loans. Only received part of the $11,000 tax return right around $3000. KCP&L bill this month was around $47.00 dollars but when you add both loans I pay $453.91 to save appx $100.00 dollars on my energy bill. So I end up paying around $400.00 a month for energy. The install crew did not have a sensor to see where lines were underground, I was told the device was around $200.00 and KCP&L was not allowed to do that for my underground wires. I was told by the salesman the installers would do things but when they arrived they had no idea of promises. I ended up coordinating with KCP&L to get their part done. KCP&L told me when their power went out so did my solar power.This is to ensure the safety of the lineman who think a line is dead only to get electrocuted if my solar was still on. This is really upsetting because a significant diode (like a light emitting diode) stops current from traveling backwards through it allowing it to stop solar from going back into the KCP&L lines so we would at least have solar power until KCP&L gets power on through their system. We were told by the installers from Sunsmart that the monitor unit let them monitor my solar power so if anything went wrong they could come down and fix it; my solar was down three days before I found out and had to call Sunsmart to come get it fixed. When the solar system was done it took me almost a month before I found out by calling KCP&L then called Sunsmart on turn on procedures so much for sunsmart. So many things have gone wrong since we have had the unit I could spend a serious amount of time telling all of it to you but the bottom line is they are not to be trusted. it will take many years to pay both loans off we will never live long enough to see a paying investment. Do not make the same mistake we made! Stay away from Sunsmart.

Joe Kieffaber's experience with SunSmart.

Understand that you get nothing for free, but I am getting better results from my system than they estimated when it was put it. They thought that the system would give back 40-50% of my electric bill. This is just about true in winter, but from May to about September, I have been getting 60% or better(based on my experience with electric bills and the amounts that they show for total usage and the credit from the system). I changed my central A/C to a heat pump, to increase my electric usage and minimize my gas usage. That has turned out to be a great decision. It is a major investment, but I am sure that it will be worth it all the way. And it reduces my carbon footprint by a huge amount.

Bring on the SUN!

We had friends that had Sunsmart install their solar panels. We knew electricity wasn't getting any cheaper and wanted to save where we can. We have a graph on my iPad where we can watch how much we are producing. My husband loves watching our electric meter run backwards!!

Springfield MO

The sales person was good in the beginning, however when the work was done he would not return the calls. I was working with<br />the girls in the office. After a month of having the solar panels relized that we should have gotten more panels due to no one did the research for the utility company and if they did Sun Smart did not relay the information to us. The utlity company only buys the power back from the customer for less than half of what you paid for the eltricty. <br /><br />SunSolar promised to put a sign in our front yard for advertising. However the sign was never put into our yard. The offered for us to meet them half way to get the sign which I will not do. If they want more business they can get the sign here themselves. Yes we are 3 hours away but they are the ones that agree to istall in this area.<br /><br />I will not recommend a company that does not keep their promise

Instilation of our system.

We are very pleased with our solar system, it is working very well for us. The installers that put in our solar panels and set up the positons of the panels were very professional and knowledgeable to our many questions during the set up. The only thing that we aren't really happy with was the sales man that we talked with before we purchased our system. We had questions and he misrepresented what could and couldn't be done in the future. I would not recommend talking to him but the rest of the experience has been very satisfactory. We would haven given a 5 star rating but the sales man lowered our review to a 4 star.

Here is my motive for going solar: <br />I was browsing through the weather channel app last summer and ran across an article predicting climate change for the Midwest in the future: Over a hundred days over a 100 Degrees Fahrenheit. I was shocked! Who can be without AC at those Temperatures? - <br />I've been to Germany and admired how entire village have solar panels on every roof! I've also been to West Virginia (Coal Country) and seen entire mountains stripped for the sake of coal. <br />So I made the call: Scott, their Salesman came out on a Saturday. No Pressure. We got approved for the financing that day. Easy! Lauren and the engineers handled the permit, drawings and inspection. Our panels were installed in January! It was cold! And windy! Our roof has a steep pitch!! One day the guys worked even into the dark and completed the installation. This Company really delivers.<br />It is satisfying to watch the panels performance on the e-gauge. <br />And the added Bonus: the highest electric bill since then was 6 Dollars.

Check around with other companies before signing a contract. Sunsmart took a long time to complete the job, and return calls are almost non existent. rebate information was incorrect for power company and the Feds.

sunsmart

I went solar with sunsmart and it was a great experience. It is great when the sales process was all about educating and not pushing me into a contract that I didnt know anything about. I really love having solar on my business. I am actually getting it installed in my home next month. It is pretty great when you dont have to fork out a ton of money to the power company.
