Ongoing problems with 1 inverter
We have had ongoing problems with 1 of the 2 inverters that were installed with our system. It's been going on for a couple years now and it has occurred at least 8 times in the past 2 years. It's always the same inverter and same error messages. Most of the time when I call to request that we need service they start with the usual "we will monitor the system and let you know how it goes....". Then I get the email where they congratulate me because our system is "back to normal". Only thing is, nothing has changed on our end. Same 2 errors and same inverter not working again. Getting extremely tired of this ongoing issue. It's time to resolve the issue once and for all what ever it is. Always the same inverter which tells me something about that setup in wrong.

If you have 3-5 Years
Terrible experience. Took multiple years longer to install (blamed most on the county, which may have been 1-2 months of delay) but literally over 3 years to get it running from when I signed with them from home depot. Sent my account to collections for something they will never see - seeking payment to "upgrade my roof." Although I pay the regularly agreed to amount monthly as originally agreed to with the first & second Sunrun employee assigned to my account. Company had me sit and wait multiple times for no show no call, and then I had to call them to ask where their team was. After I asked for credit back on my account they gave me ~$100 credit and a $1,200 charge. There was suppose to be no bill to me, no labor on my side. Instead it cost me over 45 hours of calls, waiting and no shows on their part. Only reason I gave them 2 is because it is running now and App is decent. They added a collection as I have no other way to fight their handling of this other than paying something they should be crediting me I am trying to give fair warning to anyone who might think they are decent.

terrible service.
I wish I had paid closer attention to the reviews before choosing Sunrun. Unfortunately, I strongly regret moving forward with their service and would advise others to proceed with extreme caution. Sunrun assured us that at least 95% of our energy usage would be offset by solar, significantly reducing our electric bill. This has not been the case. We continue to receive JCP&L monthly bills averaging $350–$400, in addition to our monthly Sunrun payment. Despite making numerous lifestyle and energy-saving adjustments, our electric costs have not decreased. Based on our monitoring and documentation, it appears that the solar system is not generating the energy promised and, in fact, is drawing power from the utility company instead. The Sunrun app itself reflects minimal to no production during times when generation should be occurring. When we contacted Sunrun multiple times to address these concerns, customer service repeatedly stated that the panels are “healthy” and “working properly,” without providing meaningful explanations or solutions. They have been unwilling to work with us to resolve the issue. To make matters worse, when we discussed shutting down the system due to nonperformance, we were threatened with legal action for breach of contract, despite the system having failed to meet the performance expectations promised at the time of sale. What’s most ironic is that they threaten to sue us for breaching the contract, but they are the ones who already broke the contract by not delivering what they promised. We have all our electric bills from before and after having Sunrun, and there are statements showing bills as high as $774 after installing this garbage system. Besides that, we requested a technician to come check the panels, and the agents from customer service told us we have to pay for that. We decided to go with this company because we have a friend who also has them, and he only pays around $30. But the system Sunrun installed at our house is not the same as my friend's. He has the old system, the newer one, pulls a lottttttt of electricity from JCP&L, and that's why we are not saving at all. We are spending more than we used to spend in the summer. Overall, our experience has been extremely disappointing. The lack of transparency, poor customer service, and failure to deliver on contractual promises have made this a costly and frustrating decision. I strongly encourage anyone considering Sunrun to thoroughly research and carefully review all terms before committing.

Run, don’t walk!
We unfortunately signed a contract with Sunrun, Inc. in August of 2024, to fix our roof, fascia/bird infestation behind the broken fascia, and then to install solar with them. Our experience with their customer service team has been a nightmare, and is now going on over a year of back and forth with no resolutions. If I could reach every single person I love to warn them about this company, I would. First, we have been bounced around from rep to rep, countless times. In many cases, it took months to get an email or call back from this company. There were multiple times where we were not informed of workers coming out, including for our roof install, which ended up happening on a weekend we were not even home. Before the roof install, our contact Alice forgot that we were promised a brand new roof (in our contract), and tried to talk us into just putting new roofing on top of the old, due to her error. Eventually she owned her mistake, but it took much back and forth. After the roof project, we informed Sunrun they didn't fix our fascia as promised. Sunrun then "fixed" our fascia months later and did it incorrectly. It doesn't extend long enough like the other side that didn't need replacing, leaving a huge gap for birds to gather, that continue to live in our walls. During the roof install, our gutters were damaged, and now hang lower than they did before meeting Sunrun, and aren't working properly when it rains or snows. Jessica our newer POC, claimed that she sent out Absolute Exteriors to check on the damage they created during the roof install, and they claimed they came out on a day we were home (Mothers Day Weekend). They never rang the bell or had access to our locked side gate but told Jessica they didn't damage our gutters. My complaints were dismissed. Lastly, contractors we've had out to quote us for new gutters have been horrified by Sunrun's work not being up to code. I can’t stress enough how important it is to stay away from this company. We joke that they have caused us more stress than we felt when my husband had a stroke in 2020. Run, don’t walk from their salespeople!

Sunrun
Starting with, Tom Taylor went out of his way to make sure everything was going smoothly and it has, thanks to Tom. After that, I was informed continuously throughout the procedure and everything was transparent. Insulation went smoothly efficiently and everyone was a professional that visited this household (they cleaned up after themselves very polite). I get continuous updates on how the progress is going and when the power will be converted over. Unlike other solar companies that I’ve dealt with that have not fulfilled their promises or kept me informed throughout their interaction with me. Sun Run has met and went over my expectations. Anyone that is in need of a solar company I would recommend Sun Run.

Lack of service after activation
Before I sign up for the contract and paid $500 deposit, the salesman promised me for a $500 gift card and $5000 tax refund next year, but after the installation, they disappeared, the system is activated but no further service is delivered until they call me for a collection and threaten me to shut down the system, this company assigned the job to subcontractors, they dont even know anything about it, regret

Misleading
Beware. Sunrun sales representative very misleading. After signing contract, they asked for me to sign a different contract which had less solar panels. In that instance, I only generate 20% of solar energy if that. I did now know or was not informed that by significantly reducing the amount of panels, I would not be generating enough to obtain a savings. So now, I am stuck with no savings and paying a monthly bill to them. I tried discussing the issue with them and all they said was I signed the papers so there is nothing they can do. I am really upset that Costco allows them to partner with them. I will be also reaching out to Costco.

Misinformation
Still receiving Edison Bills due to misleading information from SunRun Representative regarding our Electricity usage would be reduced significantly. However, we’ve paid Edison it seems more than acquiring Solar. We weren’t informed that Batteries were also needed!!
