Solar Is Freedom (Out of Business)

I had a 19 panel system installed last week. I’m overall very satisfied with SIF on pricing, quality of equipment, and quality of install. The only area that I wish was a little better is their communication. During my 3 month install process, I called the office 3 times. I never had anyone answer the phone when I called, but they did call me or text me back within 24 hours. Ultimately, no major issue, but hope they improve this going forward. If/when I move, I would be happy to have SIF install a system on my next home.

I contracted with Solar is Freedom to install a solar system on an apartment building. The install went fairly well, was completed around 10 months after the initial contract. But the monitoring only showed the power generated. I had a solar system installed in Florida several years earlier, and am quite familiar with the monitoring systems. They show power generated, power used, with graphs and history. When the system was done, it only showed power generated. I felt this was rather odd, and Solar is Freedom advised me the ability to monitor use was an additional cost. Ok, my bad, I didnt understand this up front, so I OK'd installing what it takes to monitor generation as well as consumption. When it was complete, the system seems to be mixing generated power and consumed power on the graph. They tried to fix it, but seem to be at a loss. It has been over a year now, they stopped trying 9 months ago. I filed a comlaint with BBB, again no response from Solar is Freedom. Interesting part is Enphase, the company who manufactures and supports the energy generation monitoring software has a red flag up advising me the readings are not right. Contact your installer... I talked with them, they were at a loss... not sure where to go from here. Buyer Beware.... Systems I had installed in Florida work flawlessly.

Two microinverters need to be replaced (it happens). The manufacturer sent replacement but 1 year later they won't schedule the repair/replacement or return emails or phone calls. I filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau and they didn't respond to that either! DON'T BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. If you do, don't say you weren't warned.

From start to finish Solar is Freedom has been like family to us. Our account manager Jeff White was always resourceful in answering any and all crazy questions we had about solar panels from our initial meeting, during the production process and finally installation. We had an issue with storm damage to our house and Solar is Freedom was super understanding and waited for all repairs to be completed before installing the solar panels. Our biggest issue was our insurance company and roof replacement. Jeff was super nice and assisted 24/7 with all scheduling adjustments. With 23 panels on our home we are ready to join the power grid and generate our own power. All that is left is swapping out our meter with net metering. Highly recommend.

I found Solar Is Freedom on the web along with several other solar companies. I had two come to give assessments and estimates. Obviously, I chose Solar Is Freedeom. My contact Tat SIF is Adam Tomlin; I could not expect for. better service. Adam never failed to answer questions and get back to me when I needed him. I had a special request in my project, because of supply delays the project took longer to finish than projected. Solar Is Freedom recently installed a 22 panel array on our home and I honestly couldn't be more happy with the results. We've been up and running for about 10 days now (10/20-10/29/21). We have had several cloudy days over that time, yet we are still producing enough electricity to cover our usage. Our production has average around 18kwh per day, with 43 kwh on the one full sunny day that we had during that time. Next week is supposed to be mostly sunny all week, I can't wait to see what those numbers look like. I've been watching the solar app on my phone more than Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram combined. A special shout out to Jeff White, our account manager. Jeff practically replied to my emailed questions before I even sent them. When he didn't know the answer, he pulled in his boss Alex Hentschel, who was equally professional and prompt in responding. The customer service was what customer service should be every where, but rarely is. I would recommend Solar is Freedom to everyone and have already shared their name/contact information with a few friends and family. Go Solar.....no, go Solar Is Freedom. Tell them I sent you. We love our new solar panels. We are saving on our electric bill and Solar is Freedom was great to work with. They installed our system in just a few hours and it works great.

From the beginning of the process until after they install the solar panels Adam was in touch with me the whole time if I had any questions he answered them as quick as he could. He called me to check in on the day of installation made sure that they showed up on time. the guys that installed the panels were on time they kept me updated the whole entire time every step of the way if I had questions at the end they answered them they showed me how to use it how to From the beginning of the process until after they install the solar panels Adam was in touch with me the whole time if I had any questions he answered them as quick as he could he called me to check in on the day of installation made sure that they showed up on time the guys that installed the panels were on time they kept me updated the whole entire time, every step of the way when I had questions at the end they answered them and explained how they worked.

From our first phone call with Lloyd Hall we were impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. There was no high pressure sale, just information on the advantages of solar. Everyone we dealt with was knowledgable and promises were always kept. In July, hottest on record, we kept our a/c at 72 degrees, and had an $8 electric bill!

This has been a complete nightmare! First of all, I read all of the wonderful reviews on Google. Our sales lady, Jennifer was very pleasant and assured us that she had no intention of leaving this company. This was back in the end of November. At that time, they were scheduling installs bergen February and March. We were at first very excited about our purchase, come April we were still not on their schedule for the installation. That's when we found out that Jennifer was quitting and she assured us that everything would be taking care of. They finally installed our system the end of May, well not completely. They came out the end of May to dig the trench. It wasn't until the next week before they came back to do the install and another two weeks before they came out to fill in the trench. The operator who dug the trench hit and busted our drain tile, he promised that they would fix it. My husband spoke with a manager and requested that they would take a picture of the fixed drain tile before they back filled the trench. Guess what, they "forgot" to take a picture of the fixed drain tile. Now, we are in the middle of July and they still haven't been back to finish the install. They said that they still need to set up the communication lines and they would contact us when they will be back out to complete this service. Also, the reason you see all of the positive Google reviews is because they pay their customers $500 to leave the positive reviews along with obtaining names and numbers of friends and family for referrals. Very shady company!!!

I researched. Rated within the top 5 companies in the US. Only ones with LG panels which are rated at 2 of the best in the industry. The only company that gave me correct information and was not pushy. Did not try to sell me a bunch of stuff not related to the panels like their insulation or aerators for my water faucets. Best in person experience, my go to person was Karim, he was always available and willing to give me answers that has never happened when working with a contractor before.

i installed solar on my home with solar is freedom in 2018 since then it has been great, bills have been super low and sometimes negative, no issues in 3 years of solar - highly recommend, they stand behind their promises and warranties and are always willing to help - above and beyond which is hard to find these days

Solar is freedom made the entire process simple & trouble free ! They took care of all the paperwork and permits...all I had to do was sit back & relax ! Looking forward to many years of solar power !

Very bad company. Almost 1 year ago we got offer for solar batteries installation. We didn't have huge bills at this time, but Jan (rep) promised us, that we will no longer be pay anything. Batteries were installed on August and from this time our bills were sometimes even more, than year before. And we have to pay also for batteries since this time. Jan blame us that we are working from home and using more electricity. But not me, not my husband didn't work even day from home. Jan said, that it is short days. Ok. We got April bill. Last year we paid $38.92 and this year we paid $38.64. Plus batteries payment. People, think twice before installation. I am a real person, can send anybody our bills. This is a follow up of an earlier post I made in 2020 and a clarification (I could not find out how to delete). I had a system installed in early 2020, in part for the tax rebate presently offered but also the concept that money spent for the installation is suppose to be offset by electric bill savings. Hard to pass up on that. To get to the point, toward the end of the year I was seeing no savings plus making a monthly finance charge for the panels and installation. The quirky thing was one of my first Duke energy bills after installation was <$10 and I thought we were on our way but next month bill was double what would have been expected. Must have been a glitch in Duke Energy's billing but that did blunt me contacting Solar is Energy quicker expecting next bill to be lower. Toward the end of the year a request came in my email to rate my Solar is Freedom experience and so I vented. They contacted me in a couple of days and long story short it turned out that my system was installed very professionally but some one forgot to activate the system. I have been in contact with Duke Energy and they say now working although I was expecting to see a 50% drop in electric bills and have not seen that yet but in talking to Duke engineers with long days and sunshine they feel I should be seeing results especially with summer bills. All said and done my experience with Solar is Freedom was positive and once my complaint posted they responded quickly. With my experience with them at the inception of our relation ship I would have rated them a 5, but of course failing to turn a system on and active it should not have happened. I wanted to wait and see if tax rebate would go thru with my tax preparer which it did. When you negotiate remember your tax rebate money does not flow into your pocket but flows into lending company. You can pocket the rebate but lending rates go up. I was aware of that. In summary, my experience was good overall and of course the 25 year guarantee should get me thru the rest of my lifetime but no way to assess at this point of time. My only remaining negative with the company is that they have not felt necessary to compensate for my earlier double payment of regular energy bills and payments on the system from the finance company . I did recently send them a referral from someone who stopped by to inquire about my experience and i just told them to make sure that you have them "turn the system on".

I almost got suckered by Powerhome after talking to them 1st. Luckily I had also agreed to talk with Power is Freedom for a second presentation. They were very transparent and upfront about what they were offering us. Also an extremely better price.

The company is very prompt with any issues or questions. They get you set up in a timely manner. They walk you thru the whole process and explain how everything works. If you don't understand something they will explain it and they don't have a answer they will find out and get back with you.

We've now had two full billing cycles with Solar is Freedom installed and I honestly don't know why we didn't do this years and years ago. We are saving so much money- even in the winter months! We could not ask for a better experience with Solar is freedom! From the initial presentation to installation and review they were as professional as can be. I can't recommend this company enough!

Sales presentation answered all my questions and more. Installed system is attractive and properly sized for maximum ROI. Installation occurred on time with minimal disruption. Customer service has been prompt and efficient. Very pleased with Solar is Freedom and have recommended them to friends and family.

We shopped 5-6 different solar companies to get a system on our home. Solar is Freedom had the by far best customer service and salesman. Alex Hentschel as great. Everything from the initial conversation to the company, process and product overview to the install and setup was amazing. He really worked hard to get us the right loan and system for our home. The install was completed in about 1-1/2 days. I would highly recommend Solar is Freedom.

My husband was very interested in obtaining solar for our house in Louisville. I was very hesitant given the arrangements/permits/pricing that comes along with solar. Shelby helped ease us through the process. The initial call does seem scripted but it it to get to know you, your family and your wants and needs. The presentation was through zoom. Once we committed Shelby took care of our homeowners paperwork, zoning, electric company documents and stayed in contact with us the entire way. The guys who placed the panels and wiring were extremely respectful and helpful. Would absolutely recommend this company and Shelby to anyone who will listen.

Could not be happier with the service and product received from Solar is Freedom! Shelby explained everything that would happen in the process and it was flawless. Happy to say that we are two weeks in and making enough daily KWs to offset our entire bill, and it is December!!!! They are a great bunch to work with and the numbers made this a no-brainer for me. I've checked into solar a number of times through the years, and this was the first time I really felt like I could trust the people and it would be worthwhile.

I researched six solar companies and finally selected Solar is Freedom due to their price, technical knowledge, and helpful approach. The project leader, Brian Bohus, did a fantastic job from start to finish and made it all an easy process. They organized everything – getting the HOA approval, getting the City of Westerville permits and net metering, and final approvals. The installation was completed in less than 6 hours. (29 panels) Look forward to man years of energy savings. I would highly recommend Solar is Freedom.

This is a great company to work with. We are so happy with our savings and sure wish we would have gone solar years ago! After getting several quotes, they had the best pricing and reviews!

Customer service and attention to detail was excellent.

Solar is Freedom saved us literally thousands of dollars. They researched our electric needs as well as the policies of our electric company. We were going to get double the number of panels that we got, but when our representative learned that our electric company does not buy back electricity, he recommended that we only get one half the number of panels so that we don't over produce. That saved us thousands of dollars and the solar grid is still producing enough to reduce our electric bill to almost nothing. The savings we are having is paying for the solar system.

The SIF installers did a great job and the system looks very professional. I enjoyed chatting with the team and learning about how the system works. Our salesman, Clay, was awesome. He did a wonderful job of walking us through the product, the process and finalization. We have enjoyed working with him through the hiccups and are very impressed with his professionalism and attention to detail. We count him a friend and found it easy to explain the benefits of solar to our friends and neighbors.

Leaning on the recommendation of a knowledgeable and trusted family member, my wife and I made the big decision to take the plunge, so to speak, and "go solar", using Solar Is Freedom as our company of choice. Our motivation was twofold: 1) Saving money in regards to our electrical energy costs - both now and in the years to come, and; 2) Doing our part to "go green" and help the environment (we previously had a Geothermal heating/cooling system installed). Our 44 solar energy roof-mounted panels (the number of panels required is specifically tailored to your energy usage) were installed in late June of this year, and the entire install job, as well as all electrical work, was completed in just one day! They were outstanding. They walked us through the process and answered all our questions. They were very clear on the pros and cons of a solar system. The install team was great. They were on time, and went right to work. They were polite and happy to explain everything they were doing.

We had expressed interest in solar but asked to be contacted in mid April. Andrew contacted us then but due to the pandemic our presentation was made through Zoom. He had detailed pictures of our roof and where Panama would be placed and why. The panels were reasonable and by paying cash we received an additional discount. Installation went smoothly but because our city own it’s utility company there were some hoops that needed to be jumped through. Solar is Freedom took care of all of this. The first two months we had a small electric bill but for the last 3 months our bill has been xerox

They know their stuff about solar. They technicians work fast and you dont even know they were there.

WE HAD THIS INSTALLED THIS PAST SUMMER. THE PROCESS COULDN'T HAVE BEEN SIMPLER. GOING SOLAR MIGHT BE INTIMIDATING BUT THIER CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS VERY REASSURING. YOU WILL STILL PAY A FEE TO THE ELECTRIC COMPANY FOR MONITORING, BUT OUR BILL DROPPED TO $13 DURING THOSE SUMMER MONTHS.

From the first call the experienced and helpful staff guided us through the process taking time to answer all of our questions. We never felt pressured to commit to anything. Highly recommend! I thought getting solar panels would be expensive, but it's not! They're actually SAVING me money. If I could afford it, you can too! Quick, painless installation. Paper signing was over Zoom (it's 2020). My representative, Andrew gave me his phone number so I can call with questions or help any time!

The best part of Solar is Freedom is the upper management team. When issues arose, they responded personally to ensure that the issues were being addressed or fixed. We had a major hurdle with HOA, which I am fairly certain was really one 'vocal' person in the neighborhood. We got the approval for panels for one side of the house. This was a win because solar panels are not allowed as called out in the deed of restrictions for the neighborhood. After the first set of panels went up, we received a kickback from the HOA (neighbor) to move them to a different part of the house. Then, during the second visit from Solar is Freedom to move the panels, the company was contacted directly to NOT do anything. We were not contacted initially by the HOA (or the mystery neighbor). Finally, things were agreed upon and after the third trip to our home, the panels were installed. The situation written above shows the dedication that Solar is Freedom has with its customers and to solar. Each trip out is ~2.5 hours for them and the panel installers made three and the electricians made two. Being the first house in a neighborhood that frowns on solar panels is ... was a tough road. But with Solar is Freedmon's patience and help, maybe we opened the door for others to take advantage of solar energy. Things to know when getting started and if you have an HOA: 1 - Check the deed of restrictions. 2 - Call the HOA committee and get everything approved (in writing for a paper trail). Another note of worthiness is the competency and friendliness of the solar panel installers and electricians. They did amazing jobs and were very friendly to me and my family (my children wanted to watch them work). They also gave us details of how things work for our better understanding. They are all good crews.

They were great to work with - answered all the questions I had prior to signing, the install team was great, and the follow up has been fantastic. They are quick to respond to any questions and did a great job with everything. I highly recommend them!

There are some solar companies to stay away from but Solar is Freedom is a good company to work with. They installed our panels in March and we have been very pleased with the results. They stand behind their product and Brian Brosius is great to work with!

Excellent company and Brian Bohus was an outstanding sales rep. I would highly recommend Solar is Freedom to anyone looking to go solar.
