Solar Direct

The price issue was due to the city of Venice stiffing us with a 750 permit fee. Solar uses a standard of $ 150 in its estimates but should be more aware of local fees. I was out of town and did not receive any instruction on operation/maintenance. The system was a week late due to supplier delays for some of the panels and the inverter.

I was my own general contractor. Got all permits etc. Have done this before in NM. Direct solar provided all materials and a licensed electrician. Great bunch!

There was only one additional expense (completing paperwork with county) not explained prior to signing contract. I am not treating it as issue because the expense was minor. Also I would like to know when I would receive rebate check for $500 from Florida state. Finally please answer two questions: (i) Should I shut off electric element when going on vacation? I have 80 gallon tank in the house. One friend suggested that the electrical element will heat it during vacation if water temperatue goes below thermostat. Is that correct? (2) Do I need to install water purifier to reduce salt content of water going to solarpanels. Tallahassee Utility claims that the water provided by it is among the purest in Florida if not in America. What is your opinion? Would like to install PV system. However in view of high cost involved would like to do thorough home-work via internet, build up necessary finances, spot out technological advances, wait for government incentives to unfold. Would try to exmine competing contractorsmore thoroughly. Hope to instal PV system in two to three years. In the meanwhile would appreciate updating information from potential contractors via internet.

Scheduling was an issue, but they compensated me for the lengthy delay. I was so satisfied with the work and everything else that I am happy to recommend Solar Direct. High quality design, installation, and follow-up and it is easy to find someone to talk to and answer questions. I asked alot they answered them all so that I could understand. They were extremely helpful with the city permits and applying for rebates. Excellent company. I am still waiting for the rebate from the state of Florida. I missed out on 08 money(FL had a limit on funding for the year but I was able to apply for the next year) and so I am waiting for action from the state on my application through 09 funding. This was a big disappointment for me financially.

Very helpful and product lived up to expectaions!

These solar panels are the second ones ordered from Solar Direct. The first ones did not hold when we were hit with hurricane Charley. We reordered them from Solar Direct and they installed them. They have yet to be tested (with another 150 mile per hour winds and hope that they are not tested again.

This was only a solar panel purchase... I installed the panels myself. Great support on the web page to teach me how to do it.
