Fantastic service! Dan and his staff maintained great communications with me from the very first contact with them until well after the panels were installed. Dan is passionate about his work and extremely knowledgeable about his industry. He and his staff got to my project even sooner than they had promised, completed things in a very timely fashion, and cleaned up so thoroughly that you'd never know they had been there (except for the panels, the associated equipment, and the huge reduction in my electric bill). There was no trace of the ditch they dug where they had to bury some line. They handled all the inspections and lined me up with the necessary paperwork with Northwestern Energy. After the system was operational, Dan came back to explain how to read the meters and track how much power the system is making. I couldn't be happier with the project or the process.

We found SBS Solar to be very reliable and easy to work with. The installation went very smoothly over the course of only a week; Dan was terrific at both organizing the process and educating us. Also, each member of the crew was hard working, professional and pleasant. As an example of the quality of the work, I’d cite the 50 foot+ long trench, over 3 feet deep, which had to be dug for cable to connect two buildings to the same meter; that work was done efficiently by a wonderful crew and a few months’ later, one can hardly see where this was done. Furthermore, Dan has helped us several times to more completely understand the system. Noteworthy, is that he cheerfully came to restart everything when I accidentally disconnected the solar panels. He’s very patient with oldsters who are slow learners!

I contacted Dan Brandborg at SBS Solar and asked for a proposal for a grid-tied PV package for my home. A week later I had a proposal, and a week after that, I had panels on my roof! Granted, I was lucky enough to call when they had some slack in their schedule, but I was still very happy with their responsiveness and professionalism. Dan has decades of experience in the business, and it shows. I have a sensible setup that will serve me well for decades, and will help me to reduce my carbon footprint. Highly recommended!

SBS installed a 5kw PV system on our house in April 2016. I originally contacted SBS because several friends had used them and all were completely satisfied. When I first contacted SBS by email, Dan returned my email within 24 hours to set up a time to come out to my house. When Dan visited my house he was professional, he listened to all my concerns and answered all my questions, we discussed several different options, and reached a conclusion about why type of system would work best for our location and my needs. Within a day, Dan sent a formal bid for the work, and within a couple more days we had a week scheduled for the work. The work was completed exactly on time and for the agreed upon cost. When Dan and his crew came to my house, Dan introduced me to his crew, who were also incredibly nice and thoughtful and careful in their work. Our system was fairly complex with PV panels on three different roof planes, and Dan and his crew were totally open to discussing with me various options for the installation that would meet their needs for efficiency and my needs for minimizing the visual impact of the panels and the connections among these three roof planes. After the installation, Dan and his wife Becky provided detailed directions and forms to have the system inspected and hooked up with the local utility. We ran into a small glitch with the inverter because I wanted to track the data and the manual that came with the inverter provided directions for directly linking my laptop to the inverter. But when I followed the directions the link didn't work. I contacted Dan about this problem and he immediately contacted tech support at the inverter company. It turns out the inverter company changed the circuit board so it was no longer possible to link a laptop directly to the inverter and the directions in the manual were incorrect. Dan made sure that I understood what I needed to do to access the data coming from our inverter (we simply access the data directly from the inverter company's website through our account). In summary SBS was fantastic to work with in every possible way.

Horse Ranch

SBS solar did an excellent job on the installation of the solar panels on the roof of my barn. I was especially pleased with the care taken to align the panels so they looked good from a distance. There was one miscalculation on use of the existing electric box but Dan was able to work through this with the electrician and keep the project priced as bid. I also liked the way they thought ahead for future panels and/or battery system. Since we had to did a ditch to the house anyway we through in an extra conduit for future expansion. The crew was thoughtful and professional and it was fun to see it all take place.

Quick response and quality planning and installation

Dan provided one of the more helpful home solar presentations at the 2015 Missoula alternative energy fair, and he was highly recommended by my brother-in-law. He responded almost immediately to my inquiry in late winter, and we were up and running by early spring with little delay time on his part. It's been nothing but easy for me.

When an issue with snow sliding off panels onto a sidewalk was identified, SBS Solar designed and installed a solution at no additional cost. Solar installation

Dan showed up on time and gave me several options. I had to wait several months for the installation until after my roof was replaced. They were timely and professional in their work. The system has been in place for 2 months and to date I've produced about 50 KWH more than I've used. July and Aug. are my highest energy use months because of irrigation, so I hope the system will just about zero out over the 12 months. I've recommended SBS Solar to several friends who are in the market.

Superb customer service in what could have difficult situations.

This review and comments pertain specifically to SBS Solar operated by Dan Brandberg in Hamilton, MT. The system was homeowner designed and installed; SBS was used primarily as a supplier of panels and the inverter technology. Due to problems with freight damage, it took three shipments to get all of our panels; 1/3 of the original shipment was damaged, and half of its replacement shipment. Dan did a great job of insuring we got what we should have. He also loaned me a crimp tool for installation. The inverter originally delivered was insufficient for our cold (-35F) environment, despite being the one recommended by the manufacturer's configuration software. While SBS's supplier was unwilling to exchange the inverter for the correct one, Dan agreed to take it back for use in some other installation where temperature would not be an issue. I would give him ten stars if I could. I almost ordered this equipment direct on-line; I am glad I did not, as I can only imagine the nightmare of trying to get it right in that situation.

Great Job

The owner, Dan Brandborg, was knowledgeable, efficient and easy to work with. The installation was done on time, to code and passed the first time with a tough inspector. The electrical work done by another contractor had to have several revisions, but that wasn't SBS work. My only concern is we discussed raising the panels to a steeper incline as my garage roof was a bit lower than optimal to obtain more solar energy. Dan, showed me, using standard calculations for various angles of solar panels, it was a fairly small gain for a significant increase in price. However, we didn't consider the fact that it would also help snow slide off, so for December I didn't have any generation to speak of. Had I to do it over, I probably would have paid to have the angle increased.
