Rising Sun Solar

If I could give zero stars I would. I’ve had ongoing issues with my newly installed $50k system since installation in the summer. The customer service is basically non existent with Rising sun and as other customers have said in their reviews, it is extremely difficult to get in touch with anyone in their office. They recently consolidated their operations in September and the customer service has gotten even worse since. There is no professionalism or accountability on their end and they basically take the money and run. I recommend any other company for your solar needs. This entire experience has been a nightmare. Considering contacting the Department of Commerce & Consumer affairs, HECO (who is partnered with Rising Sun for solar projects), and the BBB regarding my concerns.

I apologize this review is for the Big Island and since I can't get an acceptable response from them, I'll have to write my review on this site. Since May 2023, we have been paying on our solar loan, and we still have no solar panels. We signed the contract with Rising Sun in January 2023 with a planned installation of May/June 2023. It then slid to July/August 2023. It slid again to September 2023. Rising Sun has said the problem is scheduling. And it' sliding again. Our next step is to go to the attorney general and the BBB.

Rising Sun has installed inferior failing switch which failed in a few months, then failed to show for replacement after previous problems. I wrote , in error an unfavorable earlier review. I now retract it & advise all to seek another choice. I am a retired RN who helped Hawaii's babies & children by saving their lives & healing them, so am responsible, so you know I am not a flake. BEWARE & I WOULD NEVER CHOSE RS AGAIN! MARK RN, retired

Excellent job on the system. It works flawlessly. 45 to 50 kWh every day. Perfect. Technically the whole job was very professional. The employees could use a class in communications with customers. There is a definite attitude of don`t bother me, particularly after the system was installed. I also spent years in technical service for electronics companies and know how to treat customers. Their brochure says "Once your system has been inspected and approved, your Rising Sun consultant walks you through system operation and system monitoring." This was not done properly. I learned bits of information by asking the electrician questions but when the system was completed there was no "walk through". I asked for the manuals many times for the Sunpower system and was told we will get them to you. No manuals have yet arrived. Other than the above the Sunpower System instillation is perfect.

Rising Sun gave us samples of the tax forms we would need to get the rebates.

The only draw back or misunderstanding about the pvc system and solar water heaters is that prior to the installation of the solar system, the electric bill would range from over $ 100.00 to about $ 500.00 per month. Guess our thinking when we heard abut the solar system it would save us quite a bit of money on the electricity usage. Once the solar system was installed, we did not see the differences in usage or cost. They was problem where we had some trees that was affecting the solar panels to asborb the sun energy. We someone cut the trees and hopefully we going to see some improvement as well longer days.

After the work was paid for various phone calls and personnal vists to RS ofice were unresponsive.

I would have like to know more about maintenance of the inverter. Manual states the fan should be cleaned, but doesn`t say how often. A little background on the maintenance of the system would have been helpful.

Not sure of the size of the system. Done in 3 large sections. Rising Sun could not have been more professional. To the point where one of the systems was bid out larger than necessary and adjustments were made that I would not have been any the wiser. Hal Jobe

I had a difficult time understanding how to read my monthly bills. finally, I callled MECO and a person finally explained it to me so I could understand it. At first I was very disappointed with my in/out put.

Rising Sun has been very professional in all aspects of the sales and installation process for my PV system. I already have recommended them to 2 other interested parties.

I still own the home on Maui and recently moved to Australia where I`m paying about 14 cents per kw and diesel is $1.60 a liter! go figure! I`m 1000% convinced the system has increased the resale value of my home by at least the amount paid for the system. How could it not at $.45 a watt and rising! Just wait till fuel is $6.00+ per gallon.

No problems, timely installation.

They were very professional and very accessible. They even come by every so often to make sure the system is working properly. After any major wind storm, they check in with me to make sure everything is still functioning properly. Great customer service!!!!

Brad was very knowlegeable and helpful in explaining my options to give me the best system for my needs. Best overall experience especially when compared with other local vendors who weren`t nearly as knowledgeable and as easy to work with. I wanted to install PV system for years after seeing results in California and reading information from Real Goods Company but my state didn`t provide reasonable incentives until 2006 at which time I made my initial investment.

very professional. inspector for the local electric company took photos of the installation and said he was going to use them as examples of the correct way to install a p/v system.

I would recommend Risingsun solar to anyone because their work and professionalism exceeds our expectations completely. We noticed several people in the neighborhood who had systems installed by Risingsunsolar.
