Great Service, Customized System!

Puget Sound Solar is absolutely top-notch, from a patient and informative quoting process to super professional and high quality installation. We chose PSS on a neighbor's recommendation and were very pleased with their array of customizations. With the advent of micro-inverters, we learned that a solar system can be increased modularly, and this helped us identify our priorities and budget. Jeff quoted us a few different options, and we never felt was pushing us in any direction. We were left with a super functional system with room to grow in the future. The installation team was friendly, efficient, and considerate- and thanks to Puget Sound Solar's size, we actually got our system a full two months early when another comparable system for another customer had to be delayed. Now a few weeks into our new system, we feel educated, taken care of and just plain impressed with Puget Sound Solar. We'd recommend them without reservation.

Stellar service and team

We previously used Puget Sound Solar to install our electric car charger and they were prompt, efficient, and reasonable. Now they just finished installing a 46-panel solar array on the roof of our Seattle home, and we could not be happier with their entire team. Friendly, knowledgeable, and capable to a person. Thank you Puget Sound Solar!

Another happy residential solar customer!

We chose Puget Sound Solar for our residential solar installation. After gathering quotes from three different vendors in the area, we chose PSS for their competitive pricing, clear and understandable quoting; timeliness, and great communication. They were patient with me as I planned for this project for almost two years. Once we were ready to make a decision, they made the entire process extremely simple and were always quick to respond to any questions I had. The installation and electrician teams were quick, friendly, and did excellent work. I especially liked the electrician's attention to aesthetic detail when running the conduit along the side of our house! Also, huge props to Project Manager Clayton who was our main point of contact after signing a contract. He was always available to help us through the project and even got our project moved a week ahead of schedule, which is crucial when trying to take advantage of the long summer days in Seattle. Would HIGHLY recommend the Puget Sound Solar team for your residential or commercial solar install!

Good customer service!

My wife was running through a neighborhood in North Seattle while PSS was installing on a house. We had been interested for a while so I emailed the company. Jeff came out and explained everything to us in a way we could actually understand. Clayton was great as a a project manager. He was very responsive during the inspection phase. The guys that installed the panels were lightning fast! Think it took them on 6 hours or so. Overall I would recommend Puget Sound Solar to my friends and family.

Very professional and responsive!

Overall we had a great experience with Puget Sound Solar. It was easy to understand and compare their options for system size and equipment, they had an extremely professional crew, and minor issues were resolved quickly following the install. The issues we had included miswiring of the monitoring system, one faulty panel needing warranty replacement, and a panel whose finish didn't match the others. While they were annoying they were resolved quickly and we've been happily soaking up a few overcast, cloudy sky photons over the past few months.

Fantastic Experience!

Jeff and Bill were amazing to work with! The process was super smooth and they kep me fully informed along the way! They were competitively price and great value for the money!!! I would highly recommend you check them out for your solar project!

Thanks PSS

PSS was so great to work with on our project. We had a lot of questions about solar in general and they explained everything clearly. We were unsure about the different panel options, and they gave us quotes for a variety of different rated outputs, allowing us to choose the system specs we wanted. Very upfront and responsive to all of our emails! On installation day the crew worked around OUR schedule, taking a long lunch break to allow our 1-year old to nap. I have worked in construction for years and I did not expect the installers to be so understanding.

Outstanding support by a great team

I've been a Puget Sound Solar customer for ten years. Since I needed to have roof replaced, it was an opportunity to increase my solar production with a new, improved performance system. The project was well planned from the start, and PSS coordinated with roofer so that both projects were completed in a week. I also appreciate the financing available with Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union. A good deal all around!

Perfect service from day one through install!

So thrilled with WayneR, JeffP, and the whole PSS team! We just got our system fully turned on yesterday, and we are thrilled with their service every step of the way. We were referred to them through a friend who is also a customer, and from the beginning the team was transparent and clear about options and pros/cons about the economics, payback, value for price of different panel choices, etc. They also helped solve a challenge with getting our Tesla wall charger installed even though previously we’d been told we were too close for comfort on our overall electrical service without an upgrade. And it’s all 100% to code, they just looked more closely at the data. Super happy, and looking forward to decades of green power to come.

Another great PSS experience

Puget Sound Solar put in our first solar panel installation in 2010. At the time we were impressed with how good they were at explaining all the aspects (site assessment, choosing system/products, the incentive program etc). The same was true of the process — how and when installation would take place and how monitoring of the system would be handled. Things haven't changed! In 2019, we went to them to handle an upgrade and increase in the number of solar panels. Every step was handled just at competently as it was nine years ago.

Great Solar Installation Experience

Puget Sound Solar was recommended by two friends who had used them in the past. We were impressed by the integrity of all the people we dealt with. They worked hard to get the installation done in time for us to take advantage of the 18 cent per KWH state incentive. There were some minor glitches but we always had confidence that they would take care of them. The communication with the sales, project management, and the installation people couldn't have been better. We would certainly recommend them.

Puget Sound Solar is top of the line

I looked extensively for solar installers in the Seattle area. These guys are wonderful. Their quote covers end-to-end project work, they provided me with numerous options from well regarded brands, they went the extra mile by providing extended warranties, they finished ahead of schedule, and they keep in constant touch during the entire process. I can't say enough good things about them.

Great Job Installing in a unique location

They did a great job installing my system as a pole mounted system in the only place on my property with an open sky. The system works great and has been spinning the meter backwards on sunny days. They coordinated the installation with my contractor to get the poles and trenching installed, and handled all the permit and inspection process on Bainbridge Island. After the installation was complete, they met with me on a weekend to go over the operation and maintenance of the system. They made sure it was connected to the internet so they could monitor it, and also allow me to monitor its operation in real time.

Puget Sound Solar.....a Great Company with a Quality Product

Puget Sound Solar was referred to me by a satisfied customer and friend. From sales through after installation support, all staff were knowledgeable, professional, and extremely courteous. Daily cleanup was thorough. The team was organized and enjoyed working with each other. It was my pleasure to provide homebaked snacks. Project director, David Locke, was the glue that kept the process moving smoothly. He responded quickly to questions and I became more knowledgeable about solar power. I'm glad I bought the SunPower model, with the black on black appearance to match the roof. It also had the best warranty. It was the priciest, but I think you get what you pay for! Because it is known to produce very efficient energy, I'll recoup my investment in good time. The wait for the new meter by City Light took a month. In the meantime, the project director completed the few punch list items. He also taught me how to monitor the amount of solar energy produced and used compared to energy used from the grid. I'm amazed at the amount of solar energy produced even on cloudy days. The decision to install solar panels has been one of the best decisions made for this home.

Large Home Photovoltaic System Installation

We installed a large 14.56 Photovoltaic System in two groups of panels, one at 32 panels, and one at 32 panels. The personnel a Puget Sound Solar were exceptional, and their service levels were outstanding.

My home’s solar installation

In early 2015 I decided to investigate installing solar panels on my 1913 home is Seattle. I had heard about Washington State’s incentives and that prices had fallen. What I found was that the federal and state incentives were very generous and that a local credit union would finance the project 100% on decent terms. With this in mind I contacted three local vendors and asked for proposals. The best price came from Puget Sound Solar and they turned out to be a great choice! Not only did they stand by their bid but actually took off $300 because a part they had thought would be needed to upgrade my electrical panel was not needed. One of the tests of a company is how it handles problems. PSS passed this test in my case. As you can imagine they are very busy and at one point PSS indicated my project’s installation schedule might slip three weeks. I indicated my disappointment, they worked the problem and began installing my panels just one day later than their initial projection. After installation my monitoring device failed. PSS came out that day, replaced it and no data was lost.

Very Satisfied

PSS was great before, during, and after the sale. I'm an engineer and had a fairly complicated desire for both roof racked and ballasted arrays using microinverters and an eGuage load monitoring system. PSS modeled more than a dozen variants with different panels, inverters, and sizes before I settled on one. They were also very transparent about every aspect of the job, including pricing, efficiency, power potential, technical and installation details, etc. The installers were very professional and conscientious. After the install, I found a couple of mechanical issues with the panels and racks that they promptly corrected. It also took some time to get the eGuage and microinverters networked reliably and configured properly (in part because I accidentally mis-configured the eGauge) but PSS was patient with my questions/meddling and did everything necessary to ensure my satisfaction.

Great experience with pre and post sales

The process was rather lengthy, but in the end I got my solar panel and I'm happy. I contacted PSS in July and within a week I was able to get some basic info from Michael Rehder and we scheduled a site visit. Michael was awesome to work with. We spent about 90 min and he taught me a lot about solar, explaining the bid and giving me my options. I didn't feel like he was pushing any one option vs another and there were some big tradeoffs. 1) Number of panels to instal (I had a choice) 2) Manufacturer of pannels / efficiency of panels 3) rebate incentives All these variables impacted cost, and payoff timeframe. It was all graphed out and explained clearly. In the end I went with the less efficient Washington Panels (285W vs 345W) as the incentives were much greater and this meant a payback timeframe of 6 years (to break even) vs 11-13 years. However, right as I was getting panels installed, Seattle City Light announced they were going to restrict the incentive by 30% next year as a result of too many people getting solar and the funding being exhausted. Still, even with this I will come out ahead of the out of state panels. Once we locked on my options, I signed the contract and handed over a deposit and got on the schedule 6 weeks later. 6 weeks turned more into 10 weeks as my date moved out. Of all the issues I had my only complaint was that communication about this was not clear. I didn't get a call and no one explained to me why my date moved out from Sep to October. Anyway, minor issue considering the cost and job that was going to be done. A few weeks before my install date I met with Jacob Hanson. He inspected the site, and we talked bout options for conduit and such. We also went over final details and the start date, length of install and then what was needed to get permitted and turned on. It turns out, as a result of the kind of meter I had (electronic, but old generation, does not spin backwards) once the system was installed and permitted I could not go forward till I got a new meter. This process was also a bit bumpy as the Seattle City Light screwed up my paperwork and was waiting for me to do something that I had already done. This took a few calls and Jacob stepped in and helped expedite things. All in all, I'd say the following: 1. Communications 9/10. 2. Professionalism 10/10. 3. Installers 10/10. There is a lot of paper work and I feel that PSS did a good job, but I had to double check things to make sure it was all correct. Once they included the wrong info on one packet. Corrected quickly. Once some of the paperwork was incorrect (they listed the wrong inverters). And once a page that I needed to sign was not highlighted and I missed signing it (but also wasn't being detail oriented at the time). Anyway, the point is, getting Solar isn't a sit back and everything happens perfectly. You are dealing with a contractor, the state, the city and your house. Things happen. You need to be an active participant. As part of the install we opted for the eGauge which gives us real time info on energy usage and consumption. It's incredible. You can see what is going on in your house. It costs and extra few hundred dollars but it's well worth it. I would go for this and think it's a must have. I'm very happy with the results. In the month of November, with the system running for 2 weeks we have generated 119 kWh and used 665 kWh. So solar cuts back energy usage by 18%. Not bad. There is really no reason to not get solar at this point. With a 6 year payback and then another 20 years of life on the panels and roof the system will be generating cash for a long time.

Nice people, friendly, professional without being stiff. Especially appreciated the original on-site inspection, to see what would and wouldn`t work at my site. Easy to understand. Typo in this sentence: Do this project work has increased the value of your building ? And in this one: Did your contractor manage securing a building permit for you ? Re Incentives -- they provided the form for me to fill out and submit, which was excellent customer service.

Brian Geppert | 07/19/2009

It would be helpful if their distributor of Sharp panels would provide flash-test information so that the panels could be arranged into strings that maximize the efficiency. It is most likely that my system could perform better if the panels were re-arranged.

On a solar energy tour, we talked with several people who had used this company. None of them was given as a reference by the company. They all were quite pleased with the products and the service. Also, Puget Sound Solar arranged all the necessary permits and inspections and provided all the official paperwork that we needed to fill out.

We installed solar hot water as well. Our inverter suffered infant mortality and they replaced it promptly. We contemplated someday installing solar, but didn`t seriously pursue it until after talking with friends who had a hot water system installed by Puget Sound Solar. We might not have installed PV without the incentives, but would have had the hot water system installed regardless.

We thought we were getting a passive solar system and were a bit disappointed to learn that it uses an electric pump. But the installers were great and the job was beautifully done. We have been saving for this since we first learned about solar in the early 1970s, but wanted to fully insulate our house first, and build up enough savings.

Concerns about fossil fuel, environemental stewardship, and federal incentives combined to make this the right decision.

We had a number of challenges with the City of Seattle to get the final parts in place, but that was of no fault of Puget Sound Solar.

I`d absolutely recommend Puget Sound Solar to anyone who is thinking about alternative energy upgrades. Jeremy and Co. are fantastic, knowledgeable, and thorough. I`d hire them again for my upcoming PV project. we need more incentives for lower income households. We can afford it, but not everyone else can.

Our experience with Puget Sound Solar was probably the best we have had with any contracted work on any home we have owned. The pre-installation consultation resulted in a system designed precisely for our needs at a highly competitive price and the installation was very high quality. These people have to be recognized as the most knowledgeable Solar PV business in our area--the owners Pam and Jeremy are totally committed to Solar technology as a primary occupation, their technical evaluator has a college degree related to solar energy, during the electrical inspection the government electrical inspector invited the Puget Sound Solar electrician to speak at a meeting of the local electrical organization about the technical aspects of solar PV systems, and the Puget Sound Solar panel installer has a Master`s Degree in Physics. These people are not casually involved in the solar business as an extension of some other related business. Solar PV won`t take off with the mainstream of my neighbors until solar panel efficiency increases and the payback/amortization reaches something near 7-10 years. Federal and Washington State incentives and rebates were vitally important for making this affordable for our particular residential installation. We plan to upgrade annually as solar PV technology improves.

This survey is broken. What if it doesn`t apply to me, I still only get a yes/no choice?? You need an N/A option on this second page of questions, too. Right now it looks like my contractor didn`t do some things, but I had to say no because the question didn`t apply to me.

Byron Rakitzis | 03/25/2007

Jeremy and Pam are very responsive to questions over the phone, and helped me through all the quirks of the system. They replaced a faulty wand heat exchanger promptly. Jeremy knows a great deal about the engineering of solar PV and solar hot water, he is incredibly resourceful. It was a great pleasure to have Puget Sound Solar do this installation!
