Positive Solar HVAC – Alex After years of dealing with ongoing HVAC issues, Alex with Positive Solar finally diagnosed and fixed the problem that another company failed to identify over the course of 9 service visits. In 2021, we paid $6,290 for a brand-new 5-ton HVAC system after our 20-year-old unit died. From the beginning, the new system struggled. Every summer, the unit would freeze up, run constantly, and have trouble cooling the house properly. We repeatedly had to shut the system off and let it thaw just to get it working again. Over the next several years, the original company came out a total of 9 times related to these issues. We were charged for some visits and repeatedly given different explanations while the problems continued. Possible issues causing the problem included: * thermostat wiring issues, a relay sticking on the control board, a bad thermal expansion valve, an outdated thermostat, merv 4 filters are too restrictive In 2025, we were told the system had an undersized trunk line so we paid an additional $1,775 for attic ductwork modifications that supposedly would fix the problem. Looking back, these are things that should have been addressed during the original installation and diagnosis process. Unfortunately, the issues never stopped. The unit ran constantly, became extremely loud, and we genuinely worried we were going to lose a system that was only a few years old. We were even told at one point that we “just can’t keep the house below 70 degrees” because it was too hard on the unit — despite living in Snowflake, AZ, where summer temperatures are nowhere near extreme desert heat. During the summers, the unit was freezing up trying to keep the house at 73 degrees. By summer 2026, we were completely frustrated and decided to call Positive Solar after hearing they expanded into HVAC services. Alex diagnosed the issue within minutes. And verified the issue with a simple tool. He found that our 5-ton system had been installed with only a single 18-inch flex return duct, which was far too small for the airflow the system requires. He measured the system at approximately 1250 CFM, while a 5-ton unit typically requires around 1800–2000 CFM to operate correctly. According to Alex, the system was essentially being starved for air from the beginning. To correct the issue, Positive Solar installed: two additional 10x10” return air vents, upgraded the 18” return to a 20x25” rigid return box, additional flexible ducting, and properly sealed duct connections. Alex also found and repaired poorly sealed attic ductwork from the previous company where conditioned air had literally been leaking into the attic because connections had not been properly sealed. (Pictures provided) After years of stress, repeated service calls, sleepless nights listening to the unit struggle, and thousands of additional dollars spent trying to fix the issue, it was incredibly refreshing to work with someone who immediately recognized the real problem and explained everything clearly. I had a large residential solar system installed, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. The installation was quick, super clean, and very reasonably priced. Positive Solar even helped with a few small design tweaks to make the panels look symmetrical and sharp. Now I run a credit with APS—even with a big lawn and over a hundred trees being watered from my well. These guys are local, and they invest heavily in the White Mountain communities, especially in supporting youth programs. I believe in supporting local companies that give back. So if an out-of-town solar salesman shows up, just let them know—we’ve got solar covered right here at home.

I've had nothing but great experiences with this company. I'm small potatoes compared to the rest of their customers, but they always take time to answer my questions and get the components I need together for me in super quick order. I've been to all the solar places in the area and they all act like they don't have time for someone living in a van. These guys are very welcoming and every piece of advice I've gotten from them has either helped me improve my system or make my system safer.

It's so beautiful! (wipes away single tear) Positive Solar LLC came through for us in a huge way with this solar panel system. It is going to make a huge difference for us! There was one problem after another with our land, a dented pole, supply shortage, trouble with our electricity set-up being up to code and installed correctly, issues with the electric company, etc etc; none of which were their fault. They worked through and solved every problem. It was a huge pain in the butt for them to get this beauty up and running, but they graciously overcame each problem and found the best solution for us. Our system will put out more than we use AND our solar loan payment will be way less than we have ever paid for electricity since we have lived in this house. They work all over Arizona. They sell, install, and service all themselves while many solar companies hire out the actual install and service. That means they know what is going on with your system at all times. They guarantee their work and they finance! I have been so impressed with their customer service and willingness to advocate for the customer. One morning last week there were 7 Positive Solar guys out here to meet with me and the electric company. I seriously cannot say enough good. I super appreciate how far above and beyond they went for us.
