Live Wire Solar & Electric

Live Wire did the electrical work on my kitchen renovation and they were very professional. All work was done timely and they explained things as needed. I was very pleased with the work of Blake and Mason.

Our rep, Mark, is much more than just a partner with us (see our story toward the end). In fact, all of our Live Wire guys have been professional, trustworthy and genuinely concerned about us. We always get excellent emails and call-returns that fully explain every question we have – EXCELLENT costumer service! And we were skeptical about green energy to begin with, but Mark walked us thru every aspect of solar energy without any sales pressure whatsoever. (Our story) – I know this isn’t typical at all, but during the height of the supply chain crunch, Mark even sold us the panels he was intending to put on his house that were acquired earlier. Talk about “above and beyond.” This alone speaks volumes about the Live Wire Company.

Tim and his crew are very good! Took care of our whole home electrical project which included running wires and final install of electrical light fixtures! Made sure everything was done as we requested and even recommended items we should do that we didn’t think of! Great service! Highly recommend!

I typically don’t write review, but I have to let people know what I have been going through with this company. I didn’t receive a rebate this year so I decided to dig into what was going on. I emailed Xcel energy awhile back and was told I was not producing since December of last. Within a couple days a technician showed up at my house, without me knowing. The technician talked to my son and gave me a couple numbers to call. Remember I never called this company or was aware they were even coming to my house. I called the 1st number and the guy told me the service manager would be calling me back. His name is Ben, he said there could be a couple things wrong and wanted to set up something when I’m home or they could diagnose the problem if I plugged in a computer wire. I’m not computer guy so I have no idea of what needs to plugged in, so probably would be best if they come when something is planned. Next couple days I get a text from service manager that half my panels were working. They still need to come out when we’re home to diagnose it further. Without notice or any communication, my doorbell camera notified me someone was at my house. I looked at the pictures and it was 2 guys putting a ladder on house and they are climbing onto my roof. 1 guy has a hoodie on and neither are in company vehicles. Never rang my doorbell, just put the ladder up .I have kids that are home during the day, fortunately they were not there this particular day. Panicked, I call my wife. She didn’t know anything. I had to call my boss and leave work to go home and find out who this is or what they are doing. As I’m driving it hits me, maybe the solar company, that by the way I still have no idea what the name of there company is, because I have never talked to them or requested service from them. They have only talked to my kid. I called and talked to Ben, the service manager, he told me that they shouldn’t be there because they were supposed to be in another city, but maybe could be them. I told him to check it out and get back to me. He called me back and said it was his guys, I told Ben this is very unprofessional and I should be notified that they were coming so something like this wouldn’t happen. I continued to go home. When I got out of my truck, I asked the young worker if it was a good idea to not ring my doorbell and he would terrify my kids if they were home. He responded by saying that he wasn’t in my house. Apparently, it’s ok to show up at someone’s house unannounced and go on their roof. I just found out they turned 2 of my switches off. It doesn’t end here, I called again and talked to the salesman. He said they were not going to work on my system because I threatened the worker. In no way would I threaten the worker. I explained to the worker he is lucky it was me and not someone who would fight him or even worse shoot him. The young worker kept saying he wasn’t in my home and didn’t understand, but kept apologizing to me. I told the young kid to leave and I would talk to his boss. I called the boss again, first he apologized for not communicating with me that they were even coming to my house. If you think of using this company have a talk with the owner Troy. A real piece of work. No customer skills. I still have no idea if I can turn my panels on or not. If it’s safe or not. Please use some other company. A real amateur crew with zero communication.

Knowledgable and not pushy

Picking an installer for my solar project was a challenging process. Live Wire Solar was the only company that a) answered my questions, b) had a sales person who was actually knowledgeable about solar installations, and c) wasn't hyper aggressive, abusive, or pushy with their sales tactics (seriously the rest of the industry needs to get up on that, the number of outright abusive sales people I came across in the process was too high). I appreciated that. Its ultimately why they were selected and why I would chose them again if I ever had to do this again. Ultimately they came up with a well designed system that appears to have been optimized to find the best value for money. The installation process was professional, clean, and well done. There were a couple of issues with the process that I did not like. E.g. I would have liked regular updates on the progress, even if the update was no change yet. I had to reach out multiple times and felt like I was being forgotten about. This ultimately worked out in my favor in the long run because we ended up unexpectedly needing a roof replacement. So while it took longer than originally quoted to get the system up, it worked out well. Worker shortages during the summer seem to have played a role in the process taking longer than expected. I don't know that I can fault them for that given that everyone was having that kind of problem. All said, I would go with them again if I needed this done in the future. Their sales process by itself was enough for that. Having someone who actually knows the systems being installed in the initial process was invaluable. I hope they keep doing that.

Excellent job by Mark and Ben

Mark and Ben’s team did an excellent job on the solar installation at our home late 2019 and early 2020. We have been super happy with their professionalism and how they have explained all options to us on our journey. I would recommend the live wire guys to any body that is looking at Solar.

Great System and Service!!

Mark, Ben and crew provided great service. My system went in very quickly and was up and running once my local coop completed service on their end. Live Wire worked closely with my local utility. I can't say enough about how well they communicated with me and with my utility. We had a very early and snowy Winter (with ice) so my panels developed a crust of ice...so unfortunately I had no production. I now have a special broom I will use next Winter! However, post snowmelt my system has been producing as promised. For the months of April, May and June my system is averaging ~1Mwh a month and nearly .5 Mwh for March when the panels were still partially covered for part of the month I am very pleased with my panels and the SolarEdge app which allows me to monitor production instanteously, daily, monthly or lifetime of the system. I enjoyed working with Mark and Ben who answered all my questions in a timely fashion with either an email or phone call. I highly recommend Live Wire!--Deb Q.

Livewire accommodated my specific project needs

I initially got several quotes through EnergySage. It was obvious that Mark put more effort into the quote than other providers and I appreciated that. After discussing my specific situation with Mark, Livewire was able to meet my specific project needs. We made some equipment changes and incorporated a bunch of other electrical work necessary for my future plans. Livewire maintained good contact throughout the project and were very transparent about solar and electrical costs. I've recommended them several times and they would be my first choice for future electrical and solar work. They were a pleasure to work with and I wish all my contractor relationships went this smoothly !

Great Experience

The experience I had with Live Wire was great from the get go. Mark came out to my house and gave me a thorough explanation of what was going to happen and what to expect from my system. Mark had all the information with him as far as tax credits, rebates and the money I could expect to save on electricity. The installers and project manager were efficient and pleasant.

Friendly, knowledgeable - terrific company to work with!

Mark, Ben, Micah and the rest of the Live Wire team were absolutely fantastic! We really wanted North American solar panels which, at the time (mid-2019), quite a bit difficult to source. Mark patiently reached out to a number of different suppliers and was able to secure a large number of Silfab panels. Live Wire takes care of all the permits and Solar Rewards application process with Xcel Energy. Our system had a total of 13kWp with the panels covering our entire south-facing roof. The installation team was very friendly and knew their craft. Installation itself went very smoothly - all professionally done. We really enjoyed working with Live Wire and actually recommended them to another friend of ours who also ended up getting a system installed. We would work with Live Wire again in a heartbeat and will continue to recommend their team to those who are looking to make the jump to solar!

Customer Service Professionals

I had several options to pick from when choosing a solar installer. A friend recommended that I check out Live Wire. The local utility guy also identified them as a reputable company that works in the area. I thought I’d give them a try. I emailed them and within hours had a reply. I had only a little experience with solar panels and had many, many questions. I was always provided answers and always sooner than expected. Living a couple hours away made email and phone calls critical. They were flexible and responsive. They managed to make it up here a couple times to provide me the best quote on what system would be best suited for my home. I decided to work with them. They worked with our power company and filled out all the applications and that made the process efficient and worry-free. They showed up on time, were easy to work with and knew their work. Top-notch customer service was found throughout, something that is critical to me. I was happy with their service and have recommended them to friends. I would work with them again.

Everything I expected

I received two comparable solar bids and chose Live Wire because their modules were smaller and fit the rooftop surface area I had to work with better even though each module generated as much energy as the larger ones from the other bidding company.
