Cost effective and extremely helpful
Their low pressure sales combined with easy to understand numbers made the choice easy for us. We've been super happy with our solar production and would definitely recommend Ecotech. I understand previous negative reviews were different management.

Updated Review
UPDATE 9/30/25

The president of Ecotech reached out to me after reading our original review, and I have been really impressed with his response. It sounds like the company has undergone some leadership changes over this last year, and the staff has been exceptionally proactive in coming up with a plan to address the issues we have had. Ecotech was onsite two days after the initial conversation with the president with new hardware that they spent a day installing on their own dime to solve the remote monitoring issue. Ecotech also proposed an equitable way to reimburse us for our losses during the LG monitoring failure.

I can't speak highly enough about the way this bad experience has been handled. There really was no back and forth - Ecotech just owned the problems right out of the gate and proposed a fair resolution. I can probably count on one hand the times a company has turned a sour experience into a positive one in my life - this is certainly one of them. Thank you Chris and Rufus.
-----------------------
- We have been disappointed with our experience with Ecotech. Ecotech sold us an LG 30 panel array in 2021 and pushed the brand as a top-tier, too-big-to-fail option. LG then pulled out of the solar market about 6 months after our installation. Ecotech never reached out to us to explain the situation - how LG’s decision would affect our warranty, replacement options, remote monitoring, etc. We found out that LG had closed their solar sector only after we noticed a shattered panel in our array and contacted Ecotech for help at that time. Ecotech determined themselves not responsible for the panel damage, which left us ineligible to receive an LG replacement panel - since closing shop, LG will only offer what remaining panels they have in stock to warranty claims. We then had to pay Ecotech to replace the damaged LG panel with an off-brand and less efficient panel that would fit the footprint of the array they had installed less than a year prior to the event. I’m still not convinced that Ecotech did not cause the damage upon installation, but this is beside the point. This experience left us feeling like Ecotech had washed their hands of their customer as soon as they had completed the installation. Ecotech took no steps to proactively ease the shock caused by LG’s business decision and then distanced themselves from the product once we had our first issue with the array - again, a product that had been heavily pushed during the sales pitch.

Our second issue led us to write this review. Last month, we noticed a spike in our electric bill. We realized that a cluster of solar breakers had been inadvertently flipped in our garage a little less than two months before the spike. One of our family members had most likely brushed by them by mistake, which caused us to lose 60% of our solar generation during peak summer months. Ecotech had told us during the sales-pitch that their company remotely monitored their installations to red flag behavior indicative of panel issues. Whatever remote monitoring Ecotech employs did not register a 60% drop in production, which ended up losing us about $200 to PSE. LG also stopped maintaining their remote monitoring iPhone app, so we have been relying on watching our PSE bills to keep an eye on the health of our array - so, at best, we will be a month behind in generation after catching a problem. We reached out to LG for computer access to their solar monitoring (instead of the phone app) and never heard back from them. We then reluctantly reached out to Ecotech again by telephone and received a text message response from them later that day confirming that LG had stopped updating their iPhone app and to log into LG’s computer interface - the same one that LG never acknowledged. No call back, no assistance as we navigate LG’s withering solar support, no explanation regarding Ecotech’s failed red flag monitoring… just the text.

All this to say that we can’t help but feel hung out to dry by this company. Their sales team painted a rosy picture of a customer/company team working together to help the environment. Their pitch was filled with promises that have proven to be empty, and this team-spirit ended the day Ecotech finished installation.

For those toying with going solar, please understand that Ecotech is only a contractor (‘Contractor’ is in fact capitalized in their contract). Their sales pitch makes the transaction feel like you are buying an Ecotech product and are joining the Ecotech family. In reality, their job ends once they have installed whatever company’s panels they have chosen to push at that time. They do not monitor their systems, they do not fight for their customers, and they do not stand behind the products they install. Bellingham has several local and reputable installers - please learn from our experiences and get them all to bid your job.

Simply the Best
Working with Ecotech has been hands-down one of the best experiences I've had working with a business. We had a 35 panel, 13.125kW system installed on our home. We spent months working with five solar installers designing, bidding and comparing systems. Without question Ecotech had the highest value equipment and a designer/engineer who reall took his time answering our million questions and educating us during the process. The front office staff were friendly, hilarious and such a pleasure to work with. The install team was similarly friendly, professional and effecient. Took them less than two days to install 35 panels in a manner that is unobtrusive, clean and at least to my eye, flawless (including the routing through our attic space). This was a big investment for our family and we couldn't be happier with the final system that Ecotech designed and installed for us. Thank you Team Ecotech. - The Middlebrooks Family -

Positive experience
I had a positive experience with using ecotech solar. They installed a 6.6kw LG system on my house in Ferndale. I had several other quotes, but narrowed it down to the two local companies. What pushed ecotech over the edge was the significant price difference where I felt I was getting same system and quality of work for $4k less.

Ecotech was fantastic
We looked into three solar companies and are so glad we decided to go with Ecotech. They were so knowledgeable, professional, friendly and easy to work with. Ecotech also worked well with our roofing company to get the parts for the panels put on before our metal roof and then coordinating to come back soon after our roof was completed to add the actual panels which look amazing!

Ecotech was excellent!
We had heard that Ecotech was the best installer in our area, and they did not disappoint. Everyone on the team, from the administration to the crew on the roof, was top notch. Communication before, during and after the project was great, and everyone was super helpful and friendly. We can't recommend them highly enough.

First Class Solar Company
Ecotech is the kind of contractor you wish every company was like; with a very professional, competent, helpful staff that you can have confidence in; that uses the latest top quality materials and equipment for reliability and longevity; that insists on safety, efficient installation techniques and procedures. The Ecotech staff first met with us to determine the best, most cost effective system to install. Once we signed up, they coordinated with us, the City inspector, the utility company, and the WA State incentive program staff to assure that our system worked perfectly and received all necessary approvals. Work of the installation crew was precise and no return visits have been necessary. Now we are producing electricity for ourselves with any excess sent to the power grid, and are very satisfied with the results. We recommend Ecotech to anyone ready to make the solar power commitment.
I highly recommend EcoTech! | 02/28/2019
We were so glad to be working with EcoTech.
From the beginning conversation with Ty, through installation and then a follow-up with Ty, the EcoTech team was professional, knowledgeable, and so easy to work with. The installers worked extra hard to get our system installed and inspected before the January cutoff so we would be eligible for the state incentive program; we had not been scheduled for installation until February and the installers made it happen. Everyone I communicated with at Ecotech responded super fast to answer my questions. They made it all go smoothly by anticipating anything we needed. Ty helped us find a low interest loan, he walked us through the timeline for the project, and he returned after the installation to give us a tour of our meters so that we could understand our solar production. We are very excited to have gone solar and totally appreciate the opportunity to work with this fine local company.

New Residential Solar Panel Installation
Ecotech did a great job from the first contact to the completion of the solar panel installation and final overview of the system.
They were well informed, courteous and timely.
I am excited to track the performance of the new panels!

They are awesome!
They installed 38 Itek panels with 2 Sunny Boy inverters in Anacortes Washington, USA. Love this company, from design with Ty, to installation with a bunch of their great guys, it was a very positive experience. Would definitely recommend.
