Salesman lied re: rebate. Were in WV

Brian Rodgers I believe was the salesperson 2/6/2021, he lied about our tax rebate, when attempting to speak to someone in 2022, basically it was our problem and no one returned our call...Be careful with salesperson ..The sale is ALL they r concerned about after signage you are on your own. My signed forms was electronic and they r gone and I cannot download

Not sunny

So they had very little communication when I finally did get ahold of somebody and got a date to install, it was Nine months later. Then you know, common sense would say, if I drilled a hole in the wrong place, I would fix it and move on.No, they left that s*** open.So the first time it rained, I had a leak. Then, while they were installing, they broke one and then it took another. I don't know six months or so before they finally got the new one installed. They also were running a special where you got a like an incentive check for 2022, the year i signed to buy them and here it is 2024, and I still don't have the d*** check. And after all that when I tried to cancel them prior to the installation, they literally would not let me.

it sucks

after 4 yrs. of having solar panel you would think that you would see a drop in power bill nope it almost the same as my solar payment. and those sucks.

Install of Solar system went well, installers were polite and got the job done quick. Edit, One year later and the install isn't complete. One of the installers come back and installed a bidirectional meter base, the company hasn't yet paid the local electric company the fee to install the bidirectional meter. On the app it shows with the amount of panels installed I'm still over 50% grid dependent. After multiple calls and emails we still haven't gotten any conclusion. Now the company is closed, no one will answer calls or emails. Do not recommend anyone use this company, they are crooks. the finance company Enfin is also in business with them and will not help with the situation.

Horrible company

This has been the worst experience I have ever had dealing with any company. They lie, lie, and continue to lie. My panels are up but not operational. No savings on power. No rebate as promised. Credit is ruined because who can afford a solar loan payment along with a normal power bill? You can’t even get anyone to call you back and now the company is “open” July 2024 but the phone number is disconnected.

Will not save a dime

$120,000- and it is still costing me money. Will not return calls or emails. Pretty sure they are out of business. And my monthly electric bill is higher every month instead of lower, even though I produce more energy than I consume.

2.5 years later, I still don't have a system that will pass inspection and Design 1 will not even return a phone call for the last year. They have twice installed an inverter not big enough for this system, and they keep burning out (7.8 and 8.6KW inverters on a 12KW system)

Scam

The sales guy lied the calculation they show you on your usage is off they over charge you for what you do get. The phones are never answered. No call backs waited 2 years for my panels to be hooked up. They saved me a wapping $20 a month. I pay over $168 just for the panels and the same power bill I did before. My full attic incapcilation is still no doneget call backs.

biggest mistake ever

My nightmare with Dig 1 solar started a little over 2 years ago. To start off it was very difficult for me to get an appointment to get this solar system installed in my home. Once that was finally scheduled they showed up two days late without any notification or explanation. I had to make numerous phone calls to find out where they were? After they finally arrived on the first day one of installers decided to take the company truck and go driving it through my backyard and over and through my septic system and then got it stuck ! They had to leave the truck overnight where the next day I was able to pull it out with my personal vehicle... After 2 days of approximately 12 hours each day the system did not work..! They had to send out a couple other cruise to troubleshoot and figure out what the problem was which they eventually were able to do and get the system up and running finally. This has been a long nightmare that just won't stop apparently. I still have a large hole in the drywall in my master bedroom that they had to cut open to run some wires to my basement that is still wide open not repaired as promised. I now have discovered another problem that is very serious after a heavy rain a couple weeks ago and then melting snow on my roof I realized that gallons of water is pouring through my roof from where they mounted the solar panels it is leaking through my roof causing God knows what kind of problems inside my roof now !! I have made dozens of phone calls over the last week trying to get a hold of them using every phone number I have and every single phone number now says phones have been temporarily disconnected ??? So I don't know if they are even in business now and after seeing how they treat their customers that would not surprise me in the least. I am 61 years old and have dealt with countless different companies throughout my lifetime and I can say easily that this is the worst company I have ever had to deal with in my life. They are always very pleasant on the phone and sound very nice and sound like they really want to help you and get this problem resolved, but it just never happens as I am finding out over 2 years later ! I would strongly urge anyone thinking about getting a solar system for their home look elsewhere for a more reputable company !! After 2 years I am also still waiting to get the "nest" thermostat that goes with the system and Works hand in hand with it and I'm still waiting for my 22 energy efficient light bulbs that they promised, and again just never seems to materialize? I'm very disappointed and feel like I have been suckered, these systems are not cheap mine cost me roughly $30,000 and I'm not feeling good about this at all nor the treatment I have gotten from this company. They claim that they monitor the system along with your power consumption and how much power you are using and how much you are putting back on the grid.. I know for absolute certain they have not monitored my system for well over a year and a half if not longer ! I hope this helps save someone else the trouble and frustration that I have had to go through dealing with this company and now with water pouring in my roof causing unknown amounts of damage as we speak.

Horrid experience

It started out so well. Got my install in a timely manner. It's been all down hill since then. Now it's been almost a year and we are still not clear to operate. I'm disappointed.

They are a great group of people. Worked with us closely and answered all our questions and explained everything really well. The guys that came and did our installation were very good at thier job and very nice and polite. They had our installation done in a day. When they showed up it was raining and they went right to work as soon as it let up and didn't stop until the job was done. After it was done they went over the system with me and answered any questions I had. Really pleased with them.

Dealing with Design 1 has been frustrating at best. The contractors that have completed work at the house have been great. The staff at the design 1 office have been little to no help. When I call for updates (why am I the one calling for updates?) 4 out of 5 times I am told that they do not know and will call me back and do not call back. I have had multiple neighbors start a solar project after I did and I recommended them all to deal with anyone but Design1. If the company is this unorganized during install I am concerned about any issues afterwards. Here is my timeline for anyone considering this company: 2022 February- I signed the contract with Design 1 and was told install would be late April or early May May- The roofers installed the roof May 29th- The first monthly payment was due June 28th- Solar panels were installed July 13th - After I called AEP Design1 submitted the application to install panels August 10th- Design 1 Installed a meter that was forgotten in June August 24th- AEP still hasn’t received a correct application for solar install. No one knows when I will actually be able to use the panels on my house. To be continued February 2023 - Still not connected to the grid with no completion date scheduled

System doesn’t work

Power went out, during the day and nothing worked, not even LED lights. I’ve called customer service multiple times to get the installers certification done and sent to Alabama power and it’s still not done. The system has been installed for 3 months, it hasn’t lowered my power bill at all and apparently it doesn’t work either.

I was super excited to talk solar power and panels with Zach Dillion. He was very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable about the project and you could see and hear the passion he had for solar energy. His presentation was enjoyable along with educational and he helped us make better, more informed choices. Zach made it easy to see our savings we would have with solar based on our information. Once he heard that we were also trying to get a new roof installed, he gave us information on his company's bundle for roofs and panels to try and save us money! He even said the company would contract out my brother to do the roof job, which was super nice. We had fun hosting him in our mess of a house since we are going through renovations right now! Our dogs and cats even loved the guy lol. The company is very professional and willing to work with you, they only ask for patience

Design One did a great job with my solar installation. The conservation package and solar panels has significantly reduced my energy bill. Jeff did a great job with his presentation and explaining the solar panels and process of installation. But everyone needs to do their own research to be able to make a informed decision it is a long process and a learning curve in doing what you need to do as a home owner in reducing your energy usage also. For me after 7 months I love my solar panels and look forward to seeing the savings down the road because we all know that will only continue to go up. Bobby gave a great no pressure presentation. He made me feel very comfortable. I loved the idea and decided to move forward. There have been a few bumps in the road, but they have resolved the issues in a timely manner. I got 14 panels, hot water heater, smart thermostat, and an attic upgrade. They just finished installing my solar panels and they look great! Super excited to start saving money. Thanks Bobby, Shannon, and Joe. Can't wait to meet the attic guys. 😆 They ain't going to be happy with the hole they have to crawl up in though. Ha!
