2016-Solar Expansion and Battery Upgrade

We are a family of four that lives in an off-grid passive solar home at 7300 feet elevation in the Front Range of Colorado. When our house was originally built the solar array was good but not great. As such we were constantly struggling to minimize our energy consumption, but even with our best efforts we suffered two premature failures of our lead-acid battery banks. When the second bank of batteries was failing we decided to have a complete analysis done of our system and upgrade or change what we needed. Matt and his crew at Complete Energy Solutions were not only the first to respond to our inquiry but were also the only business that offered to come in person and look at our situation prior to making a proposal. They came out and had a very reasonable proposal to us within 10 days. The installation, once the parts were ordered and available, was just as fast. I can't say enough good things about Complete Energy Solutions. They were quick, professional and very knowledgeable to say the least. They also communicated with us at every stage of the process, which was very helpful. They were not only willing to work with an older system, but actually understood the system better than other contractors we have hired in the past to 'repair' it. They looked at the complete picture and offered a very well thought-out upgrade based on the location of the house, energy production potential, current production and anticipated usage (rather than just a spreadsheet). I truly felt that they offered us what we needed, not just what they had to sell us. Furthermore, Matt was happy to have me watch the installation and ask as many questions as I wanted to feel comfortable with the new additions. When they were finished I felt like I not only had a better off-grid energy system, but a better knowledge of that system as well. Definitely a win-win situation for me. Given the quality of the work, I don't anticipate seeing Complete Energy Solutions for quite a while, but I am delighted to have them close at hand if I need them. They have already demonstrated their commitment to after-sales support when I had a few technical questions to ask, and I feel comfortable that they will be willing to help any time I need them. I recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone who may considering the addition or improvement of a solar energy array.

Honor, Integrity, Excellence

I contacted CES due to their high rating. When I found out they were Veteran owned, that sealed the deal to go with them and I was not disappointed. Being a Vet myself, I expect Honor, Integrity, and Excellence from my brothers and sisters, and I got it. The sales process was very low stress, easy to understand, and very professional. I am also a Ph.D. physicist, and their presentation was what I expected from someone who really knows their stuff. Installation was clean and professional , and they were always there when they said they were going to be there. Jennifer and Matt are amazing people, and use the best crew I have ever had the pleasure to work with. My kids were also interested in what was going on and they answered every question without hesitation. The equipment was top of the line, with a very competitive price, and they handled everything for a painless pleasurable experience. They have earned a customer for life.

Great work, on time, on budget!!

We had complete Energy Solutions provide us with an estimate to install an on ground solar system at our residence in Sedalia, Colorado. My wife and I both travel a lot and needed a project manager that could get all the necessary permits, arrange for utility disconnects and connections, and interact with our electric utility, IREA. The local electric provider was implementing new regulations relatively soon that would add a charge to residential solar systems not completed before the regulations effective date. Matt and Jenn managed the entire project, from designing the system, ordering the necessary components, to installing the system and arranging for trenching, permitting inspections and final connection. The quality and construction of the system is superb and the project was completed on time and within budget. The building department and electrical utility both said the system was expertly installed, and that Complete Energy Solutions is one of the best system installers they work with. We have reduced our electrical build from about $200 month to near zero, and the peak generating months are yet to come! The panels will outlast our house, and we have four electrical outlets to provide us with power when the grid experiences outages. Keeps the freezer and fridge cold! FANTASTIC!

Installation of solar panels for home use

Completely satisfied with the pre-installation discussions (had as many discussions as I wanted with no sales pressure), the short interval between initial discussions and installation, and the ability of the installed system to zero-out our electric bill. There were no surprises and I enjoyed having the "whole family" take part in the installation process. A real family run business that is honest, efficient and very professional.

Could not be more pleased

Matt kept me informed on each step of the installation. The crew was efficient, courteous and able to answer any question I had. Now that the system is up and functioning its output is as promised if not better. I had an extremely satisfying experience from bid to system going on line. Excellent Job

We had Matt Finney and his crew from Complete Energy Solutions install a 10,000 watt ground mount system at our residence. The integrity of the product exceeded our expectations. Matt and his group of retired military personal are on the job as promised and completed the work on time in some good and some very wet weather. The system is structurally overbuilt using galvanized pipe and high strength aluminum members on rock solid 16ea concrete footings designed to withstand the most severe weather. The panels and inverter are top of the line and easily produce 10kw-11kw on a good day. Matt is as knowledgeable as anyone you'll find in the business and is a registered PE (professional engineering licenses) in the state of Colorado. If you want the real deal for a renewable energy system of any kind - call these people.

Outstanding Veteran Owned Small Business!

Matt and his crew installed a 5k system on my roof in the summer of 2013. The whole design and installation process exceeded my expectations from start to finish. Matt is very knowledgeable in all of the aspects of designing and installing a photovoltaic system (mechanical, electrical, structural), which is not surprising since he's an aerospace engineer. He is also a former Army Officer, which helps explain his meticulous attention to detail and his excellent project management skills. CES is truly a "boutique" solar company. His prices are competitive and fair, but service is what truly sets him apart from the competition. I found this out early this spring (2015) when I began noticing that my PV system wasn't producing as much electricity as it should've been. One call was all it took to have Matt and his crew on my roof inspecting my system and diagnosing the problem, which turned out to be several defective panels. Now most, if not all, other solar companies would have probably replaced the defective panels eventually (and probably after more phone calls, testing, etc.), but Matt completely blew me away when he told me that he was going to replace ALLl of my panels, not just the defective ones, since they were all from the same "batch" and potentially could fail at some point in the future. Now that is the kind of service that turns small businesses into big ones! Interestingly, Matt said that my defective panels were the first ones he'd ever encountered since he started in the business, but never the less, he COMPLETELY solved the problem the first time and without hesitation! Outstanding First Rate Service

Complete Enery Solutions (CES) owners Matt and Jennifer saw to the installation of our solar system themselves and had a crew assist with the installation of the panels and a certified electrician on hand for the rewiring phase of the work. Rather than use scaffolding (time consuming), they utilized a hydraulic lift, making for a safer (wet and icy conditions at times) and much more efficient installation. Despite some minor weather delays and oversights that were quickly remedied, the install and activation of the system went smoothly and is operating as I write this review. Our system is a battery back-up system capable of total off-grid operation, which is a product other solar companies could not or would not install. Matt is a certified engineer and he capably designed the system. It was built and installed just as he said he would. He carefully fulfilled the requirements I had and addressed all expectations with his confident expertise. Jennifer, Rob and the crew were pleasant and confident in their work and are totally committed to their product, service and concept of off-grid solar capability. Long before installation, communication was conducted in a prompt fashion, first following my initial contact via email, then on a number of visits and during two estimates. Matt also coached us through the application and permitting process, always promptly keeping us informed with each step of the process. Once the preliminary matters were squared away, installation was executed in prompt fashion to assure the system was on line just before Christmas. Email communication throughout the install was prompt and constant. Mounting hardware on the roof is of exceedingly good quality, and required pigeon guards were expertly installed around the panels. While reassigning circuits for the protected system, they relabled the circuit boxes (badly mislabled at original construction) and fixed some minor existing problems (fuses) in the process. Design and quality of enclosures for the solar equipment, monitor and inverter, as well as the batteries is first rate, sturdy, made to blend with the house and is top-notch in durability and appearance. Even now, weeks after the install, Matt continues to remain in contact, keeping us abreast of progress on receiving a net meter from Xcel Energy (be warned: this is the slowest part of the entire process, though it's inconsequential-Xcel really drags their feet), and he continues to answer our questions we have about our fully functioning system. We have yet to see our first bill from Xcel, but we anticipate a pleasant result. We are planning a number of off-grid tests (which should also enhance the bill) in the coming year (although a reduced power bill was not the main objective in this project) and Matt will be there to answer our questions and address any issues we may encounter. CES stands by their work (as if it was really needed) and their guarantee of doing so is rock solid. Matt and Jennifer are CES! They are first rate, knowledgeable and confident. They know their product through and through and stand behind it and their work. They are dependable beyond reproach, and their communication (and patience in fully explaining everything) is excellent and admirable. I cannot recommend CES' services and products enough. This is a class act that outshines many contractors out there with blemishes on their review record, impossible to beat and beyond comparison-and their pricing is competitive as well! Matt did a fantastic job!!!

We had a GREAT experience working with Matt and his team. He was recommended to us and we have passed his name on to many other people already. The reasons are obvious: he is a PE and is clearly involved in the entire process (vs representatives or sales people that I didn't find as knowledgable), he was always punctual, true to budget and timeline and he took a lot of extra time to educate us and figure out the best situation for our set up. In our case he worked above our horses (install on barn) and was the BEST CONTRACTOR EVER with respect to the animals… making sure to not scare them when working above them, putting down tarps to catch anything that fell into the paddocks and using a metal detector to make sure nothing was left. If you are considering a PV set up, you need to call these guys!!!

Best in class!

Over the course of 6 years I have sought help on an off grid solar electric system in a remote location in Colorado. After hiring five different solar installation "experts", all of whom turned out to be not competent in all facets of the system, I found Matt Feeney and his team. They know it all, they get it all right, they make it work and you learn a lot about your system because they like to share their knowledge and expertise. I have now had Complete Energy Solutions install three different systems and they all work perfectly, as designed, as promised and on budget. They really are the best.

Great Job

Matt is a licensed engineer. He understands the science and regulations behind both structural and electrical design. He designs the systems with oversized wires and other components to make them strong and efficient. Unlike a huge multi-national company that just wants to get jobs on the books, Matt wants to make electricity for customers to deliver ROI.

Solar install

I had spent 8 months researching my project. Having an electrical engineer degree, I wasn't a complete novice but most of this "solar" the sales person didn't even know Ohm's Law. Plus a majority of them were from out of state. Complete Energy Solutions is local (Arvada) and has a real PE. As in Professional Engineer that is when he put his name on a draw he is liable. I had a unique situation where we had to put in a ground mount where most installers wouldn't even bother. If you want to be energy independent do your research . And if you want it done right chose this company, they know there stuff.

Excellent experience

Matt was an excellent contractor and spent time to understand our needs and ensure our system was installed exactly how we wanted. The install was quick and professional. I would highly recommend Complete Energy Solutions for any future projects. The system we have is hands down better than any of the systems offered by the solar lease companies.
