Clearway Community Solar is the largest developer and operator of Community Solar farms in the United States with nearly 100 Community Solar projects active or in development serving over 20,000 customers. Clearway Community Solar farms offer universal support of solar energy to residents (homeowners and renters alike), businesses, non-profits, religious organizations, schools, hospitals and municipalities, no roof required, no maintenance of solar panels, no down payment. Clearway is not a retail electric provider. Clearway is not a utility. Clearway offers a new, convenient solar energy option that enables the support of locally produced renewable power and local jobs. How Community Solar Works Community Solar is a solar energy sharing program that allows subscribers to support 100% renewable energy in their region. Clearway builds and operates offsite solar farms throughout the communities we serve. The solar power generated by our solar farms is sent to the local power grid, helping reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Clearway customers earn solar bill credits that are typically applied directly on the utility bill which reduce the total due to the electric utility each month. Customers then pay Clearway in a separate invoice for the cost of the solar bill credits at a rate determined by their Clearway Customer Agreement. Costs may vary by region and contract. Customers are still responsible for any balance due to their electric utility. Our solar farms usually produce more energy in the summer months when the days are longer and sunnier. Solar production will fluctuate throughout the year and customers will be billed for their allocation of the solar farm throughout the year.
