A Thoroughly Positive Experience with Celestial Solar

Celestial Solar was terrific in all respects. Owner Jim Reilly visited our home and explained everything clearly. The staff measuring the roof, the crew installing the panels, and the members of the crew doing the needed electrical work, were all—like Jim --- professional, knowledgeable, easy to work with, trustworthy and courteous. Jim was also helpful with navigating the needed paperwork for warranties, the state rebate (for Maryland), the federal tax credit, and SRECS (solar renewable energy credits). We recommend Celestial without reservation.

Celestial Solar Innovations

When we initially looked at getting solar panels we decided to research multiple companies. Over several weeks we looked into about 8 different companies ranging from smaller local companies to large national companies. We met with 5 of these companies and Celestial Solar Innovations was the final meeting. From our first meeting, it became very clear that Jim was the best fit for our needs. He was able to answer all of our questions and clearly explain the process and timeline. A key selling point was his explanation of the equipment he would be using as well as why he felt that it was the best. We had already done extensive research into the solar array business but we were still able to learn something new by talking to Jim. Jim also being local and very familiar with the permitting and inspection process was another reason we decided to move forward with him. We had multiple questions throughout the process and Jim took the time to provide thorough explanations. The entire process from the initial meeting to receiving Permission to Operate took just over 3 months. Throughout the whole process, we were constantly in communication with Jim receiving updates on the status of the job. The paperwork process was painless and relatively simple. The installation crew was able to complete the installation in 2 days. There were a few minor issues that popped up in the process but Jim was always available to remedy the situation. Once the job was completed Becky was able to assist us in providing paperwork for tax filings, MEA grant, warranty, and rebates along with providing information to set up our monitoring app and SREC account. Overall we were very pleased with Celestial Solar Innovations and would highly recommend them to anyone interested in investing in a solar array.

Great company to work with.

Jim and Celestial Solar were great to work with. I had numerous questions that Jim answered quickly and efficiently as well as providing supporting documentation for most of my questions. He was much more responsive than other vendors I got quotes from and provided the pros and cons of some of the items I was looking at. Helping me to make an informed decision on items even if it impacted the final order. We ended up putting a rather large installation of 71 panels on our roof which took a while to get approval through the county and the utility, but Jim kept me informed through the process. Once the installation was approved the crew came out and got everything installed in about a week. I appreciated that the guys showed up on time, they were all very friendly and considerate of my property. The system has been live for about 2 months now and so far, I have not had any issues. I would highly recommend them.

Excellent experience!

Jim and his team were fantastic throughout the whole process. I couldn't be happier with the service they provided. The solar panels are generating enough power that we never have to pay an electric bill again. If you're on the fence, just go for it and you won't regret it.

Highly Recommended

This is actually the first review I have ever posted for a company and am doing so because of how impressed I was with Jim and his Celestial team throughout the whole process of going solar. Before I committed to going solar, I did a lot of research before I even talked with and requested quotes from 4 separate companies (2 national and 2 local). Jim was by far the most upfront and honest and his recommendations and suggestions were consistent with the research I had previously done on the current technology, pricing, estimated production, etc. He ended up working multiple designs for me to maximize my production while not wasting money and panels on roof locations that would not generate efficiently. His costs were substantially lower and the panel and microinverter selections were state of the art compared to the proposals the other companies were trying to convince me to go with. As impressed as was with Jim during the sales and design phase, I was equally impressed with the Celestial install team. They were timely, friendly, competent, and professional. They were approachable and responsive when I asked questions or discussed options when they were installing panels and doing the electrical work. I was happy that they actually reached out to me when there were last minute routing decisions to make sure I was happy with the final result. After the install was completed, I noticed there were a couple of panels that had small but annoying visual imperfections that were right next to my front entry way (which I saw every time I went in and out of my house). I sent Jim pictures of them and he immediately offered to swap them out for new ones, no charge. Finally, I was also impressed with the support Jim provided post install with the multiple county/BGE inspections. I decided to set up my own GATS and SREC exchange accounts so I did not take Celestial up on their offer to handle all this themselves. In summary, I am so happy I have gone solar and that I went with Jim and Celestial. I would highly recommend them.

Solar "A" Team!

Jim and Celestial Solar team were great to work with. They were responsive, professional, knowledgeable, and did great work. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Their quote was accurate and no-nonsense; Jim worked out a couple different array options with us to look at different panel counts and mounting arrangements. He was patient in reviewing the options with us and working thru some permitting issues with the county. We have been live for a month now and love not paying for electricity anymore!

Great Solar Experience

My husband and I are very pleased with our solar panels, and even more so with our experience with Jim and Celestial Solar. After almost committing to Solar City, and hours of basically a sales speech, my neighbor told me about Jim and Celestial Solar and her great experience. Jim arranged a Zoom meeting with us after first getting an estimate of the project scope and cost. The installation was great. Jim really knows his business, and is quick to respond to questions and concerns. We have seen our electric bills basically vanish since our installation in July. Although of course, those are the sunnier, warmer months. We highly recommend Jim and his company.

I couldn't be happier with my decision to work with Celestial! I spent way too much time trying to familiarize myself with solar hardware so I could confirm which of the many quotes I got was the best value when I could have just trusted the reviews. Celestial has been extremely diligent in their work and helpful with all my questions. Exceeded my expectations!

Amazing work by Jim & Celestial Solar...it only took two days to complete the project, got approval by the county in a couple of days, then we went live much faster than expected. Jim was very easy to work with and answered all of our questions thoroughly. Would recommend 100%!

Design and installation of rooftop solar system

I was extremely happy with Celestial Solar Innovations. They were very price competitive, met all schedules, were very responsive and the workmanship was excellent. I couldn’t have received a better experience.

Smooth installation, great service

Celestial Solar did a great job with my solar installation. Jim was helpful in my free consultation, answering all my questions and providing a couple great options for my array configuration. The installation team was fast and friendly. They knew I was scared that my dogs might get loose when they were coming and going, and they took great care to knock when entering and having me hold the dogs when leaving. The array has been running for a couple months now and is already making a huge difference in my electric bill. The team at Celestial has been so great with their follow-ups, between getting me set up to monitor production to setting me up to trade solar credits and everything else I've needed. They're knowledgeable, friendly, and professional - you can't go wrong with Celestial.

Choose Celestial - you will not regret it

When I started researching which solar company to use, I had 4 companies provide bids. 3 of those companies were big chains that were quoting me for systems significantly too big, didn't understand local ordinances, and promising me things they could just not deliver. Celestial Solar, however, came in and explained everything to me very clearly right from the start. They were not the least expensive, but they provided me the best financing options, sent me ALL of the details on their products before our first meeting, provided a dozen customer testimonials (which none of the others did), and went above and beyond communicating to me throughout the entire process. It was a no -brainer when it came for who to choose and I 100% recommend them for your solar install.

Outstanding Company

We had Celestial Solar install panels on our house in August, 2023. After checking other companies, it looked like Celestial would be easy to work with, and that turned out to be very true. Jim was always clear about what would work best for our house. He presented detailed and articulate plans for the project. He was responsive and helpful. The work was done quickly and professionally. We were kept informed every step of the process. Our solar panels are producing more electricity than we use each month, just as Jim predicted. This was one of the best companies I have worked with in 50 years.

Months after the install, they resolved a warranty repair on my solar combiner and were just as responsive. One of the best companies I've ever hired to do work on my home.

Great company

Several features distinguish this company from the competition. You deal with Jim Reilly, the principal, rather than a salesman. He is very knowledgable, and answers questions honestly and directly. Once he's assessed your roof potential via the internet, he sends out a technician to actually measure the roof and the available light. He prepares you a quote only after he has this information. The other companies I received bids from just based their proposals on the internet data. Jim's bid was also the lowest. The installation crew was on-time, efficient and expert. The installation looks great. Jim's staff also handled all the permitting, coordination with BGE and application for SREC reimbursement. Jim's communication is excellent.

Very happy with solar system installed by Celestial Solar

My wife and I are very happy with the solar system Celestial Solar installed for us. Not only was Jim extremely helpful throughout the process, but we might not have ever gotten solar if not for his approach at the outset: he did an analysis of our site and included estimated generation potential per by month, which allowed us to compare the system's potential generative capacity to our monthly use report from Pepco. Based on that, we could see that the proposed system would produce more power than we typically use during AC season, and even though the electricity produced during winter is significantly less, that doesn't really matter for us since our furnace, hot water heater, and clothes dryer all use natural gas, i.e. we don't use much electricity during the winter. Jim's willingness to provide an actual analysis was in stark contrast to another company we had contacted based on a neighbor's strong recommendation --- when I called that company to schedule a consult, all the person did was look at the satellite image of our property on Google Maps and said, "It's not worth it for you to install solar because of those trees in your neighbor's yard," and that was the end of it. By contrast, when I first talked with Jim, he acknowledged that the trees meant the site was perhaps not ideal, but he said something to the effect of, "but it's not obvious that those trees make solar not worth it, and the only way to really know is to do an analysis." After we decided to purchase a system, Jim also took the time to provide a revised proposal based on his team's on-site review of the existing electrical system components; the review showed that the existing system components could handle 4 additional panels (beyond what was originally proposed) without having to do any upgrades or modifications to the existing main panel or sub-panel. So while the overall cost increased slightly because of the additional panels, we maximized the generative capacity without adding costs associated with upgrading the existing electrical system. I very much appreciated the fact that Jim provided the revised proposal as an option for us to consider and did so without any pressure or sales pitch. Jim's overall professionalism and general willingness to answer any of my questions extended to everyone on his team. From the person who did the initial on-site review of the existing electrical system to the technician who returned after the main install to set up the monitoring system, from all 5 members of the installation team to the office manager, everyone was a pleasure to work with. We definitely recommend Celestial Solar.

Fantastic company to work with!

Celestial Solar did an excellent job fitting my house with solar panels. Jim, the owner, was great to work with. He was very upfront with everything from cost to turnaround to benefits, and always answered all of my questions quickly and thoroughly. I would recommend Celestial Solar to anyone looking to get solar panels for a variety of reasons, including price, dependability, and communication. However, the biggest reason I'd recommend them is because of how straightforward they are about everything that they do.

Exceeded expectations!

I did a lot of research, received several quotes and Celestial provided the best price. Jim Reilly was always quick to respond to my questions and helped with all the paperwork to get me all the rebates that I was qualified to receive. The installation only took one day and the installers were very professional and also quite personable. Overall the entire experience from beginning to end was so easy and really did exceed all my expectations. Couldn’t be happier!

Best Solar Company around

We got multiple quotes and Celestial were the most knowledgeable and best price with an amazingly custom built system! I had a few companies ignore me and only talk to my husband - which was super condescending seeing as I'm the one who wanted to go solar and knew the ins and outs of everything. Jim had a great quote package showing that he knows exactly what the customer needs to see. He was also always a phone call or email away - usually answering you within 24 hours. The install was quick and although there are a lot of components to going solar, he walks you through all of them. I love our system and my electric bill this month was 6$ - since I have an electric car, I was ecstatic!

Larged and In-charged

I worked with Jim and the fine folks at Celestial to install a 12.58 kW solar rooftop solar system on my home to fully offset my family's consumption of electricity. Jim, the founder/owner, is the face of the business and the primary person who I interacted with. Jim is incredibly patient and eloquent, able to explain all of the specs, numbers, details, and steps of the process in a way that I could understand. He is also quick at responding to phone calls or emails, as well as following up with paperwork and engaging with third parties (inspectors, installers, power company, etc). The process overall was straightforward from my end, as Jim and co handled everything - design, installation, inspection, etc. I could not be happier with my system - it puts a smile on my face to see those black rectangles every time I come home.

Most transparent company I've worked with

We got estimates from several large solar companies that service our area. While Jim and all of the Celestial Solar employees were extremely professional throughout the process, what stood them apart was their transparency with pricing. Jim came to the house and talked us through options for paying for the system that could save us money overall, and in fact brought Jim’s estimate in for significantly less than the other companies. When I went back and asked the other companies I had received quotes from whether those same pricing options were available with them they admitted those options were available but never presented to me! It was a no brainer. The system was installed as promised and on time and works even better than anticipated.

Having just recently built a custom home and worked with many contractors, I can tell you Jim (the owner) stands out amongst the rest. Not one bad thing to say about this company. We had a system installed by Celestial in December of 2022 in Frederick County MD. Jim and his crew handled everything from start to finish with ease and professionalism. Jim came to our home and explained everything prior to going with his business and answered every question. Jim's crew that arrived at our home were experienced, professional, prepared and efficient. They treated our home with respect and walked us through each step of the install process. After installation Jim handled county permit approval and communication with the power company to install the new meter. After the system was turned on Jim educated us on SREC credits for the energy generated by our system and allowed us to make an informed decision on whether or not to sign up for this service which earns us extra money from our system on top of the electric savings generated. Fantastic company, professional employees and a top of the line product that includes an app on your phone that allows you to track your systems performance.
