Very Good Service

We installed recently a solar system with Black Platinum. We fixed the roof and installed solar panels. The company was very good at meeting their commitments. We had some small delays in repairing the roof, but not through to fault of the solar installer. We had some small snags while installing a new electric panel, but John fixed them promptly. We were happy with the choice of solar installation provider we had.

John senior and jr. are a great team, they have a very experienced crew with very competitive pricing and solutions. They did what they promised to do when they promised to do it. Black Platinum Solar & Electric

After many in home estimates, we chose Black Platinum over the others. His demeanor, knowledge and most of all his helpfulness was excellent. They install Lg panels, one of the top 3 for dependability and getting the most "juice" from Mother Nature. They took care of everything from permits to approvals and the workmanship was professionally done. Every person on the crew worked like a well oiled machine finishing 24 panels and all other related items in one day. Conduit runs in the attic and not on top of my roof as other companies do to to save time. With so many solar companies out there, it's difficult to pick one that shines above the others. Choose John Black and Black Platinum and you'll never have a second thought and never see a high electric bill again.

I can't say enough good things about John and his crew. After searching, and getting many quotes, Black Platinum offered the best product for the best price. I was initially concerned because the are a small company, but i quickly learned that it was benefit. As happens with many projects, several curves were thrown at us. APS challenged us several times, but Black Platinum was quickly able to adjust, and get my system up and running sooner than originally estimated. As I observed the installation, I saw that John and his team have only one way of doing things....the right way. I will not hesitate to recommend Black Platinum to friends or family that may look to install in the future.

Professional company.

We were very impressed by the professionalism of everyone associated with Black Platinum Solar and Electric. The day of installation they arrived and set up in a very organized and efficient manner. It was very important to us that the solar company we chose did their own installation. Once you sign the contract Black Platinum Solar does not sub-contract the Job out to someone who you’ve never dealt with. Peace of mind knowing you only have one entity to rely on. Both John’s were available to answer any questions we had and address any concerns we had. Everyone in the office Toni and Joann were also available when needed. Great experience, which is what you want when you are investing so much.

Impressed

Black Platinum is the way to go. Very impressed with their crew and John. Did exactly what they said they would do. Arrived exactly on time each day and went to work. Very thorough with all answers. They work on one install at a time so you don’t get pushed aside because of another job. Talk to other companies but choose Black Platinum. You will be pleased. We love the Enlphase data system that gives us our usage ,by panel, in real time. Just a great experience after we made the big desicion.

Do you due diligence, but go with Black Platinum!

We began looking into solar about 2 years ago when AZ announced plans to increase APS rates again. Wanting to be protected from future hikes was a major motivating factor. We got quotes from 3 companies. The big ones (Tesla) we’re far more interested in leasing a system and pushed sales gimmicks without supplying a lot of solid information. John and Black Platinum were an entirely different matter. I learned a ton about the industry and options in my first 1.5 hour discussion with John. I knew right away that if we decided to go solar, BP would be our company. His price was competitive. He personally walked us through all the steps of the contract, APS plans, and installation. He even gave me a $1500 refund when he realized he could do the job without adding an electrical panel he had budgeted for. But the proof is in the pudding, of course. We ask for a 100% system meaning we didn’t ever want to see a bill over the $33 monthly connection fees. Our system was turned on in Decemebr of last year and it’s now October (almost through the AC season) and it looks like we will have about a months surplus power going into the next yearly cycle. How great does that feel? I have recommended BP to several colleagues and one used BP with a similar experience. Do your HW, but know you’re wasting your time because BP is the way to go. Honest, hardworking, integrity, nice, prompt, and funny... All BP characteristics!

Correct choice. Exceeded all expectations!

John and his team installed an 18Kw system on our home in June 2018. We did our typical research and got 5 estimates from top rated solar installers. The difference which pushed us to go with Black Platinum was the quality of the equipment they use as well as John's personal attention. His price was competitive with the other companies we were considering, however, his equipment choices (LG Panels & Enphase micro inverters) were of a much higher quality than any other quote for the same price. Basically, more bang for your buck. John worked with us throughout the entire process to ensure that we got the system that we needed. Having just moved into the home, we did not have any usage history to work with. John was patient and was able to accurately size the system based on very limited information. There was no sales pitch or any pressure from his end. He was the consummate professional and was more concerned with accuracy and honesty than making sure we went with his company. The installation was fast and respectful. We have two young kids in the house and they were mindful to keep any areas inside clean and safe. The install took 4 days and John and his son (John) were present throughout. His crew is extremely professional, courteous and highly skilled at what they do. They have all been with John a long time and it showed. All of the wiring was run in the attic and walls so that nothing showed from the outside. His drywall repair guy was nothing short of amazing. You would never know that there was a patch except for our own lousy paint job (they used a closet so it doesn't really matter anyway). Overall, the install looks great and is functioning as designed thus far. When APS delayed because of a panel question, John was the one who handled it and got the system live as quickly as possible. He was even going to absorb the cost of an upgraded panel if APS required it, since it was not part of his initial estimate. Luckily, he was able to avoid further delays and found a work around with APS. We are so happy with our choice to go with John and his team at Black Platinum. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking at solar power.

John runs an honest business and is upfront about everything. I will use Black Platinum again if I ever move. I check the Enphase app or website throughout the day to see my energy production and savings add up. We are very happy we made the decision to go solar and to use Black Platinum.

John Black, and the team at Black Platinum Solar, are absolutely outstanding to work with. To begin, they do not try to sell you on their services. John will call and educate on the product, answer any questions you may have, and will give you all of the tools you will need to make an informed decision of your own. After you have agreed to work with them, the process is seemless. They handle everything. They are ALWAYS on time, and work until your project is completed. Most impressively, they are CLEAN!!! They open your walls and run all of the electric inside of the walls instead of attaching unattractive conduit to your walls, and had a drywall person patch and retexturize when they were finished. They even mopped my floors!!! Yes ... the garage floor too!! My project was completed 4 months ago, and this last week I had a question for them. John was still helping me yesterday (ON A SUNDAY) to be sure we had our questions answered. I can’t be more satisfied with the decision we made to work with Black Platinum Solar & Electric. Great Company

We had the pleasure of having Black Platinum install our solar during the Summer of 2017 when our electric bill was averaging about $380 per month. Our current bill has been running about $32 per month. The installation was done extremely professional with them keeping us informed on each step of the process. We have been very please with the performance of our system. They even trained us on how to check on our systems performance and production and how to read the exact production. Anytime we have a question, they are more than happy to keep us informed. We had a fuse go out once and they were out within 24 hrs and replaced it without our knowing it. They monitor all their installed systems and let you know immediately should anything go wrong. Great investment, which we feel will pay for itself within 8 years. 7 Happy years follow-up

This has been a great experience!. Not only has the entire initial process (Design and building of the installation) been extremely pleasant and efficient, but the system has worked flawlessly for 7 years. For some reason this site only allows to choose year 2012 as the oldest date? but our system was completed in June 2011 and was called the Rolls Royce of solar system by the SRP inspector. In addition, John Black and his company have continue to monitor our installation all those years. Some of the initial microinverters had problems and they promptly replaced them all free of charge. Their customer service is second to none! They are certainly other good solar companies on the market, but none better. Highly, highly recommended. Our only regret: We should have done it much earlier, like the friends who referred us to John Black.

The right contractor

As an Architect I know the most important decision for any project is choosing the right contractor. For our family home we choose Black Platinum Solar & Electric. John & John & Toni Black, father and son & family, and their whole crew have been a pleasure to work with from first meeting on the roof - to our solar power activation. We designed the system based upon the economics: ROI. Everything was on time and on budget, professionally done with direct personal attention to all details. "On time" means actually working on your roof the minute they said - not just showing up to get ready. Answering my email at 4:30 AM - sure. Refreshingly there was never a sales pitch, no up-sell, and only 1 extra - at my request. Get what you pay for: no nonsense straight forward quality installation, not marketing, layers of administration, overhead etc. While completely unnecessary, I was on our roof often observing the work just to learn. Pride of Workmanship personifies their business. They work with finesse, these guys love their work. They have an extensive construction background, so care was taken not to mess up other elements of the building. And built to last - the old fashion way, earning their reputation every day on each job. There are many technical details in a solar installation from assuring roof penetrations are waterproof to the specs of the micro-circuitry and automated trouble shooting. In our case the software found issues with APS electric servicing the neighborhood and they got APS to fix it. With their reputation and connections they obtained the latest technology prior to anyone else. Their objective is to give you the best trouble free solar installation with the minimum disruption to your life, and delivering more than promised. On a Friday afternoon John finished the paperwork and submitted City inspection approval to APS and by the next Wednesday morning our system was up and live. I’m told this was a record for APS, but it wouldn’t have happened if Black Platinum wasn’t totally on top of all the details. There is considerable permitting and inspections in this process, and substantial (under appreciated) value in getting this done right and expeditiously. The Enphase micro-inverter system they use provide realtime internet monitoring of each solar panel as well as your whole system, shown as it is actually configured on your roof, with energy production and consumption over time so you alway know every day, month and year how your system is performing. So far we are producing more than we are consuming. For telling testimonials look for those reviews a year or later after installation. I’ll post one in a year to verify the ROI calculations. I’ve read so many of their 5-Star reviews online and can now vouch that they are not only credible but represent the standard of work of Black Platinum Solar.

The reviews say it all. Top notch organization. Best price, incredible crew, excellent product. My layout was imperfect but John went through great effort and designed a system that to this day has only generated savings. I have yet to pay for the generation of electricity since the install almost a year ago. The process was painless and John and his crew installed the system in a far more aesthetic way than other companies. I would recommend this company to anyone seeking solar. And to top it off, the post sale service is just as great. I had a tiny problem a few weeks ago with the monitoring software and one email to John and it was fixed the next day. Talk about service! And by the way, the monitoring software is addictive as you watch the savings pile up!

Very Satisfied With Black Platinum Solar and Electric

These guys are excellent. John was a pleasure to talk to and finally meet. His entire crew were a great team and cared about the work they did. They were all, to a man, easy to talk to and work with. Earned their 5 star rating!

Like many of the other reviewers, its hard to believe a contractor in Arizona has a perfect rating with so many installs. That said, they earned every star and more. The education was simple and clear, while the design to install was completely handled by John and the team. I had two things to do: write them a check and push the handle to on once the APS box meter was approved. It was that easy. No mess, quick and wouldn't even had known they were here if not for 44 panels on my back roof. The panels and system look great on the roof. While its early and only the first month of operation, but I opened up my APS bill for March and it was a negative -$147. APS technically owed me money. Here come the cool summers!! Seriously, John and the team deliver on everything the reviews have previously said. I looked around and studied the benefits of solar, size, own vs lease, etc. If your looking to buy (the only way to go) and want the best install and technology, Black Platinum is the way to go.

Helpful, even when not obligated to.

Our solar company disappeared and our panels were not functioning. Enphase recommended Black Platinum Solar. They gave us a timely response and were willing to help us. They installed the Envoy our company had omitted and re-set the system and it started working right away. The cost for the equipment was reasonable and the service was fantastic. Very professional and good communication! We are very thankful for their help!

Outstanding Performance - Right Pricing

John Black is first a master electrician adept within all standard and solar codes and rules but also fully understanding the theory on which they are (or should be!) based. Client relations and respect have proven to be top notch with everyone on the BP team. A good contractor is a busy contractor but when my job had issues, I heard only of continuing effective actions, never of delays and excuses. After reviewing detailed proposals from two of the so-called top solar companies I received from BP a better system design for my money than expected, and the city approvals, install and follow-up were even better. The install workmanship and appearance are outstanding. I have delayed this report until some problems occurred and not surprised that the BP team gives appropriate priority even to just one inverter/panel performing erratically. With one of the big companies, I would not even have the visibility of such problems, much less any assurance whether or when they would be dealt with. I recommended BP to a good friend and he is also delighted with them and with his install.
