Failure to make repairs

The clasps that hold the subpanel door closed broke when I was required to open the subpanel to reset the system. I've been trying for almost three months to get the subpanel door repaired, but Ameco refuses to take any action to repair it. It is currently taped shut, and I'm going to be required to hire a different company to make the necessary repairs to preserve the integrity of the system and then go after Ameco for reimbursement.

Ameco has a great team and we are very happy with the service and expertise they provided. Stan did an excellent job managing the entire project and keeping everything on track. James was fantastic during the planning process, took time to explain everything, make sure we understood our options and were getting the best system to fit our needs. The whole team was professional, responsive, and easy to work with. Highly recommended!

Great company! My advisor was so helpful and stayed in touch the entire time. A few small hiccups but overall a great experience. I have a new Tesla battery and solar for my home. It took total of 3 months from beginning to end.

Great Company Ameco Solar and Roofing

The team at Ameco Solar and Roofing deserves 5 stars. I wanted to share feedback on my recent solar installation. After the permits were approved, the project itself went very smoothly and was completed in a timely manner. I was impressed with several members of your team: *Jason Anderson* was my original salesperson and he was outstanding. Jason gave me hours of his time and patiently answered what felt like a hundred questions before I committed to the project, and even after. He also helped me procure the 30% federal tax credit for the solar products. That guidance alone was invaluable. *Carol in Customer Service* also went above and beyond. She spent a lot of time helping me understand the Powerwall and how the app works. Her explanations were clear and she made sure I was comfortable with the system before signing off. *Ivan, the Project Manager*, kept everything organized and on schedule. I appreciated his communication and oversight. *Christian*, who was part of the inspection team, was thorough, professional, and courteous. The actual installers did a great job with the technical work and were respectful while here. I do want to mention one area for improvement: when the crew left, both of my gates were left wide open and there was some trash/debris from the installation in the yard. A final walkthrough to secure the property and haul away materials would make a big difference. Overall I’m very pleased with Ameco and grateful for the team’s expertise. Ameco solar provided an incredible sales consultation, and was able to give me the most affordable quote for the solar system I've purchased. They are the only solar installer I know with the Price Match Guarantee, and they've honored it even after I've signed the contract. My project has been fully completed last year, on time and with high quality workmanship. Support team is excellent and very helpful.

I would give 0 stars if I could. This is unequivocally the worst service I have ever received. Ameco has failed at every step, leaving us with an unfinished, non-functional system and costing us thousands in lost NEM 3.0 credits. Avoid this company at all costs. 1) Gross Negligence on Critical Paperwork. Ameco's carelessness is staggering. We personally caught a critical error (the wrong address) on their PG&E PTO application and notified them to fix it. Incredibly, they still submitted the incorrect paperwork. This single act of incompetence has caused a cascade of massive, unacceptable delays. We are still not approved, and Ameco has shown no urgency in fixing the problem they created. 2) Complete Lack of Communication and Accountability. Our representative, Ivan, completely ghosted us as soon as the contract was signed. It took numerous, persistent calls and emails over three weeks just to get the initial work scheduled. Now that there are problems, they are impossible to reach. 3) Appalling Installation and Total Lack of Professionalism. The installation was a disaster. * The installer, Miguel, did not complete the original job and left garbage strewn across our property. * The work was sloppy and dangerous, with live wires left hanging, missing screws, and unsecured panels. * After we complained, Ameco sent the same installer, Miguel, back. He promptly failed to finish the installation again, leaving critical Enphase components like the gateway modem and collar literally hanging in a state of disarray. 4) Perpetual System Faults (Due to Botched Installation). Because of Ameco's botched installation, our brand-new Enphase system is plagued with daily faults. We've had constant battery errors and gateway connection failures. This has forced us to spend hours on the phone with Enphase technical support trying to troubleshoot a system that Ameco failed to install correctly. Our project is still incomplete, we have no idea when we will get PTO, and we have zero confidence in this company's ability to do the job.

Significant challenges in getting the project to completion

I'm struggling to rate this company, as our solar system is now installed and working, and the final cost was reasonable. For that, they deserve a star. However, the journey to get there was quite possibly the worst service experience I have ever endured, stretching out over a grueling eight months. While some project delays are expected with complex installations, the profound lack of proactive communication and the constant deflection of blame onto others (rather than a focus on solutions) was incredibly painful and time-consuming. Let me provide a few examples that illustrate our extreme frustration: - Disregard for Design & Failed Inspection: The initial battery wall installation did not comply with the approved designs. As an engineer, I know how to read plans, and I immediately raised concerns to both the installation crew and the company. My concerns were summarily dismissed with a reminder that "we are the experts." Unsurprisingly, we failed our first inspection due to this non-compliance, costing us a full month in re-inspection scheduling delays. - Unacceptable timing for AC Disconnection: We were initially told to expect 5-7 days of AC disconnection to accommodate the inspection schedule. This "short" period dragged on for over four months due to inspection delays. While I understand inspection scheduling is outside their direct control, the sheer lack of updates was infuriating. We had to call, text, or email every week to get any information. At the final step, we personally communicated directly with the power company, which finally resulted in some forward momentum. Living in a hot climate, a non-operational AC for such an extended period was not merely an inconvenience, but a significant hardship. - Battle for Battery Removal & Harassment: After a crew arrived unannounced to replace a non-operational solar battery (a situation that was not coordinated and disrupted our personal plans), they simply left the old, non-operational ~300lb battery in our yard, stating that pickup "would get scheduled." This was equipment we had no means to move, let alone dispose of. When a pickup was finally scheduled, and after I took a day off work (because someone needed to be home to meet the freight team for pickup, and the company was unwilling to coordinate the pickup themselves), the freight company refused to take the battery. Their reason: it was too heavy and left in our backyard, not near the front of the house. We then battled for weeks to get any response on a re-schedule, all while our long-planned vacation approached. Subsequently, we were relentlessly pestered via text while on vacation, demanding we "immediately" deal with final payment and battery pickup, despite being in a situation that was entirely their responsibility. These are just a few of the many instances that compounded our frustration. What began as a genuinely positive experience (three months ago, I would have enthusiastically given five stars!) steadily deteriorated as the project wore on. Communication became progressively worse, to the point where the only time we could elicit a response was when they were demanding a payment. Even then, those communications were dismissive, unhelpful, and consistently focused on placing blame on everyone but themselves. This company desperately needs to re-evaluate its customer service and project management processes.

Great solar installer!

Ameco Solar was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Their communication throughout the process was clear and consistent, keeping us informed every step of the way. They stayed on top of everything, ensuring our solar panels were installed and running smoothly without any delays or issues. Highly recommend their team for anyone considering solar installation!

A fine new roof

Max Sigua has been my very capable and attentive project lead. The price for the project is fair. The end results are a professionally done roof. Max chose capable roofers and a capable solar panel installer to complete my project. I already have solar. So in this project it was remove the panels then replace the roof and the. Reinstall the solar. It’s a beautiful roof now! It’s also a very cool (temp) roof. I expect big things of this energy saving roof! Attached are pics of the roof. I highly recommend AMECO. Max Sigua communicates with me all the way through the project.

Incompetent

Incompetent is too nice a word to describe Ameco. They delayed my project by weeks because their surveyor could not get the correct measurements the TWO times he came. I had to finish the measurements my self to not delay the project further. They then decided not to follow their own plan when installing the panels which caused inspection to fail and having to resubmit plans again causing another delay.

We had a new solar panel system installed on our house and we were lucky enough to get it under the NEM 2.0 program thanks to Ameco's help. I started applying a little before the deadline and they were very quick in approving and getting the application started with PG&E. The whole project was painless from start to finish with the exception of how long it took for us to turn on the entire system, but that was not due to Ameco's fault or failure. The delay was all on PG&E. During the process, Jaqueline F. was great at keeping us updated on the progress of the system. She responded to my questions in a prompt manner during the entire process. Once our system was installed, Ophir B spent a considerable amount of time going over the Enphase application that we use to track our system's production and the emergency shutoff procedures as well as answering all the questions that I had, which were many. Ophir was not only professional but friendly and courteous as well. I am very happy with the system and the service that we received from everyone at Ameco!

Project savior

This company salvaged our solar project. We started out with another company that was matched to us by Electrum(SCE marketplace) but was forced to cancel that contract because of lack of progress. The silver lining to our situation is being connected to Ameco who immediately picked up our project. We have zero complaints w Ameco. We couldnt have asked for a better project manager than Evelyn Ramon. She was on top of everything and communication with her was awesome. It took a few more months before we got our application approved, but after that installation was smooth sailing. The installation team Daniel and Morgan got everything lined up. The installation crew led by Levon was very professional, working late hours to finish the project. Unsurprisingly, we passed inspection without a glitch and now our solar is up and running. Thank you so much Ameco!

I recently had a wonderful experience with Ameco Solar and am so happy I chose them for my solar project. The entire process was great from beginning to end. First, their salesman, Tash, gave us a very detailed and transparent quote, which made us comfortable working with them from the start. Their price is quite reasonable. The communication with Tash and Emili was easy, and they were always very responsive to my questions over email, phone, and Team Meetings. Second, the installation team was clearly very experienced and worked efficiently to get the job done. The entire project with Ameco Solar was very smooth, with each step following the other without any delays.

Buyer beware - Don't buy from Ameco

We are seven weeks into our solar installation and we're tired of being told 'we're on schedule" when we never were told what the schedule was. Our roof had the tile removed on August 22nd and the Amerco representative said we'd be inspected in a day or two and then the electrical work would be done. Tomorrow will be seven weeks with tiles sitting on our roof. Communication is nearly impossible to reach the office or the so called "project manager" as no one is ever available when you call the home office. We had to have one project manager removed from the project after we got lied to. The inspector from Southern California Edison showed up one with paperwork showing the Ameco had requested that day for the electrical work to be inspected and the work hadn't even been started. It took several days of inspectors coming out from the City Building Department for the electrical work to finally be approved. A competitor started last Monday and finished the whole installation on Thursday with all of the inspections approved. We sadly picked the wrong company to do our installation.

Great company to work with

AMECO delivers on what they promised. Very satisfied from initial planning, design, installation and start up. They took care of all inspection issues, and tie in to SCE. Staff was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend them yo others.

Job pretty much done but frustrating process

I'm in the home stretch of getting a full roof replacement and new solar system installed in a single family home in CA. AMECO has been ok. I was hoping for a better experience, but the communication side of the experience with AMECO has been very frustrating. Gus, who was my first contact, was great. Super easy to schedule with. Very clear and answered all my questions. Very patient as well as I had to put the project on hold for a few months. But he picked things up right where we left off a few months later when I was ready to move forward. He explained how they work and highlighted how efficient and communication is one of their strengths. Efficient is accurate. The roofing sub and solar install sub teams were fast and seem to have done solid work. My biggest frustration and reason for the 3 starts is communication. This is not their strong suit to say the least. My project manager for the roofing section has been incredibly frustrating to work with. While he would reach out when items or decisions were needed, he would frequently leave out important information or just not answer my question. Not a big deal until we found out that we need a full redecking of our room. The cost quoted was significantly higher than our original contract which include a price/plywood sheet. Our PM explained that this is because our contract was speaking only about a few sheets being replaced... not a complete redecking. I let him know this is a bit disappointing but I understood as the total price still remained fair. He later texted me and offered to upgrade our plywood to a higher quality, thicker type of plywood to "keep our customers happy". I didn't ask for this and definitely didn't expect it. But I was appreciated the gesture greatly. I really lost trust in his word and abilities the next morning when the supplies delivered where the minimum thickness plywood and OSB. Not only did we not get the upgraded plywood, more than half the roof was being redecked with OSB (not per contract or my expectations). I immediately reached out to my project manager and he said he would get back to me. It wasn't until later that afternoon after they had finished the redecking that he confirmed it was not in fact the plywood we had agreed upon. I guess I shouldn't have let them do the work, but I am not a contractor and was confident that I knew what plywood vs OSB meant (I only learned later when my husband explained it to me). Also impending rain scheduled for later that evening left me feeling like I had no choice. Solar install was fine and super fast--done in one day! The solar project manager has been better about communication. I really appreciate how she answers all my questions eventually and seems to quickly addresses next steps. For example, when we passes inspection for the solar, within a business day she notified and filed for PTO with LADWP. I was shocked LADWP came the next day and we got our PTO! But even with her, there is a struggle with communication that I suspect is related to either disorganization or lack of communication on the back end. We are done with all the actual work. I am very eagerly waiting to pay my final bill and turn my system on. But I'm waiting for AMECO to get me signed unconditional waivers which our sales person brought up himself as something they are good at doing. The one from the roofers took about 2 weeks, which is fine. Our solar PM got the one from our install within a day, which was surprisingly fast. Unfortunately she's getting a lot of push back from the solar panel parts supplier. And I still am a bit confused if I need just one waiver from AMECO that could encompass the whole project or two --one for roof and one for solar. I've asked everyone I could think of--our roof PM, my solar PM and some person who randomly emailed me one day saying they were from accounting. There is no clear answer. I know this will eventually all get settled. It's just been frustrating and reminds me why I hate working with contractors who use subs. The work seems solid. Price was good value. Communication is just horrible.

Since covid I have been wanting to get solar panels for my house. Getting recommended by my friend, I chose Ameco Solar, and I could not be any happier. The customer service was phenomenal, along with the installation process. Since it was my first time, I was unsure of many things, but they explained to me the different system sizes and made sure I knew what i was purchasing. I would recommended choosing Ameco for their excellent communication and how they run the business.

Great Experience

I found out about AMECO through online research. I decided to go with them. Everyone I worked with was as thorough as they come and extremely knowledgeable. I had two crews for installation. The first crew reroofed a portion of my existing roof. From the get-go I would receive daily updates from the project manager. He always called to keep me posted about the progress after the crew left for the day. I am very knowledgeable about home construction and when they were finished with the installation I would never have known that they were there at all. They were very clean and I am very happy with the work that they did. The crew that installed my solar panels was also very professional. I asked them lots of questions and they patiently answered everything and took time to explain how everything works. I 100% recommend AMECO

They did an amazing job on my solar panels, the process was faster than I expected and I love my solar panels!! They were nice and very helpful and made the process super smooth.

Ameco installed our 8kw system earlier this year. Great communication and they installed the system in a day. They used a sub contractor for the actua install, but all went well.

Completely Inept and unresponsive

Contracted 6/22/22. Took until 10/13/22 to pass inspection. Made 4 trips to site to install, each time the crew showed up without the necessary parts so they had to come back again. Destroyed the concrete tile on my roof. The installers were in fact subcontractors qualified to do electrical work but not roofing. Ameco did not advise that they were going to use a subcontractor. After inspection and final pmt. on 10/13/22 Ameco failed to get the Permission To Operate certificate from PGE leaving me with an inoperable system. Ameco also failed to set up the Enphase app leaving me unable to monitor my system and see if is working as specified. Ameco also has failed to repair the window broken during installation as of 10/31/22. My conclusion is that Ameco is unprofessional, unqualified and untrustworthy.

Terrible; Fails to Produce Suff Energy, Warranty Ignored

Awful, nightmare. Started this July 2021, broken promises, refusal to honor warranty, unprofessional, energy production promised but unmet. Told that panels would cover my year's electricity, in full. Only covers 1/2 to 2/3. Energy production suddenly drops by 50%. Call Ameco, given excuses, useless info, refuses repeated requests to send out tech to examine, resolve. Told nope, but we can sell you more panels. Feel totally ripped off, abandoned. Took so long to install, started this July, installed end of Dec. Their main tech speaks nary a word of English, so never knew what was happening. The "project manager" never even came to my house. When finally installed and ready to activate, they made me, disabled guy w/ cane, with no knowledge of this stuff, go out, push buttons, levers, etc, and of course, didn't work properly. So unprofessional. Now I'm screwed, paying monthly on $29,000 loan for about 15 yrs, with a system that isn't working and Ameco has basically told me to go screw myself. Heartless. Cruel.

DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!

The solar panel is incredibly simple to schedule and install. I purchased a wonderful solar panel for an affordable rate. The installation process was quick and simple. The staff service was outstanding. They walked me through the pricing thoroughly.

It was a great experience working with them. 10/10
