Review for NY State Solar

Decided to bite the bullet and go for solar. My parents used NYSS and had a generally positive experience so I decided to give them a shot. My salesperson Dan is very accommodating and I am happy to be working with him. Solar is a pretty confusing beast and I tend to have a lot of questions which Dan answers to the best of his abilities, and if he doesn't know the answer he always lets me know he will research it (which I appreciate rather than just someone who pretends they do and gives me the wrong answer.) A few notes if you're interested in Solar: 1. NYSS has a 25 year rent to own lease program which is not a "true" financing option where you own the system outright day one. However, NYSERDA has a 15 year $25k true loan option if you plan to install a small system like mine where you own the system outright. Interest rates are low right now so that's nice. However, the loan only goes through once the system has been completed. I'm not entirely certain how that's going on NYSS's end (but Dan is looking into it for me.) 2. PSEG may not allow Islanding, which is where you isolate from the grid in case the grid goes down and run off a solar powered backup generator/backup. We're still trying to figure this out because I wanted a battery back up that charges off the solar system rather than charging off my credits on the grid (since if the battery depletes, it depletes until the grid goes back up. It can last for about a week.) I'm not entirely certain if this is something that PSEG won't allow (some locations do not allow it), or if NYSS doesn't currently do. Dan is also looking into this for me. Even if the two things above are unable to be done satisfactorily for me, it wouldn't be Dan's fault and I am already more than happy with how fast and easy all the permitting process has been. I'll update the review after everything has been completed but I don't foresee many issues.
