Hello, I was very excited to have one of the first solar systems installed in our area nearly 14 years ago. Naturally, over time the system needs some work. But, we had some surprises. We had a very unique install so paid the "electrician" for extra hours. Big mistake: we have since learned that about half of the connections were reversed. This has caused thousands of dollars to correct. Second, our array was a ground installation. Awesome because that is the way to go to not void your roof warranty. But, in our case they used regular limber (not pressure treated) and nails rather than screws. So, are we surprised that the array fell apart? However, the installer wasn't able to help us solve any of these problems. Either ignored or referred to people that simply couldn't do the job.
