FSDG is the best of the best

We've lived fully off grid for 16 years, so I have had extensive experience with numerous solar installers. Most, unfortunately, are really not that great. Florida Solar Design Group is 100% top notch. If you are considering solar within FSDG's service area, THIS is the company you want to hire. We have a particularly challenging installation, off-grid on a boat-only barrier island with no grid power available. Although many companies will claim that they can handle off-grid installations, relatively few actually have any meaningful amount of experience with them. They generally will take their standard approach for on-grid installations and attempt to adapt it, rarely with good results. After our existing solar was badly damaged by Hurricane Ian, I struggled for a long time to find anyone truly knowledgeable enough to work on it for us (a process further complicated by the fact that most companies prefer to only work on the mainland.) Jason Szumlanski of Florida Design Group, however, is equally comfortable with either on grid or off grid work. He knows off grid like the back of his hand, and has even actually lived off grid himself. I could tell in the first 90 seconds on the phone with him that he knew what he was doing better than anyone from any of the other companies I had screened. Florida Solar Design Group did an absolutely outstanding job on our installation. Pricing was extremely fair and completely transparent, and equipment and installation choices were carefully tailored to our specific location and needs rather than driven by something specific they'd like to sell, something I ran into repeatedly with other companies. The installation is incredibly clean and well done and the work was always done promptly and highly professionally. I was particularly impressed with their problem-solving skills when they ran into the inevitable unexpected complication here and there. Solutions to such complications were truly well thought out to address all underlying issues and potential domino effects. Communication was also 5+ stars. Anytime I had a question about anything, texts or emails were answered within a few hours at most. One delightful detail was that the team was as enthusiastic and invested in the outcome of our installation as I was myself. They never cut corners. Everything was done with best practices, from the grand scale to the smallest of details. I had high expectations and they still managed to exceed them. Thank you, Florida Solar Design Group!
