Review for Solar Optimum

Mostly good at first, but not as good now

My initial experience was that the communication was not great. The designers didn't seem to understand and we went back and forth. Just a bit frustrating. I was also supposed to finance it with some company they worked with, and that company was the absolute WORST! They were unprofessional, lost my paperwork, couldn't get me an answer. After the sales guy recommended I pay cash up-front for the 5th time, I started to get the feeling they were in cahoots. I left a 3-star review after that, and they took a chunk off of my bill to make it a 5-star review. So now I know why they had such great reviews back then! However, it got done, and I was very happy for a couple of years. I paid the basic charges from the utility company and got credit after credit in my bank from solar. Jump to present, and I'm now paying way more to DWP. I guess my solar isn't cutting it anymore. I even had Solar Optimum review everything and they say I'm using more than I'm producing, even though I'm producing the same amount I was last year when my bill was great! So my guess is that when the sales guy went over my system with me, he didn't sell me enough panels to future-proof the system...? Or DWP is reading the meter wrong? I have no idea what changed, but I'm certainly not using more electricity these days than I was a couple of years ago (except on A/C in the summer). And I'm not allowed to add one or two panels. I am expected to purchase another "set" from what I understand. Anyway, I'm very unhappy that my solar is not covering my electric expenses any longer, especially considering that I shelled out thousands in the first place and it was supposed to "pay for itself over the years". Maybe this is normal for solar, but it sure feels like it should've been great for many more years before any of this stuff happened.
