I cannot comment on the skills of Solar Ecology's installation or the environmental implications of their work vs others. I am beyond disappointed that the price quoted to me was $3650 lower than what I paid, approximately. I paid approximately $14,000, was quoted approximately $10,500. There are a list of other $-related issues of which I was not aware but much less important: For example, I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't realize that my Xcel bill includes gas AND electric, and solar only takes care of electric. I have no idea if I made the right decision to go solar but I'm certain I do not recommend Ecology Solar. I will never receive the tax rebate. I was never told that no everyone receives a tax rebate.

Jan, while we sympathize with your disappointment in discovering that your particular tax situation didn't allow you to use the tax credit that your solar purchase generated for tax year 2020, we do want to clarify that your system cost is exactly what you were quoted and what was stated in the written agreement that both parties signed. Both your design packet and the installation agreement clearly state the total installation price of $14,000, with an estimated solar tax credit of $3,640 (26% of the total cost). The screenshots that you sent us of your turbo tax filing verified that the solar system did indeed qualify for and generate the estimated tax credit of $3,640. We did our absolute best to try and inform you of how tax credits work, but always recommend our clients speak to their own tax professional to discover how best and quickly the tax credit can be used. The unused portion of your tax credit will continue to roll over year-to-year, as stated by turbo tax, so perhaps you will have future tax liabilities to which the credit can be applied. Regarding your misunderstanding about your electric and gas bill being combined, don't feel embarrassed, a lot of people get confused about that. But the gas and electricity costs are broken out on your utility bills, and you can be certain that we used only your electricity costs to size your solar system and create the ROI analysis. We sincerely hope you will be able to use your tax credit to reduce your federal tax liability soon, but regardless, you will be seeing savings on your monthly electricity bills, and your home's value has increased due to your solar system, so if you ever decide to sell the home, it will command a higher price.
