I'd like to start by saying that we LOVE being a part of the solar community. We are leasing our panels and went solar as of Nov 2017. Since, we've accumlated points and haven't paid a single electric bill other than the standard service charged by con ed. <br /><br />Installation was quick and efficient withvno problems during inspections and filing for tax credits. I'd like to say that regardless that we are beyond happy with going solar, there are a few things that have stopped us from giving 5 stars. Number one is customer service. I feel that the companies multiple sub divisions sometimes gets hard to get into contact with the right person the first time when you need them. Also our critter guards fell off of our roof. That right there is a huge safety hazard which could have turned bad for us if it had injured someone. They were quick to come remove the guards but told me they would follow up to re-install them in the spring. Unfortunately no one followed up with me and I heard critters under my panels causing me to have to call them and wait almost 2 weeks to have the guards put back up. During this waiting period more of the guards started to hang off the side of my roof causing another potential for liability problems. The critter guards have been a big problem, but I hope its fixed now. <br /><br />The second thing which prevented us from giving 5 stars was there was a breach in our contract thanks to con ed. Before the negative part of this, I'd like to say that our sales guy, Brent was great! However in our lease agreement we were promised that once annually, con ed would buy back our solar credits at approximately 4 cents per credit. As of 2018 a retroactive law went into place stating that as of march 2017 anyone who went solar after is no longer entitled to the buy back, but instead we hold our credits indefinitely. I'm not totally upset by this because we dont have much energy demand here so our credits keep racking up and when we go to sell our home we can use that as buying power to help sell our home with the rest of the solar lease remaining. <br /><br />In conclusion, despite the few flaws we have encountered, we've tried to make them into a postive because overall we LOVE being solar and we are extremely grateful that Venture Solar knocked on our door!
