Unfinished business

We were not given a copy of the contract when we signed it, though we didn't realize it at first.<br />For the most part we were pleased with how the installation was going until the crew came to install the insulation in the attic. It was the first time that they had not gotten a permit from the Town. The installers cut most of the straps holding up the heating and air conditioning ducts in the attic. Some they simply removed, some they stapled back up, which is not up to code, and some they tied back up, also not up to code. They also put a nail into a wire leading to the control panel for the HVAC system. Additionally, the insulation was installed insufficiently in some areas of the attic. When we brought the problems of the cut straps and the pierced wire to the attention to the contact person at the company, nothing whatsoever was done and after a while they stopped responding to our calls, EVEN WHEN I WROTE TO TELL THEM THAT OUR POWER BILLS HAVE NOT BEEN SUFFICIENTLY REDUCED BY GOING SOLAR, ASKING THEM TO PLEASE COME CHECK THE SYSTEM. They never delivered our owners' manual, a promised "tent" for over the attic opening, light bulbs, a Nest thermostat, or the warranty. We consider the project incomplete because of these items that are lacking, and the fact that our power bill remains higher than we'd been led to believe it would be, as well as higher than our friends who have 'gone solar.' Additionally, we need to be reimbursed for the service calls and repairs we have had to pay for to correct the damage done by the workers sent by Energy Conservation NC to install insulation in our attic.
