Review for Certified Safe Electric

Honest trustworthy company

We got 3 estimates. The other two were national companies friends had used, so we know they would probably have been adequate, but since we went with a local company, we saved a substantial amount by not paying a middleman and allowed us access to more incentives through the state. The work has passed inspections with our town's building inspector, wiring inspector, and just today a state auditor who does random checks on solar installers every so often to make sure the work is good. All have commented on the quality of the work. Company representatives were present to meet with every inspector. There was one problem with the inverter and they arranged to have the manufacturer overnight a new one from CA.
We weren't due for a new roof for a few years, but rather than have the panels taken off and put back on so soon, we decided to do it a bit early and this company had roofers who did the job. We also had our roof reinforced for the added weight.
It wasn't a quick and easy project. It took quite a bit longer than expected from start to finish. A good share of the delay was old wiring to a generator done by who knows who – no permit sticker had been left on it. Certified Safe worked with the town inspector to wire it in up to code.
Honestly, at the beginning, when each salesman started talking, I was suspicious about all the deals quoted, but we have already gotten back over 40% of our investment in federal and state rebates, loan forgiveness, and tax credits. Part of the good deal was a grant our state used to encourage residents to use local companies – whether all or any of the federal alternative energy credits will be renewed in the current political climate, I don't know.
By the end of next year we will have gotten back 2/3 of the costs. The SRECs (solar energy credits) will go on for 10 years at a rate of over $1,000 a year. Besides the free electricity, it will more than pay for itself, plus then we can sell a house with the value added benefit of free electricity.
I signed on here to give a fantastic reference for Certified Safe and guess I got carried away. I have nothing to do with selling solar systems, I promise. I would just love to see more people take advantage of it for themselves and the environment. We just got a bill for $42.43 CREDIT. It probably won't always be this good, depending on our usage, but this was even with short snowy and rainy days in February in the Northeast. It's all graphed hourly on the computer and phone and my husband has had fun tracking it, at least now at the beginning.
The people we dealt with most were Matt, Alan, Kim, Jason, and Marko – all top notch professionals and all a delight to work with, as was everyone we dealt with in this company.
