PATRICK WELLER PROVIDED EXCELLENT, RESPONSIVE, & TIMELY SERVICE

GOING SOLAR WITH SOL POWER
My wife and I live on Montero Road in Cameron Park. Our home is all-electric and we have watched as our PG&E bills keep rising with alarming regularity. We decided to look into solar as a way of containing our long-term electric costs. I read-up on photo-voltaic (PV) solar power before contacting four different solar providers.
Among other things I learned it is wise to limit my search to licensed C-46 contractors. These providers are specifically trained in all aspects of solar design and installation. Nowadays many contractors that offer solar are C-10's (electricians), or C-20's (HVAC installers). Not that there is anything wrong with that, but in my opinion these contractors lack the overall expertise to design and install an effective solar power system.
Of the four C-46 providers, we obtained quotes from three of them. Two of the firms sent salesmen to our home to offer a proposal (not that there is anything wrong with that). When questioned about the sketchiness of their proposals, they told me they would provide the details following a site survey by qualified solar professionals. In each case I said fine -- let's schedule the survey. To my chagrin, they told me that would require we sign a contract first! I replied that I would not sign a contract before I knew the particulars of my purchase (i.e., the makes and models of the solar materials, and field verification of their "rough" proposals). In each instance we were not able to agree.
I contacted a fourth provider, locally-based Sol Power Development LLC. The person who arrived at our home, Patrick Weller, is a licensed C-46 contractor. Before submitting his proposal, Patrick did a thorough site survey, even flying a drone over our house to take a battery of photos! His proposal was very specific as to price, materials to be installed, and our solar system's projected electrical production. He explained everything in a way my wife and I could understand and answered all our questions. One of the things he told us is he planned to use Solar Power Optimizers (one for each panel) to help mitigate our mild tree-shading issues.
During the next few days, we considered our options. I contacted the four different client references Patrick had given me. All of them were enthusiastic about their experience dealing with Sol Power and were satisfied with their own recent solar installation experiences. We signed the contract with Sol Power. Now, less than a month after signing, our system is installed and working -- I'm actually looking forward to our next PG&E bill!
Additionally, we purchased our solar outright so we'll be able to claim a 30% rebate on our federal taxes against our project cost.
-David
