Review for Allura Solar

Wish I could recommend

They're friendlily enough folks, and my solar thermal install I'd give 3 stars, but the follow-up has been abysmal to now non-existent. Even when I was offering them more work (more $$$), they don't follow up.

The issues with the installation:

First, had to do with them wanting to install the panels flat on my roof because 'most people want them to look like skylights'. In spite of my excellent south-facing but shallow-sloped roof they would be 45 degrees from facing the sun during the time of year when I needed maximum collection, mid-winter. I persuaded them to put them up on racks, at a reasonable additional cost I didn't question.

Second, being solar thermal there are lines exposed to the weather carrying the fluid to and from the panels. We had agreed for these to follow a direct path from the panels straight to the basement through some conveniently stacked closets. Day of installation they convinced me to allow them to do a much more circuitous path outside the house which instead of exposing less than 20' of line to the weather, now exposed more than 70' and had two house penetrations. My bad for allowing this, theirs for suggesting it.

Finally, I've made several calls to have the setup serviced, asked for the plumbing to be rerouted (at my expense) and requested an upgraded solar controller that I've openly said I'd pay for and have gotten very friendly call-backs, and in one case a visit, but....crickets otherwise.

I believe I've conducted myself in a patient, adult manner and have no idea why they don't show interest in performing work I've asked.

So, one star.
