We signed up with SunVena for a 19.75kW solar system, expecting it to generate around 2,850 kWh per month—enough to cover 90–110% of our energy usage. The system is leased through Palmetto Solar at $302/month, with a 3% annual increase for 25 years. Since the county activated the system over 18 months ago, it has never performed as promised. Most months we’ve seen only 600–900 kWh, and lately it’s dropped to just 250–300 kWh. That’s barely 10% of what we were sold on. We’ve had five service requests. Two Tesla inverters failed and were replaced. Multiple software patches were uploaded. Still no fix. Their diagnostics say everything’s “working fine”—until we point out our electric bills. Then it’s suddenly a “top priority,” which means waiting 1–2 months for a technician, then another month for the next bill, only to find out nothing’s changed. One visit was so poorly documented that I had to call three weeks later to find out what was done. Turns out five panels were out. On the "next" visit, the technician told us it was actually 17 panels that needed replacing—but he was only prepared to fix five. Now we wait again. We’re stuck paying $302/month for a system that doesn’t work, plus $275–$350/month to the electric company. That’s about $100 more than we paid before going solar. I’ve sent both Sun Vena and Palmetto Solar multiple electric bills showing the ongoing cost and failure. Not once have we been offered a refund, credit, or meaningful compensation. Just the same scripted line: “We’re sorry for the inconvenience. We appreciate your patience during this time.” If you’re considering Sun Vena or Palmetto Solar, think twice. Solar should bring savings and peace of mind—not broken promises, mounting bills, and endless delays.
